Shows cannot be chosen by more than one team and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Teams may send in their requests beginning Monday, February 5 th at 10:00 pm to Emily Picinich. The request should include a maximum of 6 shows in number order by preference (1. Team s first choice, 2. Team s second choice if 1. is not available, 3. ). Teams will be notified which choice was approved and officially assigned to their team

All rules and regulations, events, and schedules are subject to change. Should a change occur, all teams will be notified ASAP through their respective Greek Week chairs and given an updated packet. II. Contact Policy a. To Whom Do You Turn i. Questions regarding pre-point opportunities, point distribution, attendance, or rosters should be directed to Emily Picinich. ii. Questions regarding Greek Week Chair Trainings, the Career Center, or Education Night should be directed to Samantha Sock. iii. Questions regarding Greeks Got Talent should be directed to Jordan David. iv. Questions regarding the banner or video should be directed to Ischtar Alerte and Jordan David. v. Questions regarding the photo should be directed to Ischtar Alerte. vi. Questions regarding Sports & Recreation should be directed to Bri Blackley. vii. Questions regarding service opportunities or philanthropy fundraising should be directed to Annaliese Williams. viii. Violations should be reported using the Grievance Form on pg. 28 and submitted to the Office of FS Life within 24 hours of its occurrence. ix. The Executive Board will not tolerate complaints in reference to the information and policies stated in this packet. Courteous communications for official Greek Week matters and clarification are welcome; arguments about the details of the packet are not. b. Method - 4 -

5 i. Teams and organizations should communicate with the Executive Board through their Greek Week Chairs. ii. Aside from justifiably urgent matters, please use as the primary form of contact and allow up to 48 hours for a response. iii. subject line should start with Team # and signature should include your organization. iv. Bobbie Bonne-Anne and Camilo Restrepo should be CCed on all s regarding Greek Week. III. FAU Student Code of Conduct a. All teams will be required to follow all policies outlined by the Office of Student Conduct Student Code of Conduct (4.007), Student Government & Student Organizations (4.006), Alcohol Policy 1.2, University Policies and Regulations which can be accessed in full at b. Alcohol and Substance Abuse Policy i. 1.2 II: The unlawful possession, use or abuse of alcohol is strictly prohibited at any university event. No university student is to participate in a university activity while impaired by the use of alcohol. The university condemns any act related to the consumption of alcohol that impairs, interferes, or endangers the safety or enjoyment of others, including the individual who chooses to consume the alcohol. ii. 1.2 VII: Violations of this policy will subject the individual not only to university sanctions but also to potential criminal prosecution by the appropriate authorities. c. Any team whose members are deemed by the Greek Week Executive Board to be acting in an unprofessional manner including, but not limited to, disorderly conduct, vandalism, theft, unauthorized entry, verbal or physical threats will be referred to the Greek Week Advisor and/or the Fraternity and Sorority Life office to decide appropriate action, which may include disqualification from Greek Week. d. Any team that violates FAU s policies may be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students and disqualified from Greek Week. IV. Any and all issues regarding a team s eligibility and/or disciplinary actions are ultimately up to the discretion of the Greek Week Advisor and/or based on any alleged violation referred by the Greek Week Executive Board. V. Other than pre-point opportunities through the Career Center, team members must properly check-in with the Executive Board for their attendance at events to count. If a team does not attend or participate in an event, 0 points will be awarded. VI. In the event of a tie in attendance for the breakout sessions of Education Night, the full amount of points for the higher tied ranking will be awarded to all tied teams; for any other ties, the points associated with the tied rankings will be averaged and equally awarded to each of the tied teams. VII. It is the obligation of every team and chapter to read and understand this packet in its entirety. VIII. Every chapter must turn in a completed and signed Greek Week 2018 Agreement Form on pg. 29 in order to participate in any event associated with Greek Week

