2 RUGBY U11 Mixed Rugby Tournament 22 nd March Report written by Mrs HT On Wednesday the U11 mixed Rugby team played in the local schools tournament at Uplands. Just as we started the rain came down. We played strongly to win our first two matches against Ticehurst and Frant. Unfortunately the weather conditions got worse and we could not feel our hands and feet! We lost our next two matches. Overall we came third behind Mark Cross and Frant. Well done to everyone who played in these terrible conditions and a special thank you to Mrs Blake who made us hot drinks when we returned to school. CHESS Report by Elena Y4 (very modestly reported, Elena! Mrs B) On Thursday 23 rd March, the Sacred Heart chess team played against St Thomas a Beckett and Harlands. In the first round, we played St Thomas a Beckett. We knew these would be some hard first games but we fought well. Sam was the last one to be playing and after concentrating hard, he won the game terrifically! The end score was 3-1 to us! In the second round we played Harlands. These were also tough opponents. We all battled to the very end and Harry stole a great win! In both games Oliver played very well and thought about all his moves carefully. In this round it was also 3-1 to us! In the end, we won with 6 points, St Thomas a Beckett on 4 and Harlands on 2. This means we go through to the finals in the summer! Thank you Mr Anthony for watching the games, Mr Currah for supporting us and Adele and Sarah for the lovely tea. Congratulations must also go to the following chess players for receiving their golden ticket through to the County Chess Megafinal: William Y1 Oscar Y1 Anabel Y1 Francesca Y1 Charlie Y1 Belle Y2 Alfred Y2 Savannah Y2 Josephine Y2 Arabella Y2 Nate Y2 Charlie A Y3 Charlie D Y3 Monty Y3 Chloe Y3 Oliver Y3 Monty Y4 Jack Y4 Avaani Y4 Elena Y4 Sam Y6 Harry Y6 HOT LUNCHES MENU MON TUES WEDS THURS Simply Chicken with Brown Rice and Grated Cheese OPEN MORNINGS Mayfield : Thursday 27 th April Speldhurst Sausage with Baked Beans and Mashed Potato Chicken Makhani Curry with White Rice and Naan Bread Roast Beef or Quorn Fillet with Yorkshire Pudding, Roast Potatoes and Gravy STARJUMPZ INFORMATION EVENINGS starjumpz.com NEW TALKS for Speech & Language Therapy Treatment Tuesday 21 March pm pm :Enhancing Health with Better Breathing Habits. 3 Another busy and exciting week at Sacred Heart School where learning is fun! Thank you to the children, their teachers and Mrs Bradford for a beautiful and moving celebration on Thursday. Happy Mother s Day this weekend!

4 A big thank you to the PTA for organising the Easter Egg Hunt, which was enjoyed thoroughly by the children as you can see from these photos. You may notice a special guest who seemed to pop up in most photographs! School Council and extra helpers were at the school gates early this morning to collect donation for CAFOD. Thank you to our army of helpers and to parents/carers who gave so generously. The School Council also sold Fruit kebabs at break time and all the monies raised were added to the pot for CAFOD. The kebabs were very popular and hopefully gave the children all the energy they needed for the Skipathon!

5 Thank you to Phoebe Y5, Amelia M Y5 and Katy Y3 who designed some fantastic posters for the Skipathon. They were put up around the school and everyone has enjoyed them. Thank you girls for taking the time with your designs
