4 INTRODUCTION Theme Overview For this year s theme, OP was inspired by the futuristic, amusement park themes Travis Scott s recent album, ASTROWORLD, one of the most recognized albums of our generation. The themes in this album inspired us because just like any amusement park, UNF has so much to see. Plus, life in college is like a rollercoaster; there will be a lot of ups and downs, twists and turns, and when it s over you ll feel amazing, but wish you could do it all again. Everyone here is on their own path to shape the future, and our wonderfully diverse student body is something that makes UNF so special. Sometimes these differences, however, can make our student body feel divided, and Homecoming is a time for everyone to be united. This year s Homecoming is to remind you that no matter who you are, or what path you re on, every single one of us are living in the same world: OSPREYW RLD Homecoming Representatives By now, all teams should have registered to participate and assigned Homecoming Representatives (if you registered as an individual, you will be your own rep.) These people will be my primary contacts for all information, so PLEASE make sure that Homecoming Representatives are looking at their . Certain things throughout the week will be turned in to that person(s) and then submitted to the Homecoming Coordinator for points. They will also be required to attend a Homecoming informational meeting in January. If you/ your team was unable to register by the deadline, please the Homecoming Coordinator (opevents1@unf.edu) Event Participation Form The Event Participation form below will indicate which events your organization is planning on participating in. For more information about the specific consequences for non-attendance, see the No Show Rule in the General Rules section of this packet. If you are unclear about anything, don t worry, we understand it is a lot of information. There will be an informational meeting held with all Homecoming Representatives where we will clear up any confusion J. If your question/concern cannot wait, feel free to Osprey Production s Homecoming Coordinator (opevents1@unf.edu) 4

22 General Homecoming Rules 1. No Show Rule If a team signs up to participate in an event and does not attend/appear at the event or come to the event without required materials stated in this packet, they will be docked Homecoming Points for each offense. A ten (10) minute grace period will be allowed at the discretion of the Homecoming Rules Committee. For example, if Team A signs up for Lip Sync and does not attend, they will be docked 50 points. On the second offense, Team A will be docked an additional 100 points. On the third offense, the team will be disqualified from Homecoming 2019 and may be placed on probation for Homecoming No Show Rule 1st 2nd Offense Offense 3rd Offense -50 points -100 points Disqualification and potential probation 1. Sportsmanship Rule Each team participating in the Homecoming 2019 competition is expected to respect the other teams, the competition, and anyone helping run Homecoming 2019 (Homecoming committee, Volunteers, Alumni). Unsportsmanlike conduct in any shape or form will not be permitted. Like the No Show Rule, on the first offense the team will be docked 50 points, the second offense an additional 100 points, and the third offense will result in disqualification in 2019 and possible probation for Homecoming This rule will be highly enforced this year and is not to be taken lightly. This sportsmanship code of conduct, borrowed from the ASUN Conference and University of North Florida Athletics, will be as follows: a. Respect the rights and dignity of all persons, this includes opposing team representatives, game officials... spectators of both teams, your own teammates... b. Strive to ensure the personal safety and well-being of all persons. Make prudent and thoughtful decisions where health and safety matters are at issue... c. Refrain from conduct that adversely affects others. Follow the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would wish to be treated. d. Act responsibly at all times. Consider the potential consequences of your actions before you act. 2. Student Conduct If your organization is documented by the University Police Department, your team may be immediately disqualified and WILL be referred to student conduct. All students MUST follow all University policies and procedures. 22

23 3. Controlled Substances Policy Alcohol, drugs, being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or drug/alcohol paraphernalia is not permitted at any Homecoming competition events managed by Osprey Productions. If found with any of the aforementioned substances or items or under the influence, the individual student and/or organization could be referred to University Conduct and might be disqualified from the competition. If any substances or items are found in your team s assigned seating area after Lip Sync or Mr. and Ms. UNF, Homecoming contacts will be asked to meet with the Director of Osprey Productions, Homecoming Rules Committee, Conduct and UPD to discuss penalty. 4. Identification Osprey 1card identification is needed at all Homecoming events that have attendance points. Nobody may bring another person s ID (Osprey 1Card) to the Homecoming table to sign them in. If a person from your organization uses a fraudulent ID or an ID that is not their own, the entire organization may lose attendance points for that event, may lose points for the entire week, or may be disqualified from Homecoming per decision from the Homecoming Rules Committee. 5. UNF Spirit Wearing UNF apparel is encouraged for every Homecoming event; show your UNF school spirit during Homecoming Week! There might be chances to earn bonus points during certain events if members of your team is seen in UNF apparel. Events include Night of Fun, spectating the Golf Cart Parade, Mr. and Ms. UNF, and Swoop the Loop. 6. UNF Team Numbers A team must consist of four or more people to be competitive. 7. Point Deductions Should any problems involving conduct, late applications, or other issues that are not specified in this packet arise, the Osprey Productions Coordinator reserves the right to hold a meeting with the Homecoming Rules Committee to decide on point deductions or possible removal of teams or individuals from Homecoming. 8. Tiebreaker Should a tie occur among two or more UNF Homecoming teams, the winner will be decided by which team had a higher number of Bonus Points. 9. University Rules and Regulations All University Rules and Regulations are in effect for all events. Violations of a University Rule or Regulation in any of the events will result in the same penalty as violations of other rules. 23