Students can determine their individual needs for their appointment. Services offered by career counselors include, but are not limited to: Choosing a major Learning about jobs for your major Taking career assessments Connecting to internships, both on- and off-campus Exploring available part- and full-time jobs Applying for graduate school For attendance to be counted, you must complete the following steps: 1. During your appointment, mention you are also there for Greek Week 2. On your way out, ask for the Greek Week sign-out sheet at the front desk and record your name, appointment time, and name of the career counselor who conducted your appointment Rankings will be determined based on participation percentage. 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Pre-points: Career Expo Date: Wednesday, February 21 st Time: 12:00 pm 4:00 pm Location: Recreation and Fitness Center Attire: Business professional Presented by the FAU Career Center, the Career Expo is an opportunity for students to network with employers who have hiring needs for all industries and all majors. Business attire is required. It is highly suggested that you bring multiple copies of your resume; it is preferred that - 6 -

7 your resume was critiqued in advance by a career counselor. In addition, LinkedIn will be providing a free professional headshot service inside the event. The list of employers and organizations attending is available to view on Owl CareerLink. For attendance to be counted, you must complete the following steps upon arrival: 1. Sign in at the entry check-in table via your owl card 2. Visit the Career Center s booth inside the expo and tell them you are signing in for Greek Week Rankings will be determined based on attendance percentages. 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Thanks to the Career Center, the team with the most pre-points awarded from career counseling and the Career Expo will also receive a sponsored pizza party! Education Night Date: Monday, March 26 th Time: 5:30 pm Location: Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium Attire: Dressed to pin It is with great excitement that we present to you an Education Night like never before! All team members are invited to attend the first portion of the event, the Keynote speech, and score bonus points for their team. Following the Keynote speaker, a select number of members from each team will take part in more intimate and interactive break-out sessions, each tailored with a specific focus to enrich our Greek community. Each team will be required to register* a maximum of 60 team members who will attend the break-out sessions by Monday, March 12 th at 5:00 pm. These individuals registered will attend the keynote speech and the breakout sessions. For this night to be most effective and worthwhile, all chapters and councils must be represented; at least 1 member of each chapter on your team should register and attend. It s encouraged that the members of smaller chapters within each team are given priority to the 60 spots. Check-in will start at 5:30 pm and end at 6:20 pm on the dot. Pin attire is required for admittance. At check-in, individuals registered for the break-out sessions will receive a name tag with their schedule for the evening; individuals attending only the keynote speech will receive a wristband. Each team s attendance will be determined by the number of wristbands turned in at - 7 -

8 the end of the keynote speech and the number of name tags turned in at the end of the last break-out session. The night will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. We ask all individuals in attendance to behave professionally, show respect to the speakers and facilitators, and engage in the subject matter. Misconduct will not be tolerated. Individuals seen using their phone, tablet, laptop, etc. will cause point deductions** for their team. Disruptive individuals will be asked to leave, their attendance will not count, and further point deductions*** will be taken. Points will be awarded for breakout sessions attendance; rankings will be determined based on number of participants. Bonus points will be awarded based on overall attendance percentages. Late submissions and changes to your team s registration after the deadline will only be considered in the event of extenuating circumstances and may be subject to point deductions. Team members registered for the breakout sessions who do not attend the event will receive a 1-percentage point deduction toward their team s overall attendance count and a 2-person count deduction toward their team s breakout sessions attendance count. **Each team member observed by the Executive Board or an event volunteer to be inappropriately using electronics will receive a point deduction toward their team s attendance. Should the incident occur during the keynote speaker s presentation, 0.5- percentage points will be deducted from the overall attendance count; during the breakout sessions, 0.5-person count from the breakout sessions attendance count. ***In addition to their attendance not counting, each team member asked to leave will receive a point deduction toward their team s attendance. Should the incident occur during the keynote speaker s presentation, 1-percentage point will be deducted from the overall attendance count; during the breakout sessions, 1-person count from the breakout sessions attendance count

