3 1 TECHNICAL INFORMATION DOCUMENTS IN EFFECT 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships WAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES All Coaches are reminded that the following documents are in effect for the Championships. FIG WAG CoP (June 2015) FIG WAG Help Desk (Edition 5) April 2015 FIG Newsletter 34, 35, 36, 37 and 38 Canadian High Performance Program August 2015 Canadian List of New Elements Jan 2016 REGULATIONS FOR CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS Refer to Section 5 of the WPM that is on the GCG website TEAM WARM UPS In team competitions, teams will warm up as a group. When a Competition Group is composed of Team and individual athletes, the warm up groups is split as follows: Team + 1 individual: all warm up together. When a Group is composed of a Team + 2 or more individuals: the team warms up and competes first; the individual athletes always warm up as a second sub group. CHALK MARKS AT VAULT: Chalk marks will not be permitted at vault. Athletic tape and/or Velcro strips only may be placed on the runway and for round off entry vaults only they may be placed across the width of the vault runway. Coaches are to remove marks at the end of the rotation. VERIFICATION OF RESULTS: Coaches have up to 5 minutes after the publication of the draft results to verify them and communicate any error to the Canadian Head Judge (or designate) or the Program Director AG. Training in the training gym is available to all gymnasts throughout the week according to the following schedule: Wednesday Open from 10:30 in 1.hr blocks Thursday: Open from 11:00 12:30 Open from 14:00 in 1 hr blocks Friday: Open from 11:00 12:30 Open from 14:00 in 1 hr blocks Procedures: Reservations are made by provincial associations only. A reservation must be submitted to David Holmes the Championships Technical Manager david.holmes@stampedecitygym.com by no later than 20:00 the day before or at least 5 hours before the desired time on the same day. The OC will review the training requests and will circulate the response no later than 21:00 the day before in the Chefs mailboxes. An open training format may be used for any session if there are very few athletes in the gym and all the provinces who have a confirmation are in agreement. COMPETITION DRAW The teams were drawn as per the WAG Program Manual, Section 5. The athletes on a team always compete before individual athletes. See Section 1 for Team Warm ups. Subdivision 2 athletes must report to the Training Gym by 9:30. Warm up will begin when the Competition Head Judge estimates there is 25 min remaining to the Subdivision 1 competition (approximately at the start of the final rotation) and so may begin earlier or later than stated. At the conclusion of Subdivision 1, the Subdivision 2 athletes will be marched in to compete on their first apparatus. Page 6

The order of passage within a team and/or a P/T group (individuals competing in a team format) is the responsibility of each P/T. The order must be submitted to the Competition Director on FORM WAG A no later than the stated deadline for that category, otherwise the Competition Director will determine the order. Substitution: A substitution of Team athlete and an Independent athlete may be performed under the following conditions. If the team athlete and the individual athlete are in different flights the substitution may occur up to the beginning of the general warm up of the first flight for reasons of illness or injury verified by a medical certificate. A gymnast may not warm up or compete in two flights. The individual athlete and the team athlete who are switched also switch competition order. If the team athlete and the individual athlete are in the same flight, substitution of an individual athlete with a team athlete may occur up to 30 minutes before the beginning of the competition for reasons of illness or injury verified by a medical certificate. The team athlete will be scratched from the competition. 10 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships WAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES The order of passage within a team and/or a P/T group (individuals competing in a team format) is the responsibility of each P/T. The order must be submitted to the Competition Director on FORM WAG A no later than the stated deadline for that category, otherwise the Competition Director will determine the order. Substitution: A substitution of Team athlete and an Independent athlete may be performed under the following conditions. If the team athlete and the individual athlete are in different flights the substitution may occur up to the beginning of the general warm up of the first flight for reasons of illness or injury verified by a medical certificate. A gymnast may not warm up or compete in two flights. The individual athlete and the team athlete who are switched also switch competition order. If the team athlete and the individual athlete are in the same flight, substitution of an individual athlete with a team athlete may occur up to 30 minutes before the beginning of the competition for reasons of illness or injury verified by a medical certificate. 13 QUALIFICATION FOR FINALS 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships WAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES JO 9 AND 10 ALL AROUND AND APPARATUS FINALS As per Section 5 of the WAG Regulations, there will be 36 athletes qualified to the All Around and Apparatus finals in the JO 9, JO 10 (12 15) and JO 10 (16+) categories as follows: Participation eligibility criteria for all age groups in the JO 9 and JO 10 All Around and Apparatus Finals will be as follows based on the results from Day 1: A maximum of 36 athletes as follows: - the 2 highest ranked athletes per P/T with a team; - the highest ranked athlete per P/T without a team provided that she has obtained at least one score higher than zero during the Team Final; - the next top ranked All Around athletes from the Team Final up to 36; Any athlete in their respective age group who ranked in the top 8 absolute on an apparatus after the Team Final, on that apparatus only. If there is more than one additional athlete on the same apparatus, the lower ranked athlete will compete on her apparatus with the second strongest All Around group. This additional athlete will compete last in the group. f) Two reserve gymnasts will be identified per sub category. The first reserve gymnast will warm up with the group of athletes starting the competition on Floor. The second reserve gymnast will warm up with the group of athletes starting the competitions on Beam. NOVICE ALL AROUND FINAL AND APPARATUS For Day 2, there is a seeded draw based on the rankings of Day 1. The draw below will determine the order of passage within a group of Novices for the first apparatus. In addition, any athlete who is ranked in the top 8 on an apparatus, but not ranked in the top 16 AA will enter the competition in Group 1 of their respective category for the event upon which they have qualified. The apparatus qualifier will always be the first to compete on that rotation. An athlete who qualifies for the All Around Final is expected to compete on a minimum of three apparatus or scratch from the Final. 22 TECHNICAL INFORMATION 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships MAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES Warm Ups: General warm up will follow the open format with 1.5 hours for all categories. During competition, timed warm ups for all categories will be strictly enforced. As per FIG Code of Points every gymnast is entitled to a one touch on the apparatus before competing: 30 seconds on all apparatus except Parallel Bars 50 seconds on Parallel Bars including bar preparation Physical Abilities Testing: Gymnasts in the Novice and Junior categories will be evaluated on their Physical Abilities using Flexibility B, Ring Strength B and Parallel Bar Strength B routines during the training sessions at Canadian Championships. These evaluations are factored into the All Around result for both categories. Gymnasts are required to be in competitive attire (Singlets and shorts) during the Physical Abilities evaluations. Evaluations are performed by the National Team Director and the Junior and Age Group National Coach. Junior Apparatus Finals a) The top 6 athletes on each apparatus will compete in event finals on Day 2; b) The FIG regulation for Vault Finals will not apply. Gymnasts compete one vault only. c) Athletes tied for final competing positions will all be allowed to compete in finals. Page 9

