Charity Collections For January Although our Varsity Cruise- Ins do not have a formal entry fee, we do have a Charity each month that we support In January, we collected $363 for Susan G Komen for the Cure A good start to the year! New Member and a New Sponsor! We started off the New Year with FIVE new members! One, Dwight Thomas, also became a Club Sponsor! Dwight is a local attorney that handles Criminal and Civil cases He is also a big car and bike enthusiast! Speaking of New Members We got this in an from a young lady wanting to join us Howdy There! I'm Victoria with the and would love to join the Cool Cruisers! Y'all put on the BEST car shows in Atlanta, and it would be an honor to be a part of such a well run organization! We are pleased to welcome Victoria Willetts to our family! Please make sure to say hi to her at the next show! 2018 Club Calendar Tilly Lanier had a GREAT idea A Club Calendar! It is too late to do one for 2017, but a Cool project to work on this year and put out later in the year for 2018 Please start shooting photos of your show cars (in seasonal settings) so that you can submit them later, when we start gathering the images Bill s Living His Dream! For years, Bill Whatley has dreamed of having his own Classic and Muscle Car sales showroom and it s just about to come true! Bill and his wife, Leigh, will be opening Turn One Classic Cars on March 1st! They have leased showroom space at 518 Speedway Blvd in Hampton, just outside of turn 1 of Atlanta Motor Speedway Bill has been collecting classics and hot rods for years, and has been to the Mecum Auctions to fill out his inventory He is expecting to open with cars Bill will be a Club Sponsor with his new venture and will support several of our events! He purchased a home near Santa Rosa, California Thad says that he will be starting a West Coast chapter BACK DESIGN of the Cool Cruisers! Thad s shop, Certified Auto Repair, will remain in business in Decatur under the leadership of longtime employee Victor and chief wrench turner and Cool Cruiser Paul Chambers Please stop by Certified Auto Repar for all your auto repair and maintenance needs! New Volunteer Coordinator We are pleased to announce that Dennis Behnken has taken on the task of our new Volunteer Coordinator He will be reaching out to you to ask your help at our Club shows and cruise-ins Jim Flowers will be our Dayof-Show coordinator and Larry Vaitkus will be assisting both Jim and Dennis with their tasks Karen O Neal is our Charity coordinator and will be working to make sure our charities make the most from events that benefit them Pat Durbin is our PA and Sound guy Pat is a retired Roadie and true car guy! In Our Prayers Please keep Mike Steger and his family in your prayers Mike s wife Jan passed away unexpectedly on December 31st Thanks, Leigh Fragnoli Leigh and Quality Aerosols have been Club Sponsors since DAY ONE, helping us become the great club we are We regret that due to unforeseen circumstances, he will no longer be able to continue his sponsorship or provide free product at our shows We appreciate all Leigh has done for us, and wish him and Quality Aerosols the best for their future Atlanta International Auto Show UPDATES We LOVE being a part of the Annual Atlanta International Auto Show, but It s ALWAYS a Wait and See how much space we will have (they need to sell the most space they can, then fill in with us) As of press time, it looks like we will have pretty much the same as last year! We already have quite a few wanting to be In the show, and will let everyone know who s in ASAP What we do know we need Volunteers to help work our area at the show It s a blast to be there and talk to all the spectators! Very common comments are These are the REAL cars and Your cars are the best part of the show We will be sending s out soon asking you to sign up for a shift or two We also need event Sponsors to help with the costs of T-shirts, sign, banners and other expenses Please contact Rick ( ) if you can help us Move-in day is Monday, March 20th, display set-up is Tuesday and the show opens at noon on Wednesday We have scheduled a Club Meeting for Sunday, March 5th, 1:00 pm at the Greater Good BBQ in Tucker Watch your for the latest updates, as we get them from Metro Atlanta Auto Dealers Association (MAADA), the show hosts and organizers

7 Page 7 TIMES Our First Varsity Cruise-In a SUCCESS! Who holds a Car Show in January? WE DO! We really got lucky with the weather for our first Cruise-In at the Varsity Gwinnett We had a record setting day in the 70 s making us look like Geniuses, instead of crazies, if it had been cold and rainy! We had a GREAT first-time crowd of over 75 cars! The cruise-in started with a real bang with over 25 members of the Un-Stable Mates Mustang club parading in nearly 2 hours prior to the official start of the event Around the official start time, we got a great crowd of really fine show cars and spectators! BACK DESIGN Everyone appeared to really enjoy our format of a free and friendly cruise-in, great tunes playing and tasty food a few steps away! We gave out Car ID Cards and Name Badges to make it even more user-friendly Even though it was a free event, we had a collection bowl for donations to benefit Susan G Komen for the Cure We collected $363! We gave out 3 awards: The Varsity Pick, The Sponsor s Award (Streetside Classic) and the Club s Coolest Cruiser award See page 2 for the winners We feel this event will grow and grow! Join us for our second event on February 19th!

We will have our famous Popular Choice Awards (Top 15, Best Modern/Classic, and various special awards), Door Prizes, 50/50 Raffle, GREAT music and tasty BBQ (breakfast and lunch available) All we need is a BEAUTIFUL, mild day for the show Entry fee is a donation to Susan G Komen for the Cure Varsity Monthly Cruise-In Sweetheart Cruise-In Car Show at DAVE & BUSTER S in Marietta We are SO EXCITED about this new (for us) Venue! We have teamed up with Southeast Wheels Events (com) and Mike Thies to put on this show! This will follow the Cool Cruisers usual show format (popular choice awards, entry fees to our charity) Sunday, February 19th 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm 6045 Dawson Blvd Norcross, GA Saturday, February 18th 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm 2215 D and B Drive Marietta, GA Mike is working on a line-up of Collector Car Celebrities to make appearances at the show, including Jay Leno (if his schedule allows it) and Sam Memmolo Come early or stay late and EAT & PLAY inside Dave & Buster s! They feature some great food and a ton of games that will appeal to all ages Our Thanks to Streetside Classics for sponsoring this event; our friends from Georgia Street Rod Association will be there as our featured club! Our first Cruise-In was GREAT! Come on out and see how much fun we have at our Every-Third- Sunday shows No entry fee, but help us support our Charities and enjoy a Chili Dog and a Frosted Orange!