9 Sunshine State Classic Step Show Entertainment Date: Saturday, March 24 th Time: 7:00 pm Location: Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium Price: $5 The National Pan-Hellenic Council at Florida Atlantic University presents the 23 rd Annual Sunshine State Classic Step Show. Step teams from across the state of Florida will compete to earn the title of Step Show Champion! The theme this year is 90 s TV Shows. Tickets go on sale on February 14 th at 12:00 pm and can be picked up at the Student Union Box Office during business hours. Doors open at 7:00 pm on the day of the event and the show begins at 8:00 pm. This event is open to the general public and ticket availability cannot be guaranteed. Rankings will be determined based on attendance percentage. 1 st nd rd th th th 150 Greeks Got Talent Date: Wednesday, March 28 th Time: 6:00 pm Location: Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium Rules and Guidelines I. The order of performances will be chosen by teams in order of cumulative amount of money raised for Relay For Life and Out of the Darkness as of Sunday, March 25 th at 10:00 am. II. Performance may include, but is not limited to: stepping, singing, strolling, dancing, lipsyncing, marching, etc. III. A minimum of 10 team members must be in the performance. At least one member from each chapter on the team must perform. Any violations to this rule will be subject to point deductions. IV. The Greekelodeon theme must be incorporated in each team s performance. V. Song choice - 9 -

10 VI. VII. VIII. IX. a. Each team must submit a list of song requests to Jordan David; submissions will be accepted starting Monday, February 5 th at 10:00 pm. Song choices will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis. Teams will be notified if the songs on their list are approved, unapproved, or already claimed. b. A maximum of 8 songs can be reserved. c. One of the reserved songs on each team s list must be the theme song to their team s chosen Nickelodeon show. d. Explicit language in the performance s music is prohibited. Any violations to this rule will be subject to point deductions. e. Two formats of each teams final cut of the music for their performance is due to Jordan David by Tuesday, March 27 th at 12:00 pm. The music must all be condensed to one track and not exceed 10 minutes. i. Music file sent via ii. Music file on a USB/flash drive Choreographers from outside of each team s active members may NOT be used. Any violations to this rule will be subject to point deductions. Length of performance a. Each team will be allotted a maximum of 5 minutes to set up, 10 minutes to perform, and 5 minutes to breakdown. b. Each teams video will be played during their 5-minute set up time. c. Any performances that exceed the 10-minute time frame will be subject to point deductions. No penalties will be incurred if the performance length is under the time limit. Judges and Scoring a. Performances will be scored based on the following: i. Overall talent and presentation ii. Originality and creativity iii. Use of space and organization iv. Incorporation of Greekelodeon theme v. Adherence to rules and regulations b. A panel of judges will score all six teams performances. c. Score sheets will be available for release on Thursday, March 29 th. d. First, second, and third place performances will be announced at the end of Greeks Got Talent. Previews a. Each team must schedule 2 previews of their performance with Jordan David ( or text ) between February 26 th March 16 th to ensure all regulations are being met and followed. b. The performance does not have to be final or complete for either preview. c. Along with the Entertainment Director, any Executive Board member may observe a team s performance to ensure its content is appropriate and adhering to the stated rules and guidelines. All Executive Board members have the right to suggest any changes they deem necessary. d. Teams must request any additional stage equipment they want to reserve, such as the microphone, prior to or during their last performance preview. e. Any material added or changes made after each team s final preview must be presented at the GGT dress rehearsal and reviewed by the Executive Board. Any

11 new material is subject to potential removal from the performance if it is deemed inappropriate. f. Failure by a team to schedule or conduct the necessary performance previews may result in point deductions or performance disqualification from Greeks Got Talent. X. Dress Rehearsal a. All teams must participate in a mandatory dress rehearsal on Wednesday, March 28 th at the Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium. b. Jordan David will schedule a time slot for each team to rehearse between 1:00 pm 4:00 pm. Each team will have exactly 30 minutes from the start of their allotted time to enter the auditorium, block the performance, and exit the auditorium. c. Each team must have a representative present to establish the team s lighting cues and production needs. This representative will also be the team s sound/light person during their performance at Greeks Got Talent. d. Failure by a team to have sufficient representation at the dress rehearsal may result in point deductions or performance disqualification from Greeks Got Talent. e. Rehearsals are subject to any and all mandates of the Executive Board. f. Performances may not be altered after approval from the Executive Board. If a team performs unapproved material at Greeks Got Talent, their performance will be subject to point deductions or disqualification. XI. Final Performance a. Doors for the event will open at 6:00 pm and the show will start at 7:00 pm. b. GGT Captains will meet with Jordan David at 6:45 pm. c. Each team s sound/light person must be in the production box for the entirety of their performance. d. No clothing, props, or items portraying or displaying vulgar themes, images, or messages will be permitted. See-through clothing and shorts that show the rear are prohibited. Glitter is strictly prohibited. Any violations may result in point deductions or performance disqualification from Greeks Got Talent. e. Inclusions of profanity, lewd conduct, obscene gestures or scenes (i.e. disrespecting other chapters), or any other inappropriate acts or behaviors will result in disqualification from the event and possible punitive actions by the FS Life Office. f. Projection screens and videos during the performances are prohibited, except for showing each team s video immediately prior to their performance. Points will be awarded based on the rankings determined by the judges scores. 1 st nd rd th th th

