1 CHIPS VOL XXVII ISS 1 JANUARY 22, 2012 SUNCOAST WOODCARVERS MEETING MINUTES January 10, 2012 Seminole Recreation Center President Alan Anderson opened the meeting with approval of the minutes of last meeting and the Treasurer s Report. Florida State Fair in Tampa on Wednesday, February 15. Please see him if you re interested. SHOW AND TELL Joe Lutz was also the only one with an item for Show and Tell. He showed a caricature cowboy which was still wet with boiled linseed oil. He quickly got to items related to the Annual Show, which was on January 14-15, such as the lettering on the Club trailer. The trailer was positioned so that it could act as a sign advertising the show. Joe Lutz, Show Chairman, then took over with the status of preparations for the Show. John Roush spoke on the registration of entries to the Judged and People s Choice competitions. It was noted that parking would be more of a problem than usual, with the back lot and other areas blocked or roped off due to ongoing work at the Recreation Center. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS Joe Lutz has obtained parking and admission passes for Club members interested in participating in demonstrating carving at the
2 COMMUNITY EVENTS Club members continue to demonstrate carving every Thursday at Heritage Village. If you re interested in participating, please contact Bill Dewald at Members also contributed carved blocks for a friendship cane, which was raffled off at the Show. Bill Dewald, Secretary ANNUAL SHOW NOTES The Annual Suncoast Woodcarvers Show was held on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15, We would like to thank the Show Chairman, Joe Lutz, and the many Club members who volunteered their time and efforts towards making this year s Show a success. Thanks to John Roush, Nick Stella, Richard Samay and others for the pictures and content included in this edition of CHIPS.
