PRESIDENTS WELCOME The footy season is about to start again for I would like to welcome all Players, Parents, Coaches, Managers, Referees, Trainers and all others involved in the club whether new or old, to Eastern Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club (Junior Division). For season 2018 we will continue with our field maintenance, we have installed new sprinklers and will be fertilising for the second time just before the start of the season. There are Grant Applications in place for our Club Facilities, however this is a work in progress. We have also had some trees removed and new turf laid in the ongoing maintenance of club grounds. The club will again be running Coaches Development sessions for all coaches which will be held at the club in February and will coordinated by our new Coaching Director Kim Bray and Steve Peoples, Easts Development Officer in attendance. With such great success with our fundraising raffle last year we will once again be organising a major raffle for all club members to support with a possible prize being of a trip for two to the 2018 NRL Grand Final in Sydney. For the 2018 season, our playing jersey will be the same as last year with our major sponsor MINELAB Electronics Pty Ltd on the front of the jersey. The jersey will also carry the name of the clubs other major sponsors EAST LEAGUES. MELBOURNE STORM logo will also be displayed on the jersey. We would also like to thank Stones Corner Eyewear, Yatala Pie Shop, Joe Kelly MP, APAK Wholesalers, Brygen Pest Control along with new sponsors Urban Group and AH&E Plumbing Estimating Contract Administration Hydraulic Design. The club is proud of its involvement with all our sponsors, without their continuing support we would not be able to maintain and continue the development of our club, it is encouraged that members of the club support our sponsors by using their services. At this time I would like to introduce the new Executive, Management and General Committee Members for 2018 to you, Andrew Garofalo (Vice President), Kerry Rushton (Secretary), Karen Butler (Assistant Secretary), Carlie Thislewaite (Treasurer), Deslyn Marment (Assistant Treasurer), Debra Phillips (Registrar), Kim Bray (Coaching Director), Kym Rachow (Referee Coordinator), Karina Bray (Media Liaison Officer), Damian Pratt (Property Officer), Greg Macdonald (First Aid), Keith Phillips (Committee Member). On behalf of the new committee members I would like to thank the 2017 Committee Members for their contributions and time given to the club during the season. To have a successful season the club relies on support and assistance from many volunteers it is crucial for the day to day running of the club as well as special events both on and off the field, volunteers are the lifeblood of our club and every sporting organisation so please get involved. Also the Website and Facebook page will be updated weekly with all news, game times, results and fixtures. All you have to do is visit Easts Juniors Facebook and 'Like' the page. Once again, I would like to welcome you all on behalf of the committee and myself and hope you enjoy the upcoming season. Jody Edwards President

5 4. PLAYING EQUIPMENT Club Polo Shirt All players will be required to wear their Club Polo Shirt to and from games and to any official team or Club Event. Our Club values Pride in Appearance. Arriving at Gamers/Events in uniform is compulsory. Club Polos should be worn with Club Shorts, boots and socks Training Shirt All players will be supplied with a training shirt that must be worn at any team training session. Our Club Sponsors are displayed on these shirts and it is important the players wear these training at all times. Jersey All players will be supplied with a club jersey during the season. All jerseys remain the Property of the club until presented to the players on Trophy Day. Jerseys will be washed as a set each week as arranged by Team Managers. No player is to take their Jersey home at any time during the season. Boots All players are required to wear football boots, which can be purchased from sporting goods stores. Please remember boots are not permitted to be worn in the clubhouse at any time. Shorts and Socks Players are required to wear club shorts and socks when representing the club during competition games. Our Club values Pride in Appearance. We recommend that all players wear professionally fitted mouthguards. Shoulder Pads and Headgear are also recommended but are also optional. Tape Strapping and electrical tape is the player s responsibility to supply. This can be purchased from the club.

6 5. Wet Weather In the unlikely event a game is cancelled due to weather conditions, Rugby League Brisbane or host club will notify the Secretary if the game is to be cancelled. The Secretary will contact individual team Managers and Coaches who will then contact the players and/or their parents. Our website will be updated with current information at Like our Facebook Page Easts Juniors for updates 6.Fixtures and Ground Locations. Details of fixtures and ground locations for matches will be provided to you by your team manager prior to the game. A list of all clubs and ground locations can also be found on our web site or the Stingers (Junior League) websitewww.stingers.net.au 7. Player s Insurance. Junior Division, through its affiliation with Rugby League Brisbane provides a minimum level of cover. Insurance is not comprehensive so it is encouraged that players take out Private Health, Life and Income Protection Insurance according to their own individual needs and circumstances. It is the Individuals Responsibility to ensure that he/she has adequate Insurance Cover for his/her needs. UNREGISTERED PLAYERS ARE NOT COVERED. Should you require further information please an information brochure is available. Please request from Club Secretary.

7 8. Registration & Payment Refund Policy Policy Objective This policy provides a clear statement explaining the Club s position on the payment and refund of registration fees. Policy Statement - Payments It is the Club s policy that all players registration fees must be paid in full before the commencement of the Club s first official match (excludes pre-season trials). IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID, YOU WILL NOT PLAY Policy Statement Refunds All requests for refunds shall be put in writing to the committee. The committee will vote and the player/parents/guardian will be notified by mail as to the outcome. THE COMMITTEE S DECISION IS FINAL 9. Fundraising We are a not for profit organisation and our club relies on fundraising to operate. Apart from Player Registration, the Club asks for no other monetary payments from parents/guardians. It would be appreciated by the Management Committee if you could please support the Club by becoming involved in any fundraising events throughout the season. 10. Working with Children To ensure your child/children s safety, any person holding an Official Position with a Junior Team must hold a Blue Card issued by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General (Blue Card Services). When involved in a match day activity, the official must display this card. An Official position is deemed to be any of the following Members of the Management Committee, Coaching and Development Staff Team Managers League Safe, Sports Trainers, and Club Timekeepers Touch Judges and Referees Canteen and Bar staff Those persons who undertake a role on a temporary and infrequent basis (e.g. as a team official for home or away games) must hold a current blue card even if they have a child registered and playing in the team taking part on the day. The Blue Card must be kept on you at all times whilst at the Club on training nights, on match days and when on any other Club Activities where children are involved (e.g. Training camps).

8 11. Courses Available The club is keen to have its coaches, referees and medical staff up to date with the latest information Any courses on offer will be fully funded by the Club. Contact your team manager who will contact the Club Secretary if you wish to undertake a course. ANYONE ENTERING THE FIELD OF PLAY MUST BE LEAGUESAFE OR N.R.L. SPORTS TRAINER QUALIFIED. 12. 9 13. Important Note Everyone associated with and visiting our club or any Junior Rugby League Club or game MUST abide by the appropriate CODES OF CONDUCT. Copies of all relevant Codes of Conduct (for parents, players, etc) may be found on our club website. You can also visit the Stingers (Junior League) site, the QRL web site, and the NRL web site to read the codes. It is your responsibility to read and abide by these codes. Failure to do so could see penalties applied. IGNORANCE IS NO EXCUSE