12 Marketing Pre-points: T-shirt Orders Due Date: Monday, March 12 th Time: 12 pm Submit to: FS Life Office Price: $9 each T-shirts will be available for purchase and distributed to teams during Greek Week. Each chapter not team is responsible for submitting the order and payment for their members who wish to purchase a t-shirt. Orders must be placed by turning in the T-Shirt Order Form on pg. 25 and payment to the Greek Week mailbox in the FS Life Office by the stated deadline. Acceptable forms of payment include a personal check, business check, cashier s check, or money order. The check/money order must be made out to Runner s Edge and the memo must state Greek Week and chapter name. Rankings will be determined based on percentage of t-shirts ordered by team organizations compared to total number of team members. 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Team Photo Due Date: Friday, March 23 rd Time: 5:00 pm Submit to: Ischtar Alerte Take a team photo that positively promotes FAU s Greek Life, relates to the Greekelodeon theme, and displays unity of team organizations. Pictures must be sent to Ischtar Alerte by Friday, March 23 rd at 5:00 pm. Late submissions will be subject to a point deduction from each judge s final score of the photo. Team photos will be uploaded to the FAU FS Life Instagram on Sunday, March 25 th at 12:00 pm. Requirements and Guidelines I. Picture file type must be formatted for successful upload to Instagram II. Picture must incorporate the Nickelodeon theme III. Picture must indicate which team it belongs to IV. Picture should display Greek unity

13 Photos will be scored by the judges at Greeks Got Talent based on creativity, quality, incorporation of Greekelodeon theme, and adherence to guidelines. Video Challenge Due Date: Wednesday, March 21 st Time: 11:59 pm Submit to: Jordan David at Each team will create a video that positively promotes FAU s Greek Life, relates to the Nickelodeon theme, and displays unity of team organizations. Videos must be submitted and approved by the Executive Board by the stated deadline. If a team video is not approved, the team will be notified and asked to submit a revised video. If an acceptable, revised video is not submitted by the stated deadline, a late extension will be granted to no later than Sunnday, March 26 th at 12:00 pm. Late submissions will be subject to a point deduction from each judge s final score of the video. The video will be uploaded to the FAU FS Life YouTube channel and Facebook page on Sunday, March 26 th at 5:00 pm. Each team s video will be played before their performance and judged at Greeks Got Talent. Requirements and Guidelines I. Video length may not exceed 2 minutes. II. Video must incorporate the Greekelodeon Theme. III. Video must incorporate all chapters of the team. IV. Aspects that may be included, but not limited to, are: a. The benefits of Greek life and the bonds of sisterhood/brotherhood b. The merit of our values, rituals, and/or traditions c. Your contributions to our Greek community and the contributions made to communities beyond Greek life, FAU, Boca Raton, etc. d. Greek unity: no matter the letters, teams, etc., Greeks are one community body Remember, this is an opportunity to show the importance, value, and excellency of the Greek community here at FAU, as well as around the nation. Videos will be scored by the judges at Greeks Got Talent based on creativity, quality, incorporation of Greekelodeon theme, and adherence to guidelines. Banner Due Date: Tuesday, March 27 th Time: 5 pm Location: FS Life Office

