2 Overview Galaxy Allstars will be putting together all star cheerleading teams for boys and girls ages 3 years old to 18 years old. The athletes will learn stunts, tumbling, and choreography consistent with the rules implemented by the United States All Star Federation (USASF). A two minute and thirty second routine will be constructed with these skills and the athletes will perform this routine at several competitions between November 2018 and April 2019, including the Galaxy End-of-Year Exhibition in April 2019 which will prepare us for our final competition of the season in May 2019 (US Finals and/or D2 Summit). We are excited to be entering our 2nd season and have learned over the year that while all of the trophies, banners, jackets and rings are great accolades, nothing compares to the feeling of belonging to the Galaxy Family. While All-star Cheerleading has exploded in growth across the US, we believe that not all gyms are the same. With over 100 athletes passing through our doors weekly, we are the best gym in the area as the premier gym of its kind. Through all of this, we ve stuck to our humble beginnings and kept the focus on developing our youth through this amazing sport. 3 Team Placement Galaxy Allstars will be holding evaluations for the teams on November 4th, Tryouts will be held to determine the proficiency in which each athlete can perform the required skills in each level. All athletes will be placed on a team. The placement of your child is at the discretion of the Galaxy coaching staff. Team placement is never final, however, our coaching staff will place your child in an appropriate level for his or her skills at the time of evaluations. We ask that you not request team changes until we can fully see what the team structure looks like. The goal of team placement is to place the athletes where they can progress as an athlete and be successful, but also still have a fun learning and growing experience, all the while making new friends. Galaxy Allstars is a member gym of the United States All Star Federation (USASF) and as such, will follow all age restrictions and rule guidelines set by the USASF. Your athlete s age for the season will be determined by their age as of August 31, In addition to age, skill level is also used to determine team placement. The USASF, not Galaxy Allstars, regulates what skills are allowed in all-star cheerleading at each and every level. Listed below is an example of the skills allowed for any of the levels that your cheerleader may be required to perform in each of the possible levels they may be placed in. Keep in mind, your child will be expected to compete all skills within the skill level UNASSISTED in a routine. Athletes will continue to be evaluated on these skills throughout the year, with the expectation that the athletes can successfully and consistently execute the skills in their level. For your reference, the below tumbling skills are intended to be used at a starting point for team selection. Athletes should have these skills mastered to make a team of this level. Athlete that are new to tumbling will be placed on a level 1 team. Galaxy Allstars has a team for everyone from the beginning athlete to the elite veteran. All of our teams are designed to be successful at every level. We believe in the benefits of leveling athletes correctly and have seen great success and improved athlete confidence by following this philosophy. Athletes are subject to change in level if their skill level changes. LEVEL 1 Back bend kick over and back walkover encouraged. Athletes will be allowed to do two leg stunts at shoulder level and one-leg variations below the bases shoulder level. (This level also included beginners - your athlete

4 will learn these tumbling and stunting skills during the season. There are no requirements to be placed on a level 1 team) LEVEL 2 Standing back handsprings and round-off back handsprings are required for this level. Stunts allowed will encompass all of the Level 1 skills as well as extended two leg stunts and one leg stunts at the bases shoulder level. LEVEL 3 Standing back handspring series and round-off back handspring back tucks are required. Round-off tucks and punch front tucks are allowed. All stunts in levels 1 and 2 are allowed as well as extended one leg stunts and twisting dismounts. LEVEL 4 Standing back tucks, jumps to handspring tucks, standing handsprings to layout, and round-off handspring layouts. Stunts will include release moves, double twisting dismounts, and twisting mounts to one leg and more. LEVEL 5 RESTRICTED Round-off handspring full twists, standing handsprings to full twists, and jump to tuck. Stunts will include release moves, double twisting dismounts, advanced baskets and pyramids. LEVEL 5 Layouts are accepted, although most passes should end in full and double full twists, standing and cartwheel full twists, and minimum of a single jump to tuck. Anyone with a specialty pass will be allowed to perform their specialty pass. Jump to tuck, jump handsprings to full or double full twists. Stunts will include release moves, inversion stunts, free flipping stunts, double twisting dismounts, and advanced baskets and pyramids. Galaxy and the coaching staff will focus on a standard of excellence and execution of proper technique. All skills are expected to be performed safely and with good technique and our coaches will strive to keep up that expectation. Tumbling is an important part of competitive cheerleading. The term tumbling is used to describe gymnastic elements such as cartwheels and back handsprings. Our tumbling packages are designed for athletes who are serious about advancing in the sport. If your athlete loves tumbling and cheerleading they should be training their skills with our coaches who know the sport of cheerleading inside and out. Local gymnastics clubs do not offer the same level of expertise in cheerleading specific tumbling. Athletes training with a tumbling package at Galaxy will advance their skills much quicker.

