Come share in some holiday cheer, this Thursday, December 11th from 7-9 p.m. at our regular monthly associa on mee ng, when we will celebrate the holiday season with a gi exchange, a holiday potluck and a fun and entertaining group pain ng project led by Dulcie Adams. Bring an item valued at $10 or less for the gi exchange and something delicious to add to the collec on of holiday pot luck buffet treats. 2 Teammates, The November mee ng demonstrator, Danielle Eubanks, was amazing. She showed us a slide show of her expedi ons in the Middle east and Africa and also her expedi on in the arc c. These were photos of expedi on life on the replica of a sixty-foot ancient Phoenician sailing ship that sailed around Africa to England. Also showed photos of her arc c expedi on on a 120 foot ship. And if that were not enough she demonstrated her pain ng technique on a pain ng of an ocean ice field. There was a big turnout and a lot of ques ons for this amazing lady. Diane Carter won the raffle of a genuine Danielle Eubanks pain ng. At our December mee ng we will have a group par- cipa on pain ng event and a gi exchange. Bring a gi of $10 or less and of course some food for the buffet. I plan to stay ac ve in GAA and on the board which is a group of fun people who know how to make things happen. I am thinking about upda ng the bylaws, which haven t been updated since This will give me a chance to pass on lessons learned from my me with GAA and hopefully make it a more efficient organiza on. - Dick Heimbold The December mee ng will be my last as President of GAA. I ve had a wonderful four years at the helm and now it is me for a new and steadier hand to take it. And you can t find a steadier hand in Glendale than Jennifer Bentson our President in Wai ng who was voted in at the last board mee ng. Welcome Aboard Jennifer! For me the last four years were very rewarding. I ve met a lot of interes ng ar sts and art-involved people in our fair city. Also watched as some of our members let their talents bloom and become much be er ar sts. DECEMBER Wednesday Dec 10th Pasadena City Hall Sunday Dec 28th Glendale City Hall Vroom: The Art of the Motorcycle is an exhibition that will offer an in-depth look at the dynamic history of motorcycle culture, featuring rare and collectable vintage motorcycles; hand-painted helmets, motorcycle gas tanks and fenders; as well as paintings, sculpture and photographs by a dozen of today s most celebrated motorcycle artists. At the Forest Lawn Museum through January 5, A gentle reminder that the annual Membership Fees are due and payable on January 1st!

3 This is such an honor to be nominated and voted in as your President for I look forward to ge ng to know everyone be er. I have been the President of the San Fernando Valley Art Club (SVAC) for the last 2 years. During this me, I have also a ended board mee ngs and helped out with Glendale Art Associa on. Since SFVAC meets in Encino, and I live in Glendale, I am looking forward to serving a li le closer to home. I want to introduce myself with some interes ng facts. I was born in Glendale and have lived here most of my life. I have had experience with other organiza ons in Glendale; The Chevy Chase Garden Club, The Glendale Symphony, The Glendale Rose Float Associa on, The Women s Resource Center, YWCA, just to name a few. I graduated from Crescenta Valley High School. I am an Aires, born in the year of the Dragon; favorite colors are red, orange and purple. I love to play Scrabble. Aside from all of that, Art is my full me passion, along with managing the family proper es. I am looking forward to pain ng with everyone in the areas in and around Glendale. Paint outs are a great way to experience our beau ful community and get to know each other be er. As an ar st, I love watercolors. Last year, I helped coordinate a visit from China of two ar sts. During our exchange, they invited SFVAC to China for the Moon Fes val this year. Four ar sts traveled in Sept to Hong Kong, Xiamen, Guilin, and Yangshou with paint brushes and open arms. This was a memorable trip for everyone. During our trip we sojourned into Chinese Brush Pain ng. Expanding my art in Glendale, I am migra ng to oils as a new venture. Aren t ar sts crea ve and always trying something new? Speaking of nudes, I do a end many open studios in the area and sketch nudes. Also, I started a series of pain ngs about 3 years ago on significant oak trees in California. So far, I have 27 pain ngs in this series with stories to match. My adventures with oak trees has been a wonderful ride. Although I hold the tle of President, I see the members of GAA as the real drivers of the organiza on.
