1 Newsletter # Season If not claimed, return to PO.Box 29 Napier. Field Weekend #2 Well a great weekend all around, although a little windy and it was rather fresh. The sea was good too, 24 casters got out and about with a total of 38 fish being caught. Two red cod were landed by Roy Frost with the heaviest of.610 going to Tareq Assa d. One SSH going to Tareq also. Thirty five Kahawai were caught, the heaviest going to Dion Jeffares with a 2.43kg fish, 2nd to James Frings with a 2.31kg and 3rd to Mark Ives 2.155kg. Pania Sheild Weekend. Ten Pania members fronted up at Tahaenui on Saturday October 10th to challenge Gisborne SC for possession of the Pania Shield. However, the conditions were not ideal for good fishing and only 3 weighable fish were caught between the two teams. The Gisborne side presented two Kahawai (divided by 6, the minimum number of fishos allowable under the rules). This gave Gisborne the win in the Pania Shield. Hamish Nichol caught Pania s only qualifying fish, a smoothhound, which weighed more than Gisborne s two kahawai but had to be divided by the number of Pania fishos (10 ). Sponsored prizes can be anything at all, and any value. It doesn't need to be fishing related, and it could also be vouchers for services or discounts on products. Also, like last year, all members are expected to contribute at least one prize from their own pockets. It doesn't need to be expensive, just go out and buy something to give away at prize giving. You don't even need to buy it, give away some made-up traces or rigs, a detailed map to your best fishing spots (ok well maybe not that) but you get the idea. Finally, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, please get contact details for your sponsors so that thank you letters can be sent out after the event.
