1 The Far Post Bonneville Youth Soccer League June 2012 President s Message Bonneville Youth Soccer League (BYSL) BYSL Director s Of Coaching Message Greetings: Time flies when you're having fun & I hope you were all having fun this past Snake River League season. I know I was. It's always a good time when the weather co-operates. Rotten wind, but far less snow and mud than last spring. BYSL had 35 teams from U-12 to U-18 this spring. For me that is great to know we have so many kids wanting to play soccer. To the coaches, managers, parents and officials that help to make it all happen. Thank you!!! There's a lot of information in this edition of the Far Post. Registration deadlines, start dates, and more concerning the fall season. If, however, you do not find something you need don't hesitate to contact a program Director or myself. Our website will also have most of the needed information you will need. I do have a new . pigsrus21@gmail.com I hope you all have a great summer. See ya next season. FACEBOOK: To receive highlite s on Facebook; look for Bonneville Youth Soccer League and click on Like. Dean Cook, BYSL President pigsrus21@gmail.com Greetings everyone, State Cup & Memorial weekend are over now so the Spring season is winding down, and we re all waiting for summer weather to begin. Our numbers were down this year for BYSL teams participating in State Cup but we were represented well by BSC U15B and EFC U16B who both walked away with 3 rd places respectively. Well done! Some teams are still training and attending summer tournaments abroad but it is important that all of our players stay active and continue to touch the ball in the off season as the Fall HS / JH / U12 / YDP season will be upon us sooner than you think. Summer camps and Open Play/Pick-up games are a great way to achieve that. Here locally, we have the ISU/OSC Mini Camp and there are also numerous other summer camps close to our area (ISU, BSU, BYU, & others in Utah) if you or your player is willing to travel. There are several venues w/open play around the city and summer city leagues for the older players as well. Watching high level matches are very beneficial to our players; either travelling to Utah to see SL Real (the US Women vs. Canada is coming up next week down in Utah!) or watching soccer matches on TV or the internet. I encourage all of our coaches who currently hold the USSF E license to attend the upcoming USSF D Course in November, & continue with their coaching education. The entire USSF coaching education curriculum has been re-written and things have changed since many of us have taken the two courses. The State has announced that HS Try-outs/training will start on Monday, August 6 th and the JH Tryouts will begin 3 days (Thu) after that (see your individual schools for times & venues), and the YDP & U12 programs information are listed later in this newsletter as well. Good luck everyone! And I hope you all have a great summer, and I ll see you out on the pitch! Charlie Brizzee, BYSL Director of Coaching Charlie.brizzee@apria.com Greatness is not where we stand but in what direction we are moving, we must sail with the wind and sometimes against it, but sail we must, not drift, nor lie in anchor Oliver Wendell Holmes - 1
