1 2012 Whale of a Sail Notice of Regatta Carlyle Sailing Association invites all sailors and paddlers to participate in the 42nd annual Whale of a Sail Regatta. The event will be September 14 to September 16, All events will take place at Carlyle Sailing Association, Carlyle Lake, Carlyle, IL. A great weekend of sailing and entertainment has been planned for your enjoyment and relaxation. Two days of sailing and paddling, up to seven races to be held for the sailing classes, friendly racing competition, paddle demonstrations, Saturday night buffet, live band Saturday, breakfast Saturday and Sunday, refreshments all weekend!! 5 2012 Whale Paddler Information Please register for the Whale with the Paddler Registration Form. We have a limited number of boats for introductory sessions and race/fun paddle rentals so register soon but we can handle large groups if you bring your own boat. Saturday, September 15 th Saturday events start at 11am, and continue through mid afternoon Stand-up Paddle (SUP) Beginner sessions starting at 11am through 3pm SUP courses set 1 mile and 2 mile (approximately) Kayak fun paddles (bring your own kayak on Saturday) Sunday, September 16th Sunday events start at 9:30am, and continue to 1pm Kayak and Sailing Kayak introductory sessions starting at 9:30 SUP Racing courses 2 to 3 miles (bring your own board, or rental fee required) Stand-up Paddle (SUP) Introductory sessions starting at 11am SUP and Kayak fun paddles (we will provide a map, bring your own boat or rental fee required) Paddle Sponsors: Saint Louis Sail and Paddle: The folks at St Louis Sail & Paddle love to get people out on the water and show them the ways they can play! The best part is showing them how to experience pure joy with little impact on the environment. We get people playing on Hobie Sailing Kayaks, Hobie Mirage Drive Kayaks, Hobie Fishing Kayaks (which are also great for Bird Watching and Duck Hunting), as well as Bic and Pau Hana Stand Up Paddle Boards. We will provide the watercraft, paddles, and PFD s on Sunday for the introductory sessions (fun paddles require a small rental fee).
