1 Titan Times September 23, 2015 Volume 10, Issue 5 Be it known to all who enter here that Christ is the reason for this school. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in its classes. He is the model of its faculty and the inspiration of its students. Dear Parents: This week marks a historical time for our church and our nation as Pope Francis visits the US for the first time. I hope you are able to take a few moments and talk to your child about the significance of the Pope s visit and to even watch some of the visit on the news. During Pope Francis visit we pray the following prayer: All mighty God of mercy and Father of all, we give thanks for the apostolic visit of Pope Francis. Keep him safe and guide him on this pilgrimage to the United States. Allow us to be a nation eager to listen and learn from his ideals and faith in You. During his visit, allow Your servant, Pope Francis, to advance social justice, promote religious freedom and inspire families in the mission of love. Let him preach Your holy gospel, reach out to the marginalized and poor and emphasize the value and dignity of every human life in our society. Let us pray for Pope Francis, the Universal Pastor of our church. May he achieve a successful journey, giving encouragement and hope to the Catholic faithful and those who have strayed from the faith. May millions experience Your graces through his example of love for others, serenity of spirit and genuine humility. We ask this through your son, our savior, Jesus Christ. Amen Peace and all good, Thomas Devolve Principal St. Andrew Campus, 555 Main Street, Milford OH Seton Campus, 5900 Buckwheat Road, Milford OH Fax Fax Tom Devolve, Principal Nick Grieco, Asst. Academically Excellent Preparation for Science Fair has begun! 7th and 8th graders have chosen their projects, have been researching background information and are working on writing their research papers. 6 th graders are practicing having conversations in Spanish as they worked in small groups and wrote and acted out skits. To complete their study of the sun, 5th graders went to the Cincinnati Observatory. Students looked through high-powered telescopes to see the spots on the sun and learned many facts including that sun spots are actually bigger than the planet earth. 3rd graders participated in an interactive and exploratory creek hike to find Cincinnati s famous fossils while visiting California Woods. Students investigated geologic processes, soil types, weathering and other forced, past and present, which shape Cincinnati. Kindergartners went on a scavenger hunt inside the classroom and out in nature looking for items that have specific shapes. Passionately Catholic Students at the Seton Campus gathered in classrooms to watch Pope Francis first address to America from the White House lawn. 5th graders will be watching the canonization of Blessed Junipero Serra by Pope Francis. This is the first time the canonization of a saint from America occurred in the USA. Usually these events happen in Rome. Inspired by Pope Francis favorite painting, Mary, Undoer of Knots, the city of Philadelphia designed a prayer sculpture which includes prayer intentions from individuals who submit their knot to be untied. These prayer intentions are scribed onto strips of paper which are added to the prayer sculpture. 8th graders submitted their prayer intentions via www. mercyandjustice.org. Pray the Rosary SEAS Church Every Friday 3:45 4:00pm All students, parents, and friends are welcome! Students will be dismissed from church or Mrs. Voto s classroom. 5 Dear SASEAS Parents, As part of our fundraising efforts, our sponsor committee reaches out to local businesses to gain sponsors for our fundraising events. Sponsors are vital; they support our school and our children s education. Their sponsorship based on the level, in turn buys advertising on T-shirts, displays their banner at events and in school gymnasium, provides advertisement on event communication and much more. We would like you to consider reaching out to your employer for their sponsorship. If you think your employer would be interested in supporting your student and our school, either through a corporate sponsor, employee donation match for the Titan Run 4 Fun or product donation please contact one of the sponsor committee members for a sponsorship letter. Submitting our sponsorship letter to them will provide them with a detailed outline of the various opportunities available. We are fortunate to have many generous businesses in our community that offer donations and support schools. Thank you for your consideration and assistance in making our fundraising at SASEAS a huge success!