5 For families wishing to purchase a yearly tumbling package, the schedule will be available Friday, June 1st to view. Book all your lessons on Saturday June 9th as of 9:00am through Jack Rabbit. There are many benefits to being a package holder, including a savings of 10-15%, a consistent schedule with a level appropriate coach, a progress report half way throughout the season. A semi-private is a 45 minute lesson with a maximum of two athletes per coach. If only one athlete is registered or attends, it then becomes a 30 minute private lesson. The additional 15 minutes of the semi-private lessons may be purchased for an additional $10 at the discretion of the coach at the time of the private lesson. Pricing varies by coach and will be provided to you at the start of the season. Team Practices and Competitions Each team will practice on a regular basis throughout the season. All teams will practice for a total of 4 hours weekly split into two, 120 minute practices. Practice days will be twice a week for the competitive cheer season (November through April) with additional practices added if the coaching staff deems necessary. Athletes will be required to attend all practices 2 week prior to a competition in order to participate. Any athlete not in attendance will not perform. NO EXCEPTIONS! Financial Commitment: Joining an allstar program is not only a commitment to yourself, but also a commitment to your child's team. 6 Tuition: Every athlete on the all star team at Galaxy will pay a monthly tuition for his or her training. Below is an explanation of the costs involved with competition cheerleading: Tuition: $85 per month for 6 months (November Through April ) This is the fee paid to Galaxy Allstars for the athletes training. Athletes will practice 4 hours per week. This fee is paid monthly to Galaxy Allstars and must be paid by the 15 th of each month. Athletes not up to date on payments will not be allowed to participate in practice or competitions. Competition Fees Each all star team at Galaxy will attend a variety of competitions within driving distance throughout the season. Competition season is between the months of November and April, with post-season Bid Competitions in May. Regular season competition fees will be $100 per month beginning in November and ending in April for a total of $ for the season to ensure we get the lowest competition fee price. Post-season competition fees for US Finals or D2 Summit or any other Invitational Only Bid competitions are NOT included in regular season competition fees. Those fees are determined based on placement at qualifiers for those events and will be made available to you soon as possible following the qualifier. Uniform, Bow, Practice Wear & Makeup Competition uniform, bow and practice wear are not worked into the monthly tuition fees and are as follows: $175 for the uniform, $25 for competition bow and $65 for practice wear. Practice wear is optional. Uniforms will be sized at tryouts. Uniform deposit is due no later than November 15, The balance is due upon pick up. Makeup will be purchased outside of Galaxy using the guidelines provided in this packet. These items are available at Walgreens, Target and Walmart. Choreography/Music Choreography and music are not worked into the monthly tuition fees and will be $200 per athlete. Choreography will be an all-day event and every athlete must be present in order to remain on the team. This day, and every practice afterwards, is critical to the team s success and growth.

