1 the PAW PRINT Oct From the Administrator s Desk Parents, It has been an exciting month here at the school. We all enjoyed our Missions Conference. Our students attended chapel and each class had an opportunity to have a missionary visit their classroom. It is exciting for our students to be exposed to missions and to see the need for us to help spread the gospel to those who have never heard. Our desire is to teach our students that missions does not necessarily mean going to a foreign field, but that we can be involved in missions right here where we live. Be sure to ask your child what they learned during Missions Conference. The most exciting thing that happened here at MCA during Missions Conference was when six of our second graders trusted Christ as their Savior. I am thankful for our teachers and their sensitivity to the needs of our students both academically and spiritually. October brings excitement for our school family as we have our Fall Festival and Homecoming. This is a great family day for our school. There will be lots of fun activities for our students. We will begin the day with welcoming our alumni back for our annual alumni soccer game. We will have our dessert auction, and new this year will be a corn hole tournament. Make plans to attend our Fall Festival on October 14th. Lastly, I want to thank you for your involvement in our World s Finest Chocolate fundraiser. Our desire is for each student to sell two cases of candy bars. This is our only fundraiser of the year, and we will use the proceeds to continue to update our facilities and programs here at Milford Christian Academy. We have been blessed with a wonderful campus. We have done much work over the last five years here and we will continue to make improvements in every area possible. Many great prizes are available through World s Finest, but also Milford Christian Academy is offering up some great prizes as well. Our World s Finest representative has shared with me that no other school in which he partners with through fundraising offers the awesome prizes that we offer to our student body. 2 Teacher Feature Mr. Matthew Beighle was born on October 12, 1994, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born to Ann and Rex Beighle and was raised alongside Nathan and Ben Beighle. Mr. Beighle was saved on a Wednesday night in February of He was sitting with his dad in a Wednesday night church service while the pastor preached on the dangers of hell and being lost. After listening to the service and asking his dad a few questions, that night Mr. Beighle made the great decision to accept the Lord Jesus Christ into his life. He then went on to graduate from Milford Christian Academy and the University of Cincinnati. Mr. Beighle graduated with the following degrees: Associates in Marketing Management and Bachelors in Business Administration, and he is currently working towards a Masters in ducation Administration through Pensacola Christian College. In high school Mr. Beighle played basketball, soccer, and baseball; while in college he just played basketball. Mr. Beighle currently teaches seventh and eight grade nglish along with seventh and eighth grade boys P. He has no children and is not married. He lives with his two dog Pepper and Coco along with his two cats Casper and OJ. His favorite subject is nglish and his interests outside of school consist of cooking new recipes and spending time with his family. His hobbies are cooking, reading, and sports. When he is not doing work for school he writes papers and watches lectures for his masters degree. Mr. Beighle has been called by the Lord to start a Christian school in a city where there are few or none at all. His favorite season is fall, and his favorite holiday is Thanksgiving. His favorite food is popcorn and his favorite dessert is cheesecake. His favorite board game is Risk and his favorite color is purple. His favorite animal is the goat, and his favorite place is with his loved ones. Mr. Beighle s funniest family memory was of when his brothers Ben and Nathan took him skiing on the Perfect North Slopes. When Mr. Beighle first got on the snow he fell and, instead of helping him, his brothers watched for twenty minutes while he struggled until eventually he succeed in getting up. Mr. Beighle would like to be remembered as a man that has done all he can do to further the Word of God through teaching and training the next generations and showing God through his life. Mr. Beighle s life verse is Micah 6:8 He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? The following is a life lesson he would like all students to know: The importance of going to a Christian college. Your college years are some of your most influential and I can testify from experience that going to a secular college is giving Satan abundant amounts of weapons to use to destroy my faith. Only by the abounding grace of God is my faith as strong as it is now after the attacks on it that I experienced at secular university. You have two choices: temporary sinful pleasure, or the everlasting kingdom of God. 2

3 Grace Finley Matt Finley Blaze Sawyer Kaitlin Scutt Our World s Finest Chocolate sale has kicked off, and we re very excited for this new opportunity. The sale kick started on Thursday the 21st, with each student receiving two boxes apiece. We use all the money raised from the sale to funnel back into the school, making improvements like new bleachers and gym floor, the newest changes to our school, and more, such as new floors and paint. However, this sale doesn t just benefit the school; the students can also have the chance to earn prizes through the sales. The top seller in the first week of school will win $250 in cash; the opportunity to earn this reward will end on September 29. Other rewards for chocolate sales include: For preschool, the top selling student will receive $200 or a family membership to the zoo. For the top sellers of 1-6 and 7-12 grade, they will receive one month s free tuition during December, meaning more money during Christmas time. 1-6 grade students who sell $420 (7 cases) or more will receive an allexpense-paid trip to the Ark ncounter at the Creation Museum. 7-12th grade students who sell $720 (12 cases) will receive a week-long trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee. This will be right next to spring break, giving students 2 weeks off from school. The top selling class of K5-3rd grade (per capita) will receive a class trip to the zoo. (ach student must sell at least $60 worth to attend the trip.) The top selling class of grades 4-12 (per capita) will receive a class trip to a Reds game. (ach student must sell at least $60 worth to attend the trip.) This competition lasts until November 6, All money is due that day to qualify for any rewards. ach bar is $1 apiece, and MCA earns 50 cents per bar sold. The flavors available are milk chocolate, dark chocolate, WF crunch (Like a Crunch bar), caramel (a favorite selection among buyers), and almond. Remember to help support our school through this important fundraiser. 3

5 Lila Daniels Vanessa Forsee Aleyha Griffin Abby Kyle H.O.M.. Missions Conference This week s Missions Conference was a definite success. Many missionaries, from all across the globe, shared their experiences on the mission field during school, chapel, and church. Some missionaries brought in exotic items from the country they have served in and gave testimonies to each of the classes. When asked what her favorite part of Missions Conference was, Marie Hollingsworth, a fifth grader, responded, I liked how the missionaries brought stuff in from their countries. Another fifth grader, Joshua Carter, said that he like the sermons. Ninth grader, Haley Page, thought that Missions Conference was really touching and influential. Missions Conference was a blessing not only to the students but also the teachers. Mr. Beighle, a junior high teacher said, my favorite part of Missions Conference was probably the missionaries coming into the classrooms and making an impact on our kids. ven though Missions Conference had to come to an end, we want keep the missionaries in our hearts by praying for them regularly. 6 Lauren Burdine Olivia Mounce Kaitlyn Sexton Ashley Smith PAW Tournament This year at the annual Milford Christian Academy PAW tournament our volleyball and soccer teams competed against other local teams in a weekend full of games. The tournament started Friday afternoon and ran through Saturday evening. Both our Junior Vasity and Varsity girls volleyball teams played very well with both teams winning the tournament undefeated. For our Junior Vasity team, Katie Heck and Olivia Mounce were selected to represent Milford Christian Academy on the All-Tournament team, and Anna Kapitula received the Most Valuable Player award. For our Varsity team, Kaitlyn Sexton, Kandice Sexton, and Maddie Ragle were selected for the All-Tournament team, and Kaitlyn Sexton received the Most Valuable Player award. Our soccer team also played in the PAW tournament finishing in third place. Players Johnny Anderson, Thomas Alford, and Grant Patterson were selected for the All-Tournament team. Milford Christian Academy is very proud of how our teams played in the tournament and look forward to continuing to cheer on our volleyball and soccer teams as they finish their seasons.
