1 Complete Entry Packet 2018 "The Event Where Everyone Is A Star!" For your convenience, the following pages include all the Weekend Workshops, the 2018 Show Challenges, the Class List, the weekend Schedule, the new Photo Show categories, the fun Do-Si-Do Obstacle, the All Star Challenge, the show Entry Form, Halter Class info and the Halter Show Entry Form - all in one packet. This show is for fun, experience, education, and meeting new friends - an awesome weekend! Don't hesitate to enter something that sounds interesting - even if you're new to llamas. It's all fun and definitely not all about winning! Ribbons, cash premiums, and prizes are given for all events. There's something for everyone - and everyone is a "star" at this show! Ten placings given in all llama classes. The single entry fee includes all events, stalling, a Friday night Pizza Party, a full dinner for all family members on Saturday, and breakfast on Saturday. There is an additional charge of only $3 for materials for each of the Fiber Workshops. The Halter Show is a separate entry fee. If you can't trailer your llama to the show, consider using one of our "loaner llamas" and enjoy all the events! The Vet Seminars are unique, interesting, and educational. In Seminar A, recommended for older youth, an actual surgery of gelding will be performed along with a discussion on a veterinary careers. In Seminar B, youth will be learning hands-on about good care including taking temperatures, respiration, giving injections, nail and tooth care. Seminar C will discuss new thoughts on parasite management with emphasis on resistant parasites, Famacha, and Refugia. Adults invited also! All this is care and herd management to keep your animals healthy and happy - especially for those new to llamas. There are two Sub-Jr. Classes in the Class List, Showmanship & Obstacle. These two classes are for those younger youth siblings who are old enough to participate but under 8 years of age. We can provide a llama for you if needed. The entry fee of $30 includes both dinners, breakfast, money for the Friday night auction, and allows them to participate in the All Star Challenge and the Fiber Workshops. Sub- Jrs. may not participate in the Vet Seminars. 1. Fill out the Jamboree Entry completely including all class numbers. 2. Page Sign up for the Poster Class, the Photo Show, and the Fiber Show by including the class numbers on your entry form. 4. Take a sneak peak at the new All Star Challenge in this entry packet. 5. 2 Weekend Workshops 2018 The Event Where Everyone Is A Star! Please sign up for your selected Workshops on the attached Workshop Entry Form below. This will help us estimate materials needed. However, you may change workshops during the weekend if you change your mind about which ones you would like to attend. Showmanship Class Workshop: Advanced Showing Skills 5:00 6:00 Friday afternoon. Showmanship skills with the Judge! Now get the hints, tips, and finishing touches that can make YOU that "perfect showman". Benefits not only pertain to the Youth Showmanship classes, but help you show and place your favorite animal in Halter classes. And, of course, there will be time for group discussion and questions. Youth Judging Workshop: You Be The Judge 3:30 5:00 Friday afternoon. Learn how to select the best animal in a halter class, how to place a showmanship class, and how to score performance classes. Be prepared for the Youth Judging Classes on Saturday. Performance Class Workshop: Performance Perfection 3:30-5:00 Friday afternoon. Performance Perfection! How to get that perfect score! What does it take to negotiate the obstacles in a smooth partnership with your animal? Obstacle courses must be done as a team you and your animal smoothly taking all the obstacles. Hands on - bring your animal to the workshop. Animal Health Seminars: All About Your Llama" 4:30 Saturday afternoon. A healthy animal is one who is able to stand out in show classes and is happy to perform his duties. You are the caregiver for your animal he depends on you to know his basic needs AND any new methods of herd management. These workshops will cover various forms of animal care and knowledge. Vet Seminar A Surgery - gelding procedure! This seminar is recommended for older youth only. Discussion on a career in veterinary medicine. Vet Seminar B Top Notch Care! Hands on - hows and whys. Vet Seminar C Resistant Parasites! New methods for parasite management, Famacha, and refugia. Adults welcome. Presented by Purdue University.