29 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships MAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES d) The scores from the finals competition will determine the individual apparatus winners (scores will not be carried forward from qualification). e) For all Apparatus the order of passage for Junior Men s Apparatus Finals will be seeded based upon their rank from the qualification: Qual Rank Comp Order f) In the event that there are more than 6 competitors in the finals, the NTD and PD will determine a random draw for that apparatus. Senior Apparatus Final (Up to 8 athletes) a) The Top 6 athletes by Day 1 scores that also meet the minimum D score of 5.4 on each apparatus (5.2 on Vault) will compete on day 2 b) An additional two athletes will be added to each Apparatus Final if they are awarded a D score on Day 1 as listed in the chart below, but failed to place in the Top 6 by score. FX PH R V PB HB c) If more than 2 meet the D score criteria, the athletes with the highest D score will move to Finals. If there are two athletes with the same D score, the apparatus ranking by highest final score will be used. d) The FIG regulation for Vault Finals will not apply. A gymnast only needs to compete one vault on Day 1 to qualify for finals. Only one vault will be competed in finals. e) If more than 6 athletes qualify for an apparatus final, no reserve will be named for finals. f) If only 6 athletes qualify for finals no finalists named for b a reserve who meets the minimum D score as per a will be named. The reserve may warm up and may be eligible to compete up until the end of the specific apparatus warm up. g) If a foreign athlete qualifies to apparatus finals as per 4.8.7, they will be seeded to compete in the first position on that apparatus h) The scores from the Finals competition will determine the individual event winners (scores will not be carried forward from qualification). i) Senior Apparatus finals will be seeded following the Day 1 competition based on their day 1 rank and entry by high D score as follows: Rank from day 1 Order for Finals Highest D score nd highest D score 8 Page 10

30 2016 Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships MAG DRAWS AND SCHEDULES EQUIPMENT i. The chart below describes the specific equipment requirements for each category within the Elite Pathway. ii. Unless noted in the chart of apparatus requirements, the use of additional crash mats will result in a 0.5 deduction from the Final Score on that apparatus. A similar deduction will be applied for use of any nonpermitted supplementary equipment. iii. For Novice, Supplementary mats (5cm) are permitted for use on all apparatus except Pommel Horse. One 5 or 10cm mat can be used for Optional Floor routines. A 10 cm Supplementary mat is mandatory as a minimum on Vault and Horizontal Bar (FIG Rule). iv. Open athletes will follow FIG mat regulations with the exception of one 5cm or 10cm landing mat on the Floor and Rings. v. Junior and Senior athletes will follow FIG mat regulations with the exception of one 5cm or 10cm landing mat on the Floor and Rings. When an event is being used for selection to World Championships or Major Games, FIG mat restrictions will be enforced. Floor Novice FIG 12m x 12m Up to one (1) 5cm or 10cm mat is permitted, it may be removed after use. Pommel Horse Rings Vault Horse with pommels. Horse may be lowered to any height In the case where the horse can t be lowered, a beat board may be used FIG Standard (260 cm) Up to 20 cm of additional mat may be used. 125 to135cm An additional 10 cm mat may be used.
