Manchester Terrorist Attack On Tuesday 23 rd May, people all over the world woke up to the devastating news of the Manchester terrorist attack that happened at the Manchester Arena on Monday night.

Manchester. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and those that were injured.

Over 108,000 was raised in just three days with donations still coming in now. It is nice to see that everyone is pulling together and supporting Manchester at such a tragic time.

2 Manchester Terrorist Attack On Tuesday 23 rd May, people all over the world woke up to the devastating news of the Manchester terrorist attack that happened at the Manchester Arena on Monday night. Twenty two people (which included children and teenagers) lost their lives and over one hundred people were injured in the suicide bomb attack and treated at hospitals in and around Greater Manchester. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and those that were injured. Donations started to flood in to the ELMC with generous Freemasons and their Lodges donating money towards the Manchester Attack. Over 108,000 was raised in just three days with donations still coming in now. It is nice to see that everyone is pulling together and supporting Manchester at such a tragic time. If anyone would like to make a donation you can do so by speaking to Julie Ward or by the East Lancashire Masonic Charity website. All monies raised will go to help and support those that have been affected by the Manchester terrorist attack. MANCHESTER WE STAND TOGETHER Birthday Celebrations The Current Total is: 188,685 Dorothy Castle celebrated her birthday on Wednesday 3 rd May. Residents and staff joined together to sing happy birthday to Dorothy. Everyone enjoyed the lovely cake that Dorothy s daughter had brought in for everyone to enjoy. We hope you had a lovely day Dorothy. 2

A power point has been put on the TV with information of Hewlett Court on it. Visitors can see all what goes on at Hewlett Court with the information that is shown on the TV. 5 Sad News A former resident of Hewlett Court, Lorna Briscoe sadly passed away in Bank House Nursing Home. Lorna had been poorly for a while and passed peacefully in her sleep on Monday 1 st May. Thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Sad News Sadly on 4 th June Vera Stark passed away in hospital. Vera was a character and will be deeply missed by the staff and residents at Hewlett Court. Our thoughts and prayers are with Vera s family at this sad time. Memory Walk The staff of Hewlett Court are preparing for the sponsored memory walk. The walk is drawing nearer and the staff will be taking part on Saturday 17 th June. If there is anyone that would like to sponsor the girls then please speak to the management team. All proceeds will be going to the Bolton Hospice. Teddy Bear s Picnic The United Grand Lodge of England are celebrating three hundred years of Free Masonry. To celebrate the momentous occasion, there will be a teddy bears picnic held at Hewlett Court on 1 st July at 12pm. The event will be opened by Jimmy Cricket. There will be lots going on including entertainment, a small funfair, petting zoo, games, beer tent and burger stalls. Entry is free and programmes can be purchased for 1 on the day-this has your raffle number included. We have a variety of raffle prizes to be won on the day. It would be great if you could attend. Resident s Meeting There will be a residents meeting held on Wednesday 21 st June at 11am. The resident s representatives are Margaret Murray Irene Roberts David Farmer George Heavyside If any residents have any issues or problems that they would like to be brought up in the meeting please discuss with one of the representatives. 5
