1 CISV CANADA - National Leadership Training Hello! It is my pleasure to introduce you to CISV Canada s NLTC. Our job is to train all of the leaders that CISV Canada s sends internationally and nationally every year. We plan and run the national trainings that occur in the spring of each year, and ensure that our training materials are kept up to the current international standards. Aynsley Hague Chapter: Victoria CISV has been an important part of her life since she joined the Victoria chapter and was selected as a Village delegate.

Her involvement in the various levels of Junior Branch, complemented by her youth experiences at Village, on Interchange and at Seminar Camp, allowed her to acquire and practice these skills among

2 Aynsley Hague Chapter: Victoria CISV has been an important part of her life since she joined the Victoria chapter and was selected as a Village delegate. Among the many things CISV has given her is the opportunity to develop valuable leadership skills. Her involvement in the various levels of Junior Branch, complemented by her youth experiences at Village, on Interchange and at Seminar Camp, allowed her to acquire and practice these skills among her peers. Now as an adult she has the opportunity to give back to the organization. As a member of the Canadian Leadership Team she brings a wealth of experience having been a Village leader, Village, Step-Up Camp, Seminar Camp, Youth Meeting and Mosaic Staff, as well as an active participant at the international level including her recent role as an international committee chair. In her free time, besides spoiling her nephew and niece, she likes to knit and occasionally you may find her doing laps in the pool! Heidi Smith Chapter: Halifax (but lives in Saint John) Heidi has been involved with CISV since 2004 and a member of the NLTC since Heidi has been a leader with both the village and step-up camp programs. She has been local leadership training co-chair, leadership selection chair, and a minicamp director. Training experience: attended numerous Regional Training and attended TTT Training in Philadelphia in Heidi is very excited about the potential for the NLTC and to work with all of the wonderful Canadian leaders, staff and JC's Heidi is an engineer and fitness instructor in addition to her involvement in CISV.

Kathy Lewis Chapter: Fredericton Kathy is currently a lawyer in Fredericton, and enjoys traveling and being outside with her dog Finnigan as much as possible in her free time.

She has attended 2 AIMs as Canada s National Junior representative, and has worked on the international Mosaic and IJB Committees.

3 Kathy Lewis Chapter: Fredericton Kathy is currently a lawyer in Fredericton, and enjoys traveling and being outside with her dog Finnigan as much as possible in her free time. She was first introduced to CISV through JB when she was 14. She has been a delegate to a Step-Up camp in Italy, and a JC in Norway. She has attended 2 AIMs as Canada s National Junior representative, and has worked on the international Mosaic and IJB Committees. This is her fourth year on the NLTC, and she is really excited about contributing to CISV Canada s reputation as providing leaders of the highest quality! Dana Machin Chapter: Waterloo Dana was only introduced to CISV in 2008, although she wishes that she had known about it earlier so that she could have partaken as a delegate. She has been a leader for 3 interchanges, a village, and a step-up program. She also staffed a step-up program in Waterloo. Dana s been involved with the regional workshops by training both interchange leaders and step-up staff. At the local level, Dana is a board member and is responsible for selection and recruitment of her chapter. Dana likes to get dressed up and wear clothes that don t involve an elastic waistband, as she lives in sweats all day as a high school Phys. Ed teacher. In her free time she is most often partaking in some sort of sport such as her favourite, synchronized skating.

He has been trained by the NLTC, helped as a program trainer for the NLTC, and has been on the NLTC for 2 years as a member.

4 Marcel Pennington Chapter: Saskatoon Marcel was a lucky 11 year old to experience a Village in Spain. Since that first CISV experience he cooked at a Village, attended a Step-Up Camp, JC d in Toronto, and in 2010 lead a Village to Iceland. He has been trained by the NLTC, helped as a program trainer for the NLTC, and has been on the NLTC for 2 years as a member. He is a bicycle fanatic, and pedals year round in Saskatoon even to local mini-camps on occasion. Other than two wheeled hobbies he enjoys outdoor air, snorts from his pug, vhs movies, sweet RC cars, and home cooked food! Katt Hryciw Chapter: Calgary CISV has been a part of Katt s life since she first heard about it as a student teacher back in Ever since, she has been an active volunteer at the local, national, and international level, doing camps every summer and sometimes over the winter break from her regular job as a middle school teacher. To date, she has led, staffed, or directed four Villages, one Interchange, two Youth Meetings, and three Seminar Camps, has served as the JB Liaison and the Local Trainer, is currently serving a term as the National Interchange Coordinator, and has no plans to slow down anytime soon! In her spare time, Katt likes to sing in a choir, go to the movies, swim, play dodgeball, and travel the world. She has double-jointed elbows, loves corny jokes, and would be thrilled if you mailed her some peanut M&Ms as a surprise!

Emilie Durocher Chapter: Vancouver Emilie joined CISV Vancouver just after turning 11 and has been lucky enough to take part in a Village, Interchange and Seminar camp as a delegate.

Out of CISV, Emilie is a Nursing student who loves to spend spare time ( Ha!) swimming, biking, cooking and knitting.

5 Emilie Durocher Chapter: Vancouver Emilie joined CISV Vancouver just after turning 11 and has been lucky enough to take part in a Village, Interchange and Seminar camp as a delegate. She jumped in with her local JB at 13 and has been active with them since, now as the JB Liaison. In 2012, Emilie led a group of 6 on a YM- her first and so far only camp as a leader. Out of CISV, Emilie is a Nursing student who loves to spend spare time ( Ha!) swimming, biking, cooking and knitting. Cristen Young Chapter: Halifax Cristen joined CISV in 2011 and has loved every minute of it. She has been a Village Leader (Norway), a YM leader (Austria) and International and National Step-Up Staff (Austria and Victoria, BC). She has also become heavily involved in her local chapter as she sits on several committees and serves as the Local Leadership Trainer. At regional leadership trainings, she has trained Village and YM leaders. When not at a CISV camp, Cristen is a substitute teacher, a high school rugby coach and an avid rugby fan.

Over the last 14 years, she has had the opportunity to experience a number of different programs as a participant, staff and leader as well as participate in various national meetings and training

6 Alyssa Alidina Chapter: Toronto (previously Vancouver and Halifax) Alyssa joined CISV in the fall of 2000 but is new to the NLTC this year. Having had a grown-up job for several years now, she realizes that as JB'er, CISV taught her leadership skills that are not afforded to many at such a young age. Over the last 14 years, she has had the opportunity to experience a number of different programs as a participant, staff and leader as well as participate in various national meetings and training sessions again as a participant and a leader. Much to the surprise of many who knew this tomboy in her youth, Alyssa know works for one of the big banks in Canada (hint: the green one) and can usually be found dressed up like a grown-up in the Financial District of Toronto. She does a little bit of travel for work (though it's nowhere near as fun as CISV) and is looking forward to her first year on the NTLC, hoping she can make a valuable contribution to the amazing team of people across this great nation! Phyllis-Ann Chapter: Halifax Phyllis-Ann discovered CISV Halifax in 2012 and after attending a few local events and loving everything CISV stands for and believes in she became a leader for a step up in 2013 in Gothenburg, Sweden. It was such an amazing experience for her and her delegates that she lead another group of CISVers to Lyon, France in In her real life Phyllis-Ann is an elementary school teacher and enjoys hiking and travelling.