7 USASF Membership For each athlete to be registered for competitions, the USASF mandates that each athlete be a member. The term for this membership is from August 1 st to July 31 st of the following year and must be renewed each year. This membership is not included in the monthly tuition fee and is a one-time payment. Each athlete will need to pay $30 directly to Galaxy Allstars prior to the first practice of June. Booster Club: Fundraising Events The athletes and their families will be given the opportunity to join a booster club in order to participate in fundraising to help offset the costs of tuition, as well as raise money for the team as a whole. Expectations, Guidelines and Rules Attendance Policy Athletes get stronger, advance their skills and begin choreography during the summer. Practices are important, but we do want families to enjoy their summer vacation time, camps, and other summer activities. Summer practice policy is (June 11th - September 4th); if you are in town, you need to be at practice. From September to May, practices are 100% mandatory during our competitive season. Each week teams will participate in an hour of team tumbling included in the schedule above. During the competitive season (September-May) practice is essential to the success of the teams. Teams are most successful when they abide by our attendance policy. Our attendance policy is as follows: We expect that all efforts are made to attend team practices and that families take their commitment seriously. Cheerleading at Galaxy must be a priority for your family. If your athlete is absent from practice, it negatively impacts the team, and will affect their role in the routine. The 4 practices leading up to a competition are known as Blackout Practices and absolutely can not be missed. Any athletes that miss, do so with the understanding that the coaches may make modifications to the routine to better prepare the team for success or may result in an athlete not being able to compete at the upcoming event. Continued attendance issues will be addressed by the program director or the owner and can impact your athlete s future team placement at Galaxy Allstars. Cheerleaders will be allowed to miss a maximum of 3 practices starting August 1, In the event an athlete cannot attend practice, the team needs to be contacted immediately. If the team mom is not contacted, the athlete will NOT be able to participate in the following practice or competition. Doctor notes are required for an athlete to sit out of practice due to an injury or serious illness. In the event an athlete is sick but not contagious please send them to observe practice in case of routine changes.

Any athlete not in attendance will no longer be able to compete. Athletes are welcome to participate in other extra-curricular sports; however, if the sporting event becomes a major conflict with the cheer season, the athlete will be asked to leave the program. Competition attendance is MANDATORY by all team members. Missing a competition for any reason will result in the athlete s removal from the program and there will be no refund. The Galaxy Allstars End-of-Year Exhibition is also considered a competition and attendance for this date is also mandatory. Refund Policy Galaxy Allstars requires a 60 day written notice if your child will be leaving the program. This notice should be ed to our Program Director at VAGalaxyDirector@gmail.com. No refunds are given for competition fees, choreography, music or tuition for any reason at any time. Please note your account will continue to be charged until written notice is received. In addition, the above mentioned fees will be charged to your account for early termination. NO refunds are given on clothing, uniforms, makeup, or bow for any reason at any time. NO refunds are given if you are asked to leave the program for violation of our Code of Conduct. Athlete and Parent Commitment Attached to this packet is an Athletic Commitment form that must be completed if the athlete chooses to be a part of this program. This form must be signed and returned by June 1st and should be accompanied with a copy of the athletes birth certificate, and the first monthly tuition payment. The athletes will have their photo taken on the first day of practice. The photo and birth certificate are for the United States All Star Federation (USASF) registration and membership process.

