More information about this will be sent out to those divers involved by Victoria Smart Once again it s been a busy few months for our divers attending competitions all across the UK with a couple of international trips thrown in there as well. We ve had some amazing results, proving that Edinburgh really is up there with the top UK diving clubs. As well as competitions we ve also had two divers, James Heatly and Mhairi Goodwin attending GB camps in Leeds and Sheffield. There s still a few more to come before the end of the season with National Age groups and Super C coming up at the end of May and the European Championships and the European Games in June. A few people have been asking about the Celtic Cup, our Tri Nation event. We do not have any more information about this as yet, however it is looking likely to be postponed until further in the year (possibly September.) The April levels competition will still stand as our qualifier and the National diving Committee will announce the team when it has been picked. Finally, we welcome to our newest member of the club Rayne Hamilton we hope you have a fantastic time with EDC!

Children's Day 17th May We have been given an amazing opportunity to hold a bake sale on May 17th during the National Children's Day festival at the Commie. This is a first for the club and we would like as much support as possible, both to make cakes and baked goods and also to help sell on the day. All items MUST be clearly labelled with appropriate allergy warnings so please bare this in mind and volunteers should have completed a PVG check through EDC. There will be heaps going on that day around the Commie including gymnastic taster sessions, aqua run, zorbing, fitness class taster sessions so even if you're not involved in the diving display it would be great to see you and support the club. Everything will start at on the day and will wrap up by Please get in touch with Fiona Thomas if you have any queries. Fthomas70@hotmail.com Bag Packing We have managed to secure a fantastic fundraising opportunity bag packing at Tesco, Hermiston Gate on Saturday 23rd May from 10am onwards. It's a Bank Holiday weekend making this a brilliant slot so we really need to make the most of it! We expect all members (including coaches!) to attend these fundraising events as the funds go towards subsidising Club kit and trips among many others things. Without the money made here we wouldn't be able to offer these amazing opportunities so please do what you can for the Club and come along for just a couple of hours!! The more the merrier and we can have great fun as well as raising funds. There will be three 2 hour slots available: 10-12, 12-2 and 2-4. Please follow the link below to sign up for one (or more!) of these slots. We need a minimum of 10 and maximum of around 30 people for each slot so try to spread across the three available options whenever possible. We will also need some adults to attend too to help us with organisation etc. (around 2 or 3 per slot) so please sign up on the poll separately from your diver if you are able to come along and help out. Please click on the doodlepoll link in your to put your name down Don t forget to get selling your raffle ticks for our spring raffle. Tickets are 1 each and there are some amazing prizes! Including Midlothian snow sports session, private diving lesson, a meal at the Salisbury inn and many many more!

Edinburgh Diving Club first won this Trophy back in 2005 with a huge team of novice divers. With our last win back in 2010 We were looking to secure a long overdue win. With a team of 43 divers we were in a very strong position. However, with fierce competition from Leeds, Sheffield, Harrogate and Bradford it came down to the last couple of events to decide on the worthy winner. EDC were all packed up and ready to jump on the bus and go home, so were surprised, but very happy to learn we had once again won the trophy to bring home to Edinburgh with us! Well done to our medallists of Ramsay McCall (GOLD) Madeleine Finlayson (GOLD) Libby Duke (SILVER) Caitlyn Lumsden (BRONZE) and Rachel Malone (BRONZE) and also a special mention to our youngest competitor Layla Duke who had a great first competition away and loved mixing in with all the older divers! Our winning team collecting their trophy SASA Levels, Ayr 28th March Another big team event for us with 17 divers travelling through to the west coast for this level 1 competition. For many of our divers this was the last competition before they move into the level 2 event. Results were as follows Girls 7+ under Layla Duke GOLD Girls aged 8-10 Boys aged 8-10 Ellen Gillespie GOLD Kade Hamilton GOLD Anna Noake SILVER Lachlan Stark SILVER Mhairi Klein BRONZE Charlie Mabbott BRONZE Girls aged Boys Suzie Dunn SILVER Otto Kulow GOLD Katie Thomas BRONZE Eddie Gladstone Wallace SILVER

7 Nations, Stockholm 26th- 29th March Edinburgh Primary Schools Gala, 1st April James Heatly travelled to Sweden along with his coach Jen to compete in this Junior international event representing Great Britain. James came back with every colour medal available. Gold in Synchro with Ross Haslam, Silver in 1 metre and Bronze in the 3 metre event This year was split into two different levels for the first time. It was lovely to see some of the level 2 divers being challenged and getting the opportunity to compete some more complex dives. Medallists in the level 2 event were Girls Caitlyn Lumsden GOLD Lauren Ross SILVER Ciara Espin Logan BRONZE Well done James and Jen! Boys Danny Mabbott GOLD Lewis Thomas SILVER Eddie Gladstone Wallace BRONZE GB Junior Elite Championships, Plymouth 1st-4th April We had two divers representing Edinburgh at this event. James Heatly and Aaron Daly who was competing in his first Junior Elites. Both divers put in some good performances with Aaron making 2 and James 3 finals. This was James last junior elite championships so he was looking to gain that special gold medal and National title and he did just that in the boys metre event! Aaron did not let the pressure of competing in Elites get to him and he smashed out some of his new high tarrif dives including the big backward 2.5 somersaults from the 7.5 metre. Well done to both boys! James 3 metre synchro (with Ross Haslam, Sheffield) GOLD 3 metre GOLD 1 metre SILVER Platform BRONZE Aaron 3 metre 5th Platform 5th Grace Reid was competing for Great Britain in the FINA Diving Grand Prix held in Canada last month. Grace achieved a 9th place finish in the individual 3 metre spring board event and then partnered up with Katherine Torrance From Leeds to finish 6th in the synchro event. Some great scores from Grace and good practise for some of her events later on in the year well done!

