That s 30 years of connecting St. Louisans to the arts be it through a class in one of our state-of-the-art studios, a contemporary art exhibit in our Millstone Gallery, a workshop in a St. Louis elementary school classroom, or powerful live performances. COCA Presents MADE POSSIBLE BY COCA CORE SPONSOR SERIES SPONSORS Mary Strauss The Mary Ranken Jordan and Ettie A. Jordan Charitable Foundation SEASON MEDIA SPONSOR HOTEL SPONSOR There is something magical about that moment the lights go down and you sit in the darkened theatre awaiting what s to come. I love that many of our youngest audience members experience that magical moment for the first time at COCA. For those early theatre-goers, this season we have Elephant and Piggie: We are in a Play based on the beloved Mo Willems books, an electric production of The Ugly Duckling, the COCA holiday tradition The Little Dancer, and we close with the classic tale Disney s Beauty and the Beast. In honor of our Anniversary, we will produce Uptown, a multidisciplinary journey depicting the rise of the Harlem Renaissance which will, for the first time ever, feature all five of our COCA dance, theatre and voice companies along with featured alumni on one stage. And dance fans will love Momentum, with its blend of the best we have to offer in hip-hop, modern and jazz dance. Please join us by subscribing to our 30th Anniversary season. I promise, you won t want to miss a moment. For more information, visit cocastl.org/cocaedu. In-School Residencies ALL AGES Professional Development Workshop WED, SEP 14, 2016 K 8 TEACHERS 4:30 7:00PM Learn how to engage students in lessons and dialogue about COCA s exhibit Outside In: Paint for Peace using visual art, observation and description. Participants will be guided through a step-by-step art project, which they can later replicate in their classrooms. Throughout the workshop, teachers will reflect on how to use these experiences as a point of integration with social studies and communication arts curricula. To register, contact Eileen Manganaro at or emanganaro@cocastl.org. In these 4- or 8-week residencies led by COCA teaching artists, students will design and create a large scale piece of art.