12 VA Galaxy Allstars Participation Statement Being a part of ALL STAR cheerleading requires HUGE commitments from both parents and athletes. If your child must miss a practice for any reason, you are required to contact the office and let them know (and know WHY) prior to the start of practice. Please be sure to read and review each statement and initial each one indicating that you have reviewed it. Practice Attendance Cheerleaders are required to show up on time to each practice. If for any reason you will be arriving late or unable to be at practice you are required to call the office before practice starts. All Coaches reserve the right to pull cheerleaders from competitions or dismiss them from the team due to multiple absences or absences prior to a competition with no refunds. Excused Absences are as follows: Unexcused reason: death in the family * Too much homework * Birthday parties Summer vacation * Grounded * Fair, amusement park, School function/grade required * Shopping * At friend or family Illness or injury - in cases of illness or injury, we require that cheerleaders attend practice to keep up with changes in the routine except in the case of fever or other contagious illness. Respect/Gossip and Rumors Cheerleaders/Parents are to respect all team members, coaches and Galaxy Staff at all times. We will not tolerate any disrespect, back talking, etc. If you have a complaint or concern about the way that something is being handled by the Galaxy Allstars staff please bring it to our office s attention immediately. We cannot fix problems that we are not aware of. We will not tolerate any gossip or rumors in the gym or on Facebook/Twitter. This causes distractions during practice times and can affect the team s performances. Any gossip or rumors heard will be addressed directly between that person and the Galaxy staff. If we feel a parent or student brings a negative effect to the team, they will be dismissed from the program, with no refunds. Competition Rules All Competitions are mandatory. All cheerleaders MUST arrive to competitions at the ARRIVAL TIME provided! If you are late to a competition and not ready when needed, you will be charged a penalty fee of $ No exceptions! All cheerleaders should show good sportsmanship, dress in APPROPRIATE Galaxy attire, have hair and makeup done as required by Galaxy and represent the Galaxy program in a respectful manner. All cheerleaders are required to attend their team s award ceremony and be in full uniform including shoes, hair bows, etc. If you are unable to stay for awards you are REQUIRED to notify your coach prior to the competition. Cheerleaders are expected to show good sportsmanship at every competition and cheer for each team. Under NO CIRCUMSTANCES are parents allowed in warm up area with teams. This is enforced by the competition companies. All jewelry MUST be removed before warm-ups. It is not your coach s responsibility to hold your jewelry during competition. Undergarments MUST NOT SHOW under uniforms. Only clear bra straps will be accepted. Any colorful bras or sports bras must be removed prior to warm-ups. NO EXCEPTIONS. No matter the child s age, it is the parent's responsibility to make sure all attire, time & behavior rules are followed. Gym Rules No one is allowed on gym equipment without an instructor s supervision. Cheerleaders are required to attend all practices and camps. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ARE PARENTS allowed in the practice area. If you need to speak to the coach, please do so before or after practice or ask your team mom for help. Respect and proper language & behavior are expected at all times from athletes and parents. Items left in the gym are not the responsibility of the Galaxy staff. Those not wearing proper practice wear will have 100 jumping jacks. (no exceptions)

13 Cell phones should be on silent during practice and kept in cubbies with belongings. Cheerleaders more than 10 minutes late will have 100 jumping jacks. (no exceptions) Cheer shoes MUST BE WORN AT PRACTICE! 100 jumping jacks will be given at start of practice and 3 full floor bear crawls will be given at the end of practice. (no exceptions) Parents are required to come inside the gym when picking up their children. No one is allowed behind the front desk. GALAXY STAFF ONLY! Cheerleaders should not be dropped any more than 10 minutes before practice. Tiny age cheerleaders must remain supervised by a parent until taken into the care of their coach. 14 GALAXY ALLSTARS PAYMENT AGREEMENT Tuition Payments I agree to pay my Monthly Tuition payment in the amount of $ I also agree to pay the $25.00 late fee charge for any payment not paid by the 1 5th of each month. If the bank does not honor my check, I agree to pay the $30.00 returned check fee. Should my account go into a negative balance for a period longer than 30 days I understand that it must be current before my child can return. All TUITION payments are payable to Galaxy Allstars and are non-refundable. Refund Policy/Early Termination Agreement Galaxy Allstars requires 60 day written notice if your child will be leaving our program. No refunds are given for registration, tuition, makeup, hair bows, uniforms, practice wear, choreography fees, competition payments, etc. for any reason. Galaxy Allstars also reserves the right to dismiss any parent/cheerleader for misconduct or violation of the participation or payment agreement which will also result in no refunds.