3 Llama Fiber Workshops: Working With That Wonderful Fiber" 3:30 5:00 Friday and 5:00 6:00 Friday. Love fiber and crafts? Your choice! Select one of our three fiber workshops at one session and another at the next session. Or remain in the same one the entire time. All Fiber Workshops have a $3.00 fee for all materials needed to complete a project. Wet Felting: Learn the basics of wet felting and go home with a completed a project. Fee $3.00. All materials supplied. Weaving: Learn weaving techniques and discover the many creative opportunities this process provides. Select a project all materials supplies. Fee $3.00. 4 2018 Show Challenges The Event Where Everyone Is A Star! Performance Champions: A Performance champion will be awarded in all three age divisions, Junior, Intermediate, and Senior, for the 4-H Show, the ILR Show, and the ALSA Show. To be eligible for this award, you must participate in all three performance classes pack, public relations, and obstacle. (and Showmanship for ILR) Versatility Champions: The versatility champion scores will be tabulated from all the exhibitor s scores from the following classes: obstacle, public relations, pack, youth judging class, and showmanship. This award will be given to the top-scoring Exhibitor in all three age groups both for the 4-H Show and the ALSA Show and ILR Show combined. Winner will receive a special show jacket! (to be eligible, you must show in all available youth classes showmanship, obstacle, PR, pack, AND Youth Judging). Do-Si-Do Obstacle: Enter Class 39 A new fun obstacle class! A new twist to a fun obstacle class... Just Enter Class 39 and find out what the new class is all about! Guaranteed to be fun! Prizes will be awarded. All Star Challenge: A Fun Event for your spare time! A brand new event! Instructions for this challenge will begin right after the Opening Ceremony. The challenge will then start and will continue throughout the weekend. Points will be gathered by way of classes and other fun events. Prizes will be awarded. Takeachance Showmanship: Enter appropriate age, classes 7-12 Takeachance is for the enthusiastic Showman with a lot of confidence!! Take your chances! In this Showmanship Class, the exhibitor will select their animal by pulling a name out of the feed bucket. The class will be judged only on how you present and handle the animal you are showing the judge will not have a question for you. Casual attire will be appropriate no show dress clothes. This class will be offered in two limited time slots on Friday. Enter this class on your entry form. Generous "Llama Bucks" to use for the Jamboree Auction will be awarded to the "Great Eight" in all classes!! Poster Class: Classes Show us your artistic skills and llama knowledge! This poster competition will be held with three Divisions: Senior, Intermediate, and Junior. Class must be entered on your entry form, Classes and posters should be brought to the show and registered on Friday. Posters must be on a 22 high x 28 wide poster board and backed with a firm backing such as cardboard or foam board. Posters must be in a horizontal format or they will not be displayed and judged. A 3 x 5 card must be attached to the back with your name, address, and class age division. If you choose to, you may put a plastic covering over your poster for protection. If size and specified directions are not followed, your poster will not be

5 accepted for judging. This class will not be divided into ALSA, ILR, and 4-H divisions just age divisions Jr., Int., & Sr. If you can not attend this fun weekend, you can still enter the Poster Class by sending your poster to the show with one of your friends and a small entry fee. Cash prizes and ribbons, as well as Jamboree Llama Bucks, 1st through 4th place, are sponsored by Julianne Jaensson of Carpenter Realtors. Fiber Show: Classes The Fiber Show includes full fleece judging, spun yarn, and finished items made from llama fiber. Show us your work! See Fiber Show information on website. Placings will be awarded in all categories. Skillathon: Be sure not to miss the great Llama Skillathon! The Skillathon consists of three different stations... maybe a puzzle, maybe identifying objects, maybe llama care, maybe safety? It s always fun to see what this annual Skillathon comes up with! This Challenge is open on Saturday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon over in the Swine Barn. Complete this Challenge anytime between your classes on Saturday morning. No need to sign up ahead of time. Great Prizes will be awarded in each age division. Photo Show: Classes Two brand new categories for 2018! And a new Best of Show prize - a Fuji Instant Camera! Get busy with those lama photos! Two categories for each age division - enter in both if you'd like. Ribbons and Cash Prizes will be given. See more information, the two categories, all the specifications, and the entry forms on the website. Helpful hints for taking that winning photo are posted on the photo information sheet. Two Categories: Enter one or both! 1. Llamas In Action! 2. Llamas In Nature! Contest Rules: 1. All entries must be a photo taken by the youth and entered in the appropriate division. 2. All photos must be 8 x 10 size. Either landscape or portrait format is acceptable. 3. All photos must be mounted in an 11 x 14 mat. 4. All photos must relate to one of the categories. 5. Entries may be made in any of the two categories: Llamas In Action or Llamas In Nature. 6. Only one entry per category is permitted by each youth. 7. Each photo must have an entry tag attached. Entry tag is on the website. 8. All entries will be on display throughout the All American Youth Jamboree. 9. Judging will take place at the Show on Friday. 10. ENTER: Bring your entries to the Registration Desk at the Youth Jamboree. Awards will be given in each category as well as Grand and Reserve Grand Champion in all age divisions! 13 Open Halter Classes at the Jamboree Two Separate Shows... ALSA Sanctioned and ILR Sanctioned Halter Classes are open to all animals - not just those entered in the Youth Jamboree. Youth may enter Halter Classes also, but Youth Jamboree classes will have priority in the schedule. Halter Classes are not included in the Youth Jamboree entry fee. Open Halter Classes will be on July 1st, One Day Show ALSA classes start at 9:00 a.m. ILR classes start at 12:00 p.m. Entry Fee... $30.00 per animal each show No Stalling Fees. Show from your trailer. Stalls available if staying overnight. Health Requirements - All animals from within Indiana do not need to have a health certificate.
