Washington Street Tarrytown, NY March 2, 2018 Dear Dance Families: In less than a month, we move into the theatre for rehearsals and performances for the Rivertown Dance Academy Festival! This packet is full of important information about rehearsals and shows. Please read it fully and carefully! The Rivertown Dance Academy Festival is a 3-day series of performances where all dancers perform in all 3 performances! The Festival showcases the accomplishments of our students, from the young children in Elementary Dance through the advanced teen and adult students in ballet, jazz, modern dance, theatre jazz, tap, and hip hop highlighting the growth of the dancers during the year and providing them with the opportunity to showcase their deepening skills! As part of the agreement to participate in the Rivertown Dance Academy Festival, all dancers must attend all rehearsals and every performance. Please be aware that all outstanding RDAF payments must be paid by Saturday, March 17th. Lack of payment may result in student termination from the Festival. 2 RIVERTOWN DANCE ACADEMY FESTIVAL 2018 INFORMATION PACKET 2 All rehearsals the week of March will be held at the Masters School. RDA is not responsible for students before and after stage and technical rehearsal times Monday - Wednesday. Students performing only in the first act will be not be released until intermission Thursday Sunday. Attached you will find: 1. Overview of Theatre Week pg Theatre Week Rehearsal Schedule (Mon Wed) pg. 4,5 Beginning Monday, March 19 each class/piece will rehearse each day at the Masters School. Please check the schedule CAREFULLY for your rehearsal time/s, as they may be different each day. These short, daily rehearsals will help dancers become accustomed to the theatre; the stage, backstage/dressing room etiquette, the use of stage lighting and sound, and the professional stage manager and crew. 3. Dress Rehearsal & Performance Schedule (Thu Sun) pg. 6 Thursday there is a faculty-led warm up class prior to a full dress rehearsal. Friday, Saturday & Sunday there are faculty-led warmup classes prior to each performance. 4. Show Order (Fri Sun) pg. 7 Every piece is in each show, remember dancers must participate in all three shows. 3 RIVERTOWN DANCE ACADEMY FESTIVAL 2018 INFORMATION PACKET 3 OVERVIEW OF WEEK This week is essential for dancers to become familiarized with the stage backstage/dressing areas and to practice performance etiquette. Monday and Tuesday will be Staging Rehearsals; dancers may arrive in dance attire. Wednesday costumes will be distributed and dancers should arrive with proper tights, shoes and undergarments for each piece. Additional information regarding tights, shoes, and other accessories necessary for each class will be distributed prior to theatre week. Thursday is a full dress rehearsal with costumes, hair and make-up. Photos will be taken. Friday, Saturday & Sunday are the performances. Students performing in only the first act are welcome to join the audience for the second act. Dancers must arrive 20 minutes before their rehearsal time, ready to dance in dancewear and dance shoes for these rehearsals.
