1 1. Welcome to the second race of the 2016 Olympic Trials, which also serves as the second race in the Senior and U23 Team Trials. For details on quali cation procedures for these teams, please refer to the 2016 US Olympic Team Athlete Selection Criteria and the Senior/U23 Team Athlete Selection Criteria as posted on the USA Canoe/Kayak website. The following will be the o cials for this race: a. Jury members i. Silvan Poberaj- Chairman ii. Rafal Smolen iii. Eric Lokken b. Race O cials i. Chief Judge- Lauren Bixby ii. Assistant Chief Judge- William Irving iii. Chief of Scoring- William Irving iv. Technical Organizer- Dave Hepp 2. Roll Call of Athletes a. A count will be taken to ensure majority of athletes and/or athlete representatives are present 3. Approval of the Agenda a. Athlete meeting followed by bib handout 4. Competition Schedule a. O cial training Tuesday-Friday based on published schedule b. Race times- Saturday and Sunday 5. Course Information a. 5 pumps split between Competition Channel and Adrenaline Channel b. Adrenaline Channel will be available for athletes to warm up on 6. Con rmation of Start list and distribution a. Final Start list posted b. If any error in name spelling, etc., please contact Chief Judge to correct. 7. Appointment of Jury a. Appointment made by High Performance Committee with collaboration of Chief Judge and Race Organizers b. Modi cation to ICF Rule Selection/Announcement of Course Designers a. Course Designers - Selected by High Performance Committee to ensure no potential con ict of interest b. Course Designers:

Installation of Saturday/Sunday Course course a. Saturday s course will be set at 4:30pm on Friday (broken demos) i. Rehearsal at 5:30pm on Friday b. Sunday course will be set at 4:30pm on Saturday i. Rehearsal will be at 5:30pm on Saturday 11. Closing of the course a. The Competition Channel is CLOSED to all competitors following the end of o cial training at 3pm, Friday, May 6th. No competitors may paddle on the Competition Channel before or after competition until publication of O cial Results for all classes on Sunday. b. Competitors may paddle Adrenaline Channel throughout the competition following guidelines set by OKC BF for open water times. c. Failure to comply with the course closure rules will result in disquali cation (ICF Rule 40) 12. Course approval a. Course approval will take place immediately following the Rehearsal runs at 5:30pm Friday (for Saturday course) and 5:30pm Saturday(for Sunday course) b. Course approval will follow ICF Rules 21.2 and Demonstration runs a. Saturday course will be set at 4:30pm on Friday (broken demos) b. Saturday course Full Length Rehearsal at 5:30pm on Friday c. Sunday course will be set at 4:30pm on Saturday d. Sunday course Full Lengths will be at 5:30pm on Saturday e. Water will be o at 7pm on Friday f. Water will be o at 6:30pm on Saturday 14. Bib Distribution a. No training bibs required. All athletes must check in with Kayak Check In before paddling during O cial Training b. Competition Bibs will be handed out immediately following Athlete Meeting Friday 12pm at restaurant patio 15. Start and Finish location and procedures

3 a. Pre start procedure - There MAY be a prestarter (depending on volunteers) to announce which competitor should move to the start eddy. Athletes are responsible for being in top pool and adhering to start times if there is no prestarter b. Start Procedure i. Location of beam line - Start will at entrance to Competition Channel ii. Call procedure to start - Starter will announce Bib Number which will proceed to start RapidBlocks. Positioning at start platform (downstream start) iii. Countdown procedure- Starter will instruct competitor one minute to start, 30 seconds. Countdown beeps will commence at 10, 5,4, 3,2,1,0. iv. Each Athlete must wear the allocated bib for identi cation purposes c. Finish Area Procedure i. Location of beam line - Just above nal drop and there is a Finish Banner ii. On water nish area boundaries for Competitors - Athletes must stay in bottom pool until cleared by Equipment Control and Doping Control. Athletes must follow channel around to bottom pool for Equipment and Doping Control. iii. Equipment Control requirements - Athletes will be called by bib number to participate in Equipment Control. Equipment Control will take place by stairs at the bottom pool iv. Doping Control requirements -Doping control will take place at this competition. Athletes will be called by the Doping Control O cer and must adhere to all USADA requirements including staying with doping chaperone v. Mixed zone - On island adjacent to Equipment Control d. Start Interval i. 2-minute intervals for all classes ii minute break between classes 16. Results a. Results computing system used- Timing/Scoring/Results will be generated by Canoe123 b. Any Judging communication system used- Judges will be communicating penalties to scoring via radio c. Location of Results posting- results will be posted near island pavilion near Finish for ease of access for competitors

4 d. Distribution of Results - Checklists, Uno cial Results, and O cial Results will be posted on board on island. O cial Results will be posted on OKC BF website and USA C/K websites following each competition day e. Live results web address will be posted on the Boathouse Foundation website 17. Location of Enquiry / Protest desk, Protest fee a. Location of enquiry / protest desk - Will be positioned next to island pavilion next to Results board b. Protest fee $100 USD (Cash only) c. For Judging matters athletes may only make one (1) enquiry per competition day which will be processed in full. Once the Chief Judge s decision is made following an enquiry on a judging matter their decision is nal and teams are not able to proceed to a protest. d. Athletes may only make one (1) enquiry on another athlete per weekend (one for both days of competition in OKC) e. All enquiries must be made within ve (5) minutes of athlete s checklist being posted (ICF Rule ) f. In the event of a protest for any non-judging matters, the protest fee is returned if the protest is upheld. If the protest is not upheld (denied), or the athlete/athlete representative withdraws the protest, the deposit is forfeited to the Organizing Committee. 18. Technical Video Service a. O cial Video will not be available 19. Awards Ceremony, Time and Location, Dress requirement a. Awards will take place following O cial Results on Sunday 20. Medical Services location and availability a. Medical services will be located next to the athlete tent area 21. Water Safety and rescue a. Racers must stay in the water after their runs so that there are always two boats at the bottom of the course. Athletes need to remain in boats for the start of the next class b. OKC will have two safety people with throw ropes stationed along the course 22. Team Areas a. Athletes tents will be located by the raft area on the left side of course b. Athletes may bring personal supplies for the race. 23. Equipment measuring and post competition control a. Equipment Control will take place on island following nish (See item 15.C) b. Equipment Control will take place on a random basis

