2 The Training and Development programme run by the Dublin Coaching and Games Committee will once again commence in September. This programme is now in its third year and continues to go from strength to strength. In an effort to keep pace with the most recent and innovative training methods, this year we have a number of new coaching workshops to supplement the already extensive variety of courses that were available last year. Some of these additional courses include pre-season training for adults, adopting fun games for football and introducing parents to hurling. There will also be a number of workshops that will cater specifically for coaches of adult teams and coaches of juvenile teams. As well as these additional workshops, a full day s football coaching seminar will take place in December. This seminar will target adult club coaches throughout the county. A nursery booklet has also been drafted and will act as a resource for coaches who are based in the Nursery Programme. It contains information on areas such as appropriate content, structure and volunteer recruitment specifically in relation to the Nursery Programme. Another component of the training programme that was introduced last year was the strength and conditioning course run in conjunction with Dublin City University and overseen by Professor Niall Moyna. This programme will be run again this year, commencing in October 07 and concluding in March 08, and will be geared towards juvenile coaches. This year however, the course will be linked with a selection of practical health and well being workshops such as developing core stability and strength training for footballers. Attendance at these workshops will be a mandatory requirement of the course. A further element of the programme that proved to be very successful last year was the GO GAMES referees courses. This fact was highlighted by the large attendances and positive feedback received from the participants and will be run again in November 07. The database that was established last year will continue to act as a means of registering for coaching courses and workshops and contains information regarding course applications and accreditation for every person who attends a course. To reserve a place on a course simply register online by logging onto 2 Improving our Games through Training and Development

3 An overhaul of the Coach Education structure has been undertaken by an expert group this year. The traditional coaching structure containing four levels has now been replaced by a three strand model illustrated below.