14 Each team can create one banner on a flat twin size bed sheet to show their team spirit, display unity of their team s organizations, and positively promote FAU Greek life! Banners will be displayed at Greeks Got Talent to be judged. Banners will be scored by the judges at Greeks Got Talent based on creativity, quality, incorporation of Greekelodeon theme, and adherence to guidelines. Points will be awarded and rankings will be determined by the judges total combined scores for the photo, video, and banner. 1 st nd rd th th th

15 Pre-points: Owlthon Giveback Date: TBA Time: TBA Location: TBA Service and Philanthropy Points will be awarded based on total dollar amount spent from collected receipts. 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Relay For Life Date: Friday, March 23 rd Time: 6:00 pm 12:00 am Location: FAU Track and Field Price: $15 Relay For Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Relay is staffed and coordinated by volunteers in more than 5,200 communities and 27 countries. Volunteers give of their time and effort because they believe it's time to take action against cancer. Your donations to Relay For Life help the American Cancer Society fund groundbreaking cancer research, critical patient care services, education and prevention initiatives, and so much more. Registration is $15 per person. Teams can register at by choosing JOIN THIS RELAY. One of each team s Greek Week Chairs should be the first to register from their team by selecting START A NEW TEAM and naming their team Greek Week Team #. Team members can then register by choosing JOIN A TEAM and selecting their respectful team. Teams can raise funds through online donations supporting their registered participants or their team. Included with all donations totaling $15 or more is the option to receive from Conde Nast a one year subscription to one of the following magazines: Vogue, Bon Appetit, or Architectural Digest. Rankings will be determined by attendance percentages of registered participants and total funds raised by teams online ACS donor drives as of 11:59 pm on March 23 rd

16 Attendance 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Fundraising 1 st nd rd th th th 75 Out of the Darkness FAU Campus Walk Date: Sunday, March 25 th Time: 9:00 am 12:00 pm Location: Housing Lawn, Barbecue Area The Out of the Darkness Walk is an event held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention that raises awareness, funds scientific research and provides resources and aid to those affected by suicide. AFSP has set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by The Walk is a journey of remembrance, hope, support, and a walk that unites a campus and community a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our lives and our loved ones. The walk is a.8 mile partly shaded route on a sidewalk and paved streets around the Housing Lawn Bar-B-Q area on the Boca Raton Campus. We will walk the loop twice: the first time to raise awareness of mental illness and suicide prevention efforts, the second to support those who have been impacted by suicide loss, and those who are working on mental health and wellness. Teams can bring posters/banners to hold during the walk that identify their team, indicate their affiliation with Greek life, and send a message about supporting suicide awareness and prevention. You can promote the event and cause on social media outlets using #OutoftheDarkness, #20x2025, and #stopsuicide. Schedule: 9:00 am 10:00 am: registration, check-in, resource fair, and breakfast 10:00 am: opening ceremony 10:15 am: walk begins 11:30 am: closing ceremonies Teams can register at through 12:00 pm on Friday, March 23 rd. Team members can then register by completing the following:

17 Participant Type: 1 Walker or Team Captain Role: Join a Team Team: selecting their respectful team. Anyone who misses the online registration deadline but would like to participate can register in person at the walk from the time check-in begins until the walk starts. There are several ways teams can collect donations for AFSP: 1. Teams can raise funds online by sharing the direct link to their team s ASFP fundraising page. 2. In addition to fundraising online, team members will be able to turn in any additional cash or check donations at the registration table on the day of the Walk. Any individuals who raise $100 by the day of the Walk will receive an official Out of the Darkness Campus Walk T-shirt. 3. Teams can get businesses to sponsor the Walk. Sponsorship opportunities start at $100. All sponsors will receive marketing and publicity benefits. Sponsorship level benefits are on pg. 26 and the sponsorship agreement is on pg. 27. In order for the sponsorship amount to be included in the total funds a team raises, a copy of the completed sponsorship agreement must be sent to Annaliese Williams by Friday, March 23 rd at 5:00 pm. Rankings will be determined based on attendance percentages of registered participants and total funds raised as of 10:00 am on March 25 th. Attendance 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Fundraising 1 st nd rd th th th 75 Owlthon Money Wars Date: Friday, March 23 rd Wednesday, March 28 th Teams will compete in raising funds for Children s Miracle Network Hospitals through OwlThon. The competition will begin on Friday, March 23rd at 12:00 am and will end on Wednesday, March 28 th at 5:00 pm. 18 1 st nd rd th th th 75 Day of Service: Palm Beach County Food Bank Date: Monday, March 26 th Time: 8:00 am 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm 4:30 pm Location: Student Union, Room TBA On Day of Service, volunteers will commute to the Palm Beach County Food Bank in Lantana, FL, to organize and package food for the PBC community. There will be one volunteer shift in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each shift will include an orientation to provide an overview of the organization, safety regulations, and project instructions. 8 people from each team must participate; 4 in the morning shift from 8:00 am 12:30 pm and 4 in the afternoon shift from 12:30 pm 4:30 pm. Each team must send a roster of their 8 participants in the format on pg. 24 to Annaliese Williams by Monday, March 19 th at 12:00 pm. Please be on time. Breakfast will be provided to the morning shift volunteers and lunch to the afternoon volunteers! Buses will bring all volunteers to and from the Student Union and the Palm Beach County Food Bank. Points will be awarded based on total number of participating team members in attendance of both shifts

