3 1 Technical Information 2018 Elite Canada - Artistic Gymnastics Warm Ups: General warm up will follow the open format with 1.5 hours for all categories. During competition, timed warm ups for all categories will be strictly enforced. As per FIG Code of Points every gymnast is entitled to a one touch on the apparatus before competing: - 30 seconds on all apparatus except Parallel Bars - 50 seconds on Parallel Bars including bar preparation Documents in Effect: All MAG Coaches are reminded that the following documents are in effect for the Championships. FIG Code of Points January 2018 FIG Newsletter Canadian Elite Pathways Program Nov Final 2 Meetings Technical Meeting Thursday February 1, 18:30 For all coaches to attend. Judges Meeting Regarding World Championships Friday, February 2, 12:00 13:00 For all judges to attend National Team Meeting Saturday February 3, 19:00 19:30 All Junior and Senior team gymnast are to attend if at EC. To be discussed is the plan for both teams for the next 6 months, National Team programs and services and uniforms. MAG Program Consultation Meeting Saturday, February 3, 11:00 12:30 Open to all MAG coaches and judges. Mandatory for all NT coaches. The high-performance plan for the upcoming year will be presented. Selection Committee Meetings Friday, February 2, 20:30 & Saturday, February 3, 19:30 Selection Committee will meet to discuss selection of athletes and coaches to upcoming International assignments 3 Training schedules for Thursday, February 1 st Junior and Senior Training 08:30 10:00 The first training session is an open training for any Junior and Senior athlete. The MAG and WAG floor may be used for general stretch from 08:30 to 08:45. Junior Training 10:00 12:30 & 13:00 15:30 There will be two Junior category training sessions in the Competition Gym arranged by Club. Eastern clubs (ON, QC, NB, NL, PE, NS) will be seeded to the first session. Western clubs (BC, AB, SK, MB) will be seeded into the second session. Gymnasts are allowed a 30 minute general warm up on the floor after which time the floor may be used for specific training. Clothing regulations must be adhered to.
4 Senior Training 15:30 18:00 There will be a Senior category training session in the Competition Gym. Gymnasts are allowed a 30 minute general warm up on the floor after which time the floor may be used for specific training. Clothing regulations must be adhered to. It is recommended that judges attend training. However, the Elite Canada Senior training will not be run as a formal podium training. Physical Abilities Testing: Gymnasts in the Junior category will be evaluated on their Physical Abilities using Flexibility B, Ring Strength B and Parallel Bar Strength B routines during the training sessions at Elite Canada. These evaluations are factored into the All Around result for both categories. Gymnasts are required to be in competitive attire (singlets and shorts) during the Physical Abilities evaluations. Evaluations are performed by the National Team Director and designated judges. Testing will take place in the following order: a) Ring Strength: maximum score of 19 points b) P Bar Strength: maximum score of 11 points c) Flexibility: maximum score of 20 points Gymnasts are to report to the NTD and judges as a Club as they are ready, with no order for the clubs to follow. COMPETITION ROTATION ROTATION FLOOR POMMEL RINGS VAULT P BARS H BAR 1 A B C D E F 2 F A B C D E 3 E F A B C D 4 D E F A B C 5 C D E F A B 6 B C D E F A DRAWS FOR FINALS - From the MAG Technical Regulations Junior Apparatus Finals (Up to 6 athletes) Starting on Pommel Horse a) The top 6 athletes on each apparatus will compete in event finals on Day 2; b) The FIG regulation for Vault Finals will not apply. Gymnasts compete one vault only. c) Athletes tied for final competing positions will all be allowed to compete in finals. d) The scores from the finals competition will determine the individual apparatus winners (scores will not be carried forward from qualification). e) For all Apparatus the order of passage for Junior Men s Apparatus Finals will be seeded based upon their rank from the qualification: Qual Rank Comp Order f) In the event that there are more than 6 competitors in the finals, the NTD and PM will determine a random draw for that apparatus. Senior Apparatus Final (Up to 8 athletes) Starting on Floor a) The Top 6 athletes by Day 1 scores that also meet the minimum D score of 4.8 on each apparatus (4.8 Average on Vault) will compete on Day 2 b) The FIG regulation for Vault Finals will apply. Gymnasts compete two vaults to qualify to Finals, and will compete two vaults in Finals. Athletes must meet the minimum average SV of 4.8 for both vaults to qualify for Finals. c) An additional two athletes will be added to each Apparatus Final if they are awarded a D score on Day 1 as listed in the chart below, but failed to place in the Top 6 by score.
7 FX PH R V PB HB (avg) d) If more than two meet the D score criteria, the athlete with the highest D score will move to Finals. If there are two athletes with the same D score, the apparatus ranking by highest final score will be used. e) Non-Canadian gymnasts will only be eligible for participation in Apparatus Finals if they have placed within the Top 3 on Day 1. If a foreign athlete qualifies to apparatus finals as per (Tech Regs), they will be seeded to compete in the first position on that apparatus f) The scores from the Finals competition will determine the individual event winners (scores will not be carried forward from qualification). g) Senior Apparatus finals will be seeded following the Day 1 competition based on their Day 1 rank and entry by high D score as follows: Rank from day 1 Order for Finals Highest D score nd highest D score 8 Awards Medals are to be awarded to: the top three (3) all around individuals in all categories. the top three (3) gymnasts in each event for all categories. In the case of a tie the competitors are awarded the same medal. Determining an All-Around Winner: Junior For Junior, the gymnast obtaining the highest number of points from participation in all three Physical Tests (3) and all six (6) events on Day 1 will be declared the All-Around champion. Senior For Senior, the gymnast obtaining the highest number of points from participation in all six (6) events on Day 1 will be declared the All-Around Champion. Declaration of an Individual Apparatus Winner: Senior: Determined by Apparatus Finals only Junior: Determined by Apparatus Finals only The All-Around Champion in each category will be awarded with an Elite Canada Trophy.
