7 Page 7, HCubed May 2018 Cinco de Mayo Dance May 5 The Tres Amigos~ Bertha, Tam and Patty..red, red, red Decorations were by David and Kay Wildman Wayne and Beulah Hodges celebrated their 70 th Wedding Anniversary April 28 th at the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell with their family and friends gathered to honor this wonderful couple. The dance featured Gary Shoemake calling and was started with a reception at 6:30 and dancing at 7:30. The Happy Hoppers gave two honorary badges to Wayne and Beulah making them Honorary Hoppers. They will get in free to Hopper future dances. Our gift to them for their contribution to dancing and their long-lasting love. Congratulations Wayne and Beulah!! (they even have Hopper colors).

Potluck (Hoppers like to eat!!) scheduled to start at 1:00??(more info to follow) with veggie races?? to start after lunch. Use your creativity and imagination for your winning entry for the veggie race!!! Dancing in the Dance Hall!! Intended for old Hoppers too!! Bring a lawn chair, your cards, games and anything you like to have fun!! Hike around the Tree Farm and see Jean and Frank s creativity including a platform for visiting and a great view. Directions from Granite Falls: (MapQuest) Start out going east on E Stanley St/WA-92 toward Wabash Ave. Then 0.24 miles. Turn right onto S. Alder Ave ~ S. Alder is just past N. Indiana Ave. If you reach E. Stanley PL you ve gone about 0.1 miles too far. Then 0.25 miles and turn left onto Menzel Lake Rd. Then 5.91 miles and Menzel Lake Rd becomes N. Lake Rosiger Rd. Then 0.98 miles and turn slight right onto NW Lake Roesiger Rd. NW Lake Roesiger Rd is 0.6 miles past 14 St. NE. Then 0.04 miles and take the 1 st right to stay on NW Lake Roesiger Rd. 10 Page 10, HCubed May 2018 SUMMER STARTS JUNE 21 Have Fun!!!! MBC report to the Happy Hoppers for May 2018 The Central Area Council is having difficulty electing new officers and may be forced to disband. The MBC has $26,080 in the Treasury. Bill Freyfogle reported that all MBC clubs had submitted their rosters and dues as of this date. Congratulations to all! The Club insurance dues of $6 per primary member is due before the end of May. Please get them in using the Form on the State Federation website. The Dudes and Dolls reported that they sold 211 tickets presale and 51 at the door for the Spring Council Dance, for a total income of $2218. Their hall rental for Mariner HS was $768. Callers and cuer fees were $655. Advertising and flyers was $114. The expenses totaled $1629, so the net profit was $589, of which $353 goes to the club and $235 goes to the council. The Fall Council Dance (Freewheelers) will be held on Sept 30, 2018 from 2 5:30 pm. It will be all Mainstream calling by Steve Noseck and Brent Mawdsley. Rod gave a report on the findings, to date, of the Recruitment Task Force. There is an urgent need for a Publicity Chair to head a standing committee to develop and implement a Marketing Strategy and Plan. Also, a need for other members of the council to support the Publicity Chair, as there is much work to be done. The Council will place a front-page ad in the Council Notes booklet for June, requesting interested volunteers to step forward and help with the recruiting effort. There will be an emphasis on recruiting on Social Media such as Facebook, Meetup and Next Door. The Council approved a payment of no more than $500 to print the Council Directory. The Council membership voted to continue with a paper copy of the Council Notes. Doug Keyes wanted to know how much of an increase in ad prices the clubs would support so we need to vote on it. 11 Page 11, HCubed May 2018 PS: One quick reminder, since we don t want to get the old boot please consider signing up for the Winthrop Square Dance Festival prior to Sept 1. This is a very fun event and a chance to follow-up the Happy Hopper victory in 2016 when we had the largest number of members that pre-registered and received the golden horseshoe (we don t want the boot again) like last year. Mmmm, that chocolate is going to taste even better this year!!!!

Jean Raymond reminded members at the meeting yesterday to contact her (Jean knows the best RV spots), so she can make a reservation to get the Happy Hoppers usual camping spot (if you have an RV) at the KOA campground south of Winthrop.