Admission is free for students who show their Owl Card at the stadium entrance. This is a great opportunity to show your Greek and Owl pride! Each team member wearing FAU gear or chapter letters will receive a.3 bonus added to their team s attendance count. Rankings will be determined based on attendance percentages. 1 st nd rd th th th 50 Greek Games Date: Tuesday, March 27 th Time: 5:45 pm Location: Henderson Fields Flag Football: Coed I. Rosters a. Each team will have a roster of 7 players and 3 alternate players. b. Every team player must be an active member of one of their team s chapters and currently enrolled at Florida Atlantic University in good standing. c. A minimum of 5 female players on each roster is required. d. At least one member of each chapter must be represented in one of the 10 spots on their team s roster. e. The final list of players must be ed to Bri Blackley and registered on IMLeagues by Wednesday, March 7 th at 12:00 pm. II. IMLeagues a. Each team s Greek Week chairs will be listed as the team captains for each team and will be able to invite players to join their IMLeagues page. b. Players MUST be signed up on IMLeagues and listed on their team s online flag football roster to be qualified to play

20 III. IV. Game Day Rules and Regulations a. On the day of, all players must arrive and be checked in between 5:45 6:00 pm. Any teams with players who are not present or checked in by then will be disqualified. b. Each player must wear closed-toed sneakers, athletic shorts with no pockets, and a tucked-in shirt. No jewelry is allowed. c. Each team must appoint one team captain prior to the start of each game who will communicate with the Executive Board and referees on their team s behalf. d. A minimum of 3 female players from each team must be in the game at all times. e. Good sportsmanship is expected to be practiced on and off the field. Failure to do so by players or spectators will result in a deduction of points for their team. f. Any player who tries to tackle another player or who gets involved in any kind of confrontation with a member of another team will be automatically disqualified and asked to leave the event. g. Referees have the authority to warn or disqualify any player who violates the rules of the game or displays unsportsmanlike conduct. Arguing with the referee will automatically result in disqualification of that team member for the remainder of Greek Games and may further be subject to a deduction of points for their team. h. Official rules for flag football can be accessed in full at Game Setup and Specifics a. The first game(s) will start promptly at 6:00 pm. b. A coin toss at the start of each game will determine which team starts off with the ball. c. Games will consist of two 10-minute halves, with a running clock. Time will stop on dead ball and on penalties in the last two minutes of the second half. d. Each team is entitled to one 60 second timeout per half. e. After the first round of games, the teams who had the highest point differential will advance. f. Championship games will consist of 2 15-minute halves with a running clock. Time will stop on dead ball and on penalties in the last two minutes of the second half. Points will be awarded based on final rankings. 1 st nd rd th th th 150 Side Games I. Three side games will be played while flag football games are happening. They will begin at the start of the first flag football game and end at the final whistle of the championship game

Each team will have 3 attempts at each side game. Any eligible team member may compete in any of the side games at any point within its allotted timeframe.
