Climb the World s 3 rd highest mountain Coordinates: N E, located in the Himalayas (International border between Nepal and India) Activity: Mountaineering expedition Grade: 5 mountains ( ) needs high level of physical fitness & climbing experience at least above 7000m First Ascent: George Band, UK, John Kempe, UK and Joe Brown, UK on 25 th May 1955 Our own first climbing of the mountain: 1982, Italian Team Listing: Eight-thousander, word s 3 rd highest mountain Starting from: Suketar, Taplejung Ending at: Suketar, Taplejung Duration: 56 days (Spring-1 April-27 May, Autumn: 10 September-3 November) Kangchenjunga is located on the Sikkim (India)-Nepal border as part of the Himalayan mountain range. Climbers had tried to explore the souther portals of Kangchenjunga even before Everest was discovered in 1852 to be the highest mountain in the world. The first foreigner to explore this region was Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker. Many climbers such as William Douglas Freshfield in 1999, the Swiss team-jacob Guillarmod, Reymond etc, Paul Bauer in 1929 & 1931, Prof. Dyhrenfurth, in 1930, John Hunt in 1937, and finally Joe Brown, George Band and John Kempe reached to the summit on 25 th May 1955 by the Northwest Face route followed by Norman Hardie and Tony Streather the next day. Our expedition will be climbing Kangchenjunga from the Nepal side of the mountain setting up as many as VI camps above base camp for the summit push. Our company director Natemba Sherpa climbed Mt. Kangchenjunga (8,586m/28,170 ft.) twice in 1982 and 1989, so having ourselves well knowledgeable about the mountain and the exact logistics involved make the expedition a success in the best possible way you can book this expedition with us in full confidence. Any extra service not mentioned herein cost inclusion. We also provide upto Base Camp Services; please write us your detailed requirements. PAYMENTS An advance of 25% of the total cost is required when booking expedition, to be paid at least three month before departure. The balance must reach us at least two months prior to trip date to confirm a place/s. It can also be paid in Kathmandu before trekking or trip departure on mutual agreement on special condition. We do accept last minute bookings if places are open for any departure (up to three weeks before trip date) in a first come, first served basis. A group / individual participant must arrive Kathmandu at least three days in advance (5 days for Tibet Trips) in order to process your expedition or Tibet permits. Cancellation policy In event of cancellation of your expedition the following charges will be made: -More than 7 weeks before departure - Deposit amount -6 weeks before departure date - 25% of total cost -4 weeks before departure date - 50% of total cost -Less than 3 weeks before departure date - No Refund. Steristrips 6 mm wide INSTRUMENTS Tweezers, scissors, sewing needle, safety pins, latex gloves IMMUNISATION At least six weeks before the departure you will need to consult your doctor to work out an immunization schedules relevant to the Himalayas. You should normally be immunized against Tetanus, Polio, Hepatitis A, Cholera, though you must also contact your doctor for necessary immunization details. Vaccinations against the following diseases may be useful, although they might be difficult or expensive to obtain. Your doctor will let you know if they are appropriate: -Rabies. -Meningitis. -Japanese Encephalitis. DENTAL CHECKS It is most important that you have a through dental examination before the expedition and have any necessary treatment carried out. Dental treatment on the mountain is likely to be drastic and traumatic Insurance All climbing members as well as support staffs must be insured before commencing on an Expedition. It is advised that you buy the Insurance Policy right from the home Country through a reliable Insurance company covering medical, accidental and rescue evacuation. Please ensure with your insurance company whether they really cover the