Robert McCubbin in Novice Men's took Gold on Platform, Silver on 1M and a creditable 4th on 3M, chucking a back dive tuck that he'd only learned days before. Nick Smith in Novice Men's took Gold on 1M, Bronze on 3M and a fighting 4th on Platform with a very respectable 76 points. Sandy McKay had a dream start to his Masters diving career with a brace of Golds on 1M and 3M in the Novice Men's category. Sandy, for Those About To Rip, We Salute You :) Greg Anderson in his first novice competition put in four solid dives in a very competitive field of seven divers. Roddy McBlane left the pool on Sunday clutching a brace of Bronze medals well-earned in the Novice Men's M and 3M comps. Moving on to the more experienced divers.. Rich Thomas in the Novice Men's took Gold on 3M with an excellent back dive pike (I know cos I scored it 6.5) and a Silver in the Platform, just a couple of points ahead of his Edinburgh team-mate Nick Smith. Nick got his revenge on 1M though, smashing it with over 100 points, Rich just missing out on a medal by a point. Christie O'Carroll in her second Novice Ladies comp took Bronze on 1M, well done Christie - remember to breathe! :) Adrian Ashby who had just returned from Gran Canaria the night before tendered a varied list of dives in the Men's M Masters. It was all going according to plan right up to and including the inward 2.5 which the judges deemed to be an inward 2 and a bit. Without the failed dive, Adrian would have been knocking at the door for a medal but more power to you for chucking it. Janette Wood also left on Sunday with a brace of Gold medals in the Novice Ladies M and 3M. Janette is already booked in for Corby in November, way to go Janette! Lastly, our two most experienced (a.k.a. "best") divers, Sarah Bainbridge and Jo Skinner earned 4 medals between them. Jo made it a hat-trick of Silvers in the Ladies events, Sarah put in a gutsy performance in the Ladies Platform, earning herself a Silver medal. She set herself a challenging list on 3M but didn't quite hit the form she'd shown in training. Isn't that so often the case in diving - I feel your pain! Jo's last dive on 1M, a back summy straight, generated the biggest cheer of the day as she over-balanced, looking for all the world like "null pointes" then did a lightning-fast last-minute dive salvage maneouvre, hitting the water feet-first and earning about 5 points. As they say in Yorkshire, "Owt's better than Nowt". All in all, a fantastic weekend - onward and upward for Edinburgh Masters Diving. Written by Grant Forrest EDC Masters Chief!

Girls 7 and under Layla Duke GOLD Level 1 Boys 8-10 Boys Girls 8-10 Girls Lachlan Stark GOLD Jamie McConnell GOLD Katie Stephen GOLD Suzie Dunn GOLD Rayne Hamilton SILVER Sol Mayers SILVER Laina Ross BRONZE Katie Thomas SILVER Charlie Mabbott BRONZE Calum Morrison BRONZE Ella Brown BRONZE Level 2 Boys Girls 8-10 Girls Girls Eddie Baker GOLD Libby Duke GOLD Lauren Ross GOLD Gigi Slater GOLD Otto Kulow SILVER Isla Cormie SILVER Lois Leaver BRONZE Chloe Sinclair BRONZE Level 3 Boys 13 and under Boys 14 and over Girls 13 and under Girls 14 and over Lewis Thomas GOLD Aaron Daly GOLD Mhairi Goodwin GOLD Charlotte Briggs GOLD Angus Menmuir SILVER Lucas Thomas SILVER Hannah Cunliffe SILVER Courtney Ross SILVER Danny Mabbott BRONZE Robbie Hutchison BRONZE Caitlyn Lumsden BRONZE Marianne Hume BRONZE What an outstanding week for our two performance divers who achieved a BRONZE medal in GB s first ever international outing in a mixed synchro event! Grace and James performed some really good quality required dives to put them in 5th place after the first two rounds. I m sure they would have been happy with a 5th place finish, but as we know these guys are competitors and put together some exceptional optional dives scoring 70+ points per dive. The finished in BRONZE medal position overtaking some really experienced and good world class divers on the way. Grace says "We are unbelievably happy and can't believe it! " and James we really didn't think that was going to happen. This is our first international event, it's just crazy." WELL DONE from Everyone at EDC!
