2 COLD STORAGE HOLDINGS OF FISH - OCTOBER 1, 1952 ALL FISH Stocks of all frozen flab in Canada amounted to 65,610,000 lb. on October 1, 1952, of which 62,057,000 lb. were frozen fr..b and 3,553,000 lb. frozen smoked. In these figures estimates of 1,785,000 lb. frozen fresh and lb, frozen smoked are included for firms tailing to report on time. These holdingi are higher by 5,732,000 lb, frozen fresh and lower by lb. frozen smoked than those at September 1, Compared with October 1, 1951 figures, they are higher by 11,389,000 lb. frozen fresh and higher by lb. frozen smoked. There was an "into-storage" movement for all classifications of 5.5 million pounds as compared with similar movement of 1.9 million pounds during September, A FISH - COD Stocks of frozen Cod, not including estimates for late firms, were 11,933,000 lb., consisting of 10,132,000 lb. frozen fresh and 1,801,000 lbo frozen smoked. The appelrent net decrease during September was 619 thousand pounds as compared with a similar movement of 1.3 million pounds during September, The quantity reported as having been frozen during September was 4,335,000 lb., but no estimate is made for firms failing to report on time. HADDOCK Stocks of frozen Haddock, not including estimates for late firms, totalled 1,886,000 lb, of which 1,599,000 lb. were frozen fresh and 287,000 lb. frozen smoked. Haddock holdings were 117,000 lb. lower than the stocks on hand last year and 221,000 lb. lower than last month. There were 313,000 lb. reported as having been frozen during September, SAU)N. Frozen Salmon Btocks at October 1, were 10,169,000 lb. without estiinuting for late firms, as compared with 10,837,000 lb, last year and 9,085,000 lb. last month. The apparent net increase during September was 1.1 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 3.3 million pounds dmring the same month of Preezinga during September were 2,816,000 lb. SEA HuNG Frozen stocks of herring, including kippers were reported as being 9,756, 000 lb. of which 8,539,000 lb. were fresh and 1,217,000 lb. smoked. Last year at the same date the combined figures was 7,128,000 lb. This month's figures show an increase of 853,000 pounds over last month's total. The quantity frozen during September was 1,722,000 lb. OTHER SEA FISH Other frozen stocks amou.nted to k3,067,000 lb. being reported as frozen fresh 22,964,000 lb., and frozen smoked 103,000 lb. All other sea fish reported as having been frozen during Septecaber totalled 5,306,000 lb. INLAND FISH There were on hand 6,929,000 lb. of inland fish frozen fresh. There were 926,000 lb. of inland fish frozen during the month of September,