5 24. Doping control a. Will take place during this competition i. See item 15.C for details on location b. Athletes selected for doping control will need valid ID 25. Access / accreditation to the Venue a. Athletes may access Riversport Rapids during operating hours 26. Media, access entitlements to the course and the athletes. a. Aaron Mann will act as Media O cer and will facilitate interviews, etc. i. Please report any Media-related issues immediately to Aaron Mann 27. Technology and Support a. No event speci c wi will be available 28. Car parking a. All athletes and support sta will need to follow OKC Riversport Rapids parking regulations b. Athlete parking only is available on the right side of the Competition Channel in the construction area. Please be sure to be mindful of the ongoing construction c. Parking is at the OU Health Science Center student lot (parking lot O) d. This parking lot is located on Lottie Avenue o of 8th St. e. OKC will be running blue vans from 5am-7am both days and then shuttle buses the rest of the time until 11pm on Saturday and 8pm on Sunday. 29. Security a. OKC provides security for the venue. No speci c competition security will be provided b. The Organising Committee recommends not leaving anything valuable in the tents, the cars or at the competition venue. The Organising Committee will not accept liability in case of theft or disappearance of equipment from the site. 30. Opening and Closing Ceremonies a. There are no Opening or Closing Ceremonies for this Event 31. Organisation o ce a. The race o ce will be located on the island. All information will be posted there as well as at OKC BF website 32. O cial Functions a. No o cial functions for this race 33. Special information/requirements of this race a. All athletes must adhere to OKC Riversport Rapids rules concerning use of grounds and water

6 34. Any special interpretation of rules used in this competition. a. Inquiries i. 1 per athlete per day on self, 1 per athlete against another athlete per weekend (1 Charlotte, 1 OKC). Modi cation of ICF Rule ii. Inquiries may be made within 5 minutes of athlete s checklist posting. Rule iii. Athletes or one (1) designee may enter enquiries. Athlete designee must be listed on o cial sheet to be completed at bib handout. Enquiries made by someone other than athlete or athlete designee will not be accepted. b. Competitors i. Athletes under the age of 15 will be subject to all rules; however, will not be disquali ed for equipment as long as it meets safety requirements (life jacket buoyancy, boat requirements, etc. This excludes labeling requirements as long as equipment is on ICF O cial Equipment list). Modi cation to ICF Rule 3.4 c. Rule 50 i. Modi cations to ICF Rule No name stickers will be provided ii. IOC Rule 50 will be enforced according USOC Olympic Team Trials rules 1. 2 boat manufacturer s labels on boat 2. 1 equipment label per piece of gear, less than 20 cm2 a. 1 label for skirt b. 1 label for paddle jacket c. 1 label for paddle d. 1 label for helmet 3. No other advertising, for neither business nor nonpro t, can appear on athletes at any time during competition 4. Failure to adhere to Rule 50 will result in disquali cation 5. For questions regarding Rule 50, please see Aaron Mann d. O cials i. Jury - Not all jury members will be IJCSL. Modi cation to ICF Rule ii. O cials - Not all race o cials will be IJCSL. Modi cation to ICF Rule 11 e. Entries i. Modi cation to ICF Rule 11, entries per organizer requirements f. Start Order and ICF Canoe Slalom Ranking System i. Start Order is determined by 2016 Senior/U23 Selection Criteria

7 1. The Team Trials start order for each event shall be determined rst by the ranking of the top 100 from the Final 2015 ICF World Ranking. If the athlete is not ranked in the top 100 from the 2015 ICF World Ranking then they will be ranked after the Top 100 by the 2015 U.S. Slalom National Team Trials nal results. If still not ranked, the athlete will be ranked by random draw after all participating boats from the 2015 Trials have been ranked. Boats with 2015 results substantially below their 2014 results due to injury may petition the USA Canoe/Kayak Slalom National Team Sta and the Chief Judge to run at the front of their event. Petitions must be received no later than April 1, Petitions will be granted only in cases where race results demonstrate that the boat is likely to be competitive for the National Team. ii. As per the ICF Racing Rules, any boat may petition the Chief Judge to allow additional time between themselves and another boat beyond the scheduled time. The Chief Judge will grant the petition in cases where the boat has been interfered with by a slower boat or has overtaken a slower boat during a previous Team Trials race run, or otherwise demonstrates concrete evidence of disadvantage. 1. Any request for additional time must be made to Chief Judge via Lauren.E.Bixby@gmail.com, or to Team Coaches Rafal Smolen (rafal@usack.org) or Silvan Poberaj ( silvan@usack.org ) within 24 hour of posting of Uno cial Startlist on Thursday, May 5th g. Equipment Controli. If ICF Cage is not available. A modi ed metal cage that meets weight requires will be used h. International Competitors will not appear on O cial Results for Olympic Team Trials i. All competitors will receive score checklists ii. Only eligible athletes competing for US Olympic Team and Senior/U23 National Team will be listed on O cial Results i. Bibs must be returned upon competition completion j.
