KENNEDY, MAYOR Jackie Chavez-Anderson, Administrator MAYOR S CORNER The Mayor's 5k Race and Walk was held on Sunday, September 23, 2012 at North Olmsted Park. Proceeds from the event will go to scholarships for North Olmsted High School students and also residents of North Olmsted who attend other area parochial schools such as St. Edward, St. Ignatius and Magnificat. We encourage Senior s to participate in the 1 mile walk next year! Congratulations to Tiffany Hunt and Jackie Chavez-Anderson for running! It s that time again for seasonal flu shots! They will be offered at the Senior Center on October, 22 nd, 23 rd, 25 th, and 26 th from 10:00a.m.-12:00 p.m. No appointments are necessary and individuals covered by Medicare will not be charged for the shot. The cost for all others is $ Halloween Trick-or-Treat will be Monday, October 31 st from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Please be extra cautious if you are driving that evening. Happy Autumn! 4 Tiffany Hunt, LSW Outreach Services (440) Flu Shots October 22nd, 23rd, 25th, 26th 10:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m./atrium CVS Pharmacists will be offering the flu shot the week of October 22nd on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:00-12:00. No appointments are necessary and all Medicare recipients can receive the shot at no cost. Please be sure to bring your insurance cards the day of the shot. Individuals not covered by Medicare will be charged $ Bereavement Support Wednesdays, October 10th, 17th, and 24th, 1:00-3:00 p.m ViaQuest Home Care and Hospice will be offering a 3 week support group for individuals who have recently lost a loved one. Tickets may be purchased at the North Olmsted Senior Center Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30. Tickets are on sale for $4.00 p/p. Tickets will not be sold at the door, tickets must be purchased in advance. Doors open at 12:30. Live music preformed by the LBJ Band. Lunch, dessert, beverages, games and prizes are all available for your enjoyment! This multigenerational program is sponsored by the North Olmsted High School SITES program. INTERNATIONAL FOOD COOK OFF Wednesday, November 7th/ 11:30-1:00 Enjoy cuisine from around the world prepared by local Chefs. Your $5 ticket will allow you to taste food from 10 different countries along with a chance to win great raffle prizes! You can purchase tickets starting October 22nd. OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD The Senior Center will be accepting donations once again for our Holiday drive with Samaritan s Purse and Operation Christmas Child in the month of October until November 15th. The Volunteer Group will then box up the donations to be sent out to children all over the world for the upcoming Holiday Season. Please place donations in the designated box in the center hall; donation suggestions will be posted on the box. 6

A one time registration form must be completed and can be obtained at the front desk. Once this has been completed and is on file, you may sign up for any lunches that you choose. Please contact the center for more details! This program was made possible by a Grant from the Ohio Department of Aging through the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging. Please acquire your lunch ticket at the sign in desk and be in your seats no later than 11:30am. Please note that announcements will begin at 11:50 or earlier, lunch will be served shortly a3er. Please refer to the entertainment page for a schedule of movies and performers. AARP meets on the first Thursday of the month in the community cabin. All are welcome to a!end that very informave meeng. There will be no entertainment at the senior center on those days. All meals ordered must be consumed on site. Carry- Out lunches are not permi!ed.
