2 Hello Fellow Carefree Lot Owners: It is with great pleasure that I contribute to this week s newsletter as one of your newest Directors on the Carefree Board. I would like to thank you for your support and warm welcome received to date. Wow! We certainly were gifted with one of the most beautiful July long weekends I can recall in my eight years of Carefree living! The weekend festivities were personally highlighted for me during the Canada Day Parade, as my fellow Board members and I were greeted with Lot Owners Super Soakers, Water Balloons and even Garden Hoses!! What a wonderful level of participation with incredible creativity; not to mention we had the pleasure of our very own Carefree Queen and Mini Donald join in the festivities. In addition, we enjoyed another year of amazing Fireworks that did not disappoint celebrating our great land s 150 th Birthday. I hope the many parade participants enjoyed some cake in the clubhouse post parade. Yum Yum! Please mark your calendars and Save the Date for next year s display. Due to scheduling challenges, our 2018 Fireworks will be presented on Friday, June 29 th. This coming weekend it s time to release your inner hoarder and prepare for the Carefree Garage Sale on Saturday, July 8 th from 9:00 a.m. until noon. We also have a favorite pasttime returning for participants up to the age of 13. Remax Compass will be hosting the SLOW BIKE RACE challenge to be held on Saturday, July 8 th at 1pm. Please register at the office to participate! Please review this newsletter for other events in the weeks to come! Something to ponder The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is just that little extra.. This is our Carefree, this is our Freedom.this is our Happy! 6 Gleniffer Lake Boating Society Web Site: Each year I find myself repeating a lot of the same articles that I ve included in previous years newsletters. I figure if I can t remember writing them probably our members can t remember reading them and therefore they are worth repeating, especially for the new members. This week I would like to mention some of the regulations that are sometimes forgotten. RENTING YOUR SLIP TO A FELLOW MEMBER Members renting their assigned slip are required to get Board approval. This approval is requested on a "Notice of Rental of Assigned Slip" form, which is available either on the MARINA website or from the mailbox at lot 794. The form is to be completed and returned to the society. Each request will be reviewed and the members will be contacted if there are any problems with regard to approval. The member is still responsible for the behaviour of the renter while renting. All renters must hold a Membership in the marina society or a current Seasonal Marina Access. This regulation applies to members renting for the season or a weekend. OVERNIGHT PARKING No overnight parking of vehicles or trailers is allowed in the marina except for trailers that have been assigned parking stalls. SHARING YOUR CARD ACCESS Allowing someone to use your access card to enter the marina is not allowed and may result in your own loss of access for the season. This applies to, but not limited to, launching watercraft, golf cart entry and accessing the north beach. RIGHT OF WAY Boats exiting the marina have the right of way. This is to help alleviate congestion in the smaller space of the marina. NO SAIL, NO WAKE, WATERCRAFT SPEED While within the marina there is to be no wake or sail, and watercraft speed is not to exceed idle. Causing a wake can result in damage to the boats that are tied to the docks as they begin to rock. Please slow down. TOWABLES All towables (such as tubes) must be secured on your boat or personal watercraft while occupying the slip. Towables are not to be left unattended in a slip or on a dock or be secured behind your watercraft. These are just a few of the regulations. Please be aware of the regulations so that your Board of Directors does not have to spend their weekend policing the marina. Remember your Board is made up entirely of marina members donating their time to make the marina great for everyone and they too want to enjoy their time at the resort and on the water. I would also like to give many thanks to the greater percentage of members who abide by the regulations as they know they are there for the good of the entire membership. 12 REMINDER GOLF CART INSURANCE Please bring in your current proof of liability insurance to the Office in order to receive your required 17 sticker. We will be looking for your name, expiry date and specification that the golf cart is in fact liability covered. If the insurance you submitted last year is still viable, come into the office and we will give you your sticker. Golf carts found driving around the resort without a 17 sticker will be escorted back to their respective lots, and should remain parked until the sticker has been issued. If a golf cart is caught without the appropriate sticker more than once, a fine of $25.00 will be issued to the lot owner. Repeat offenders can expect increasing penalties including having their golf cart removed from the resort. We are confident that this procedure will ensure that our Carefree community is a safer place for all residents. For more information regarding golf carts, please see current policy statements.
