The pieces of art will be on display from 5pm Tuesday evening until Thursday afternoon. I hope many of you will join us in celebrating our creative talents at Balmoral.

Malcolm Milner Principal (Te Tumuaki) Staffing Changes Judith Knight will be joining our New Entrant Team from the start of Term 4. Most recently Judith has been a Head Teacher of a local kindergarten. Property The school has finally gained possession of the two pre-fabricated classrooms that were brought onto the school fields one year ago. This establishment process has been one of sheer frustration from the Board, staff and children. We can only hope that the process from this point forward is hugely improved. On the main build we still have not had any communication from the Ministry of Education on when our design meetings will restart. We await with baited breath. Balmoral Has Talent It was an exciting and entertaining event yesterday afternoon as some of Balmoral s talent was put on show at the final of Balmoral Has Talent. With contestants from both the Intermediate and the senior primary school, the competition was hot! A truly musical affair, there was dance, song, and bands and acro. We were also entertained by a video of some mean scootering skills. And the winners were 3 rd place Georgi Buckett Y5. Song, Count on Me. 2 nd place Jorja Stevens Y8. Original song, I m Too Young. 1 st place Isla Ross and Anna Hagele Y6. Jazz dance.

News From The Primary Kia ora e te Whānau o Te Roto a Rangi Dear Parents, Whānau and Caregivers As usual, it s been a busy term at Balmoral, full of rich learning experiences. I know that our students are excited to share their pieces of art with you next week at our arts celebration evening. Our year 5/6 students are growing in excitement about their trip to Camp Adair next term as are the teachers We wish you all a safe and restful break next week and look forward to all the exciting opportunities that Term 4 will bring. Ngā mihi Katy and the Primary Team Shared Learning from Whetu Whanau Whetu are in the process of creating dance performances around our inquiry journey. We will be performing to whanau in term 4. Keep an eye out for date and time next term. Room 18 s inquiry has been around flight and the forces that create flight. They are lift, drag, weight and thrust. We made some crayon and dye pictures to show our learning.

Observatory Trip Recently Rooms 15 and 29 visited the Auckland Observatory. This was connected to our inquiry learning around space. We learnt so much about the Universe including the Big Bang, the forming of stars and planets and the fact we are all made from star dust! One of our favourite parts was the planetarium, where we looked up at the night sky and learnt about how to find your way by using the stars. It was an amazing trip which has added excitement to our learning and left us wondering about some very big questions like, does space ever end? And will time ever stop?

Room 17 has been inquiring about homelessness and refugees. We did a philosophy session on needs vs wants and discovered all humans need, dry and warm houses to live in. We are now in the process of making our house prototypes as part of the technology learning in our inquiry. Boys U40kg Rugby Team Sports news I overlooked the rustling grass, the bright sun reflected off the swirling water, boys running around. We were finally here. Auckland Championships, we had trained hard and had to make a few changes to our team to get to this moment. The first game was against St Kents. Final Score: 0-0. The second game was against Summerland. Final Score: 1-2. The third game was against Koru. Final Score: 1-1. We were set to play against Marist for 5th and 6th, I was really proud of the boys, about 4 minutes into the game,(we were leading 2-1) a referee came onto the field and said Balmoral, you re on field one now I wasn t the only one confused, we had suddenly gone from 5th and 6th to playing off for first and second. They came at us all guns blazing, like a pack of angry wolves, I was taken aback by their aggression, we were more of a technical team. In

the end they came out on top 3-0. I couldn't have been a prouder captain. Balmoral s first time ever in the Auckland Champs and we came second! Thank you Lesley for taking us out and all the parents who came to support us, we all had a fantastic day. Written by Tom Jones, Shire 5 On Wednesday, three girls team went out to a Quick Hit cricket tournament at Cornwall Cricket Club. We had two teams of year 5 and 6 girls and one team of year 3 girls. We had a great day with lots of fun and learning new skills. The girls Red team won their pool and got tickets to the Aces games. A big thanks to the parents who came with us and also to Scott from Cornwall Cricket who coached us before the tournament and gave us lots of support. My favourite part was learning new skills and playing bat prison with White Fern Anna Peterson. Brooke Wilson
