2 This is what you can look forward to: Monday 1 April: Departure day We fly out of South Africa on Singapore Airlines. Those flying from Cape Town depart mid-morning, while those flying from Johannesburg depart at lunch time. With a comfy plane, superb service, good food and a wide selection of entertainment, you re sure to have a pleasant flight onboard the World s Best Airline for Tuesday 2 April: After a short leg stretch in Singapore s Changi Airport (rated as the world s best airport), we catch our short connecting flight onboard Silk Air (our favourite short haul airline) to Kota Kinabalu on the island of Borneo. Once there, we take a short air-conditioned coach ride across town to our hotel. Our 4-star hotel is located on the northern side of the original town, providing quick and easy access to the waterfront, malls, the jetty for transfers to many islands, nature excursions, golf and more. We re sure to spend a few afternoons & evenings at the rooftop restaurant & pool (and gym for the energetic) enjoying the views. We ll head off for an oritentation walk mid afternoon to get you familiar with town, and finish at the marina for our sunset dinner cruise a perfect way to slip into island life and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. 3 Wednesday 3 April: Whether it be sleeping late, a lazy breakfast, shopping or enjoying the warm weather from the stunning rooftop pool, the morning is completely at leisure and ideal for shaking the jetlag. After lunch, we get together and head off on a guided tour of some of the city highlights finishing off at the Signal Hill Observatory Tour, a lookout point on the hill overlooking the city and coastline, for sunset. Thursday 4 April: The morning is again spent at leisure and we meet up at the hotel after lunch to depart for our afternoon & evening excursion and head to the rivers. Our outing takes us through charming villages and small quaint towns and includes a traditional tea stop, followed by a river cruise to see the remarkable Proboscis Monkeys. We then head for dry land for a local dinner, before heading back onto the river to witness a natural pyrotechnic show the fireflies from the comfort of our boat on the river. 4 Friday 5 April: Today we head north for our first round of golf, at the beautiful Nexus Golf Club. Nestled between the hilly jungle and the coastline, it s a great introduction to what the region is all about. The palm lined fairways are flat and open, but watch out for the water We ll be back mid-afternoon, perfect for drinks in the pool before heading down to the Waterfront for sundowners and dinner. Saturday 6 April: Today is spent completely at leisure and there s plenty for you to do today, be it cultural, shopping or active. If scuba diving, snorkeling or kayaking (or even just lazing on the beach) is your thing, why not head out to one of the many islands in Tunku Abdul National Park just off the coast. 5 For the super energetic, Mount Kinabalu poses a formidable challenge and you could leave early this morning for an overnight mountain adventure. With two different route options (one for the fit adventurer, the other better suited for the super fit adrenalin-seeking adventurer), be sure to chat to us about which option to choose. If you do wish to climb the mountain, booking way in advance is essential so please chat to us soon. Sunday 7 April: The Gaya Street Market opens early morning and runs til 1pm. It s just a short 5 minute walk from the hotel and is a great way to start your day, and most definitely worth a visit. While the street is busy during the week, the market is only open on a Sunday and has a variety of shopping bargains and great food. 6 If lazy evenings and sundowners on the beach is your thing, head to Tanjung Aru for what many regard as one of the top three sunsets in the world. There s a public beach for those looking for something a little less formal, while the famous bar at the end of the pier is ideal for those fancy cocktails. Monday 8 April: We re back on the course today and head north to Shangri-La s Dalit Bay Golf & Country Club which is bordered by two rivers, and you ll tee-off with stunning views of Mount Kinabalu in the background. Set within 400 acres tropical acres, the course was successfully designed to highlight Sabah s natural beauty as it curves through rivers, native rainforest and wetlands. 7 Tuesday 9 April: Our final round is at the multi-award wining Sutera Harbour Golf Club, on the south side of town next to the marina we left from for the sunset cruise. The 27-hole course lies between the shores of the South China Sea and overlooks several offshore islands while combine nature with clever routing, challenging fairways and greens, as well as strategically placed bunkers. We ll tee-off around noon with the aim to come in in time before sunset so that we can head across to the marina café for sundowners. An ideal way to start your last evening on holiday. Wednesday 10 April: We have most of the day at our disposal perfect for a last minute adventure, some shopping, or even an extra round of golf at one of the nearby courses. 8 After meeting back at the hotel late afternoon, we head to the airport and commence our homeward journey. A short layover at Singapore s Changi Airport, and then it s time for our flight back to South Africa. Tuesday 28 May: We land in Johannesburg early morning (Cape Town mid-morning), allowing those with onward connections to get home by lunch time. Only EFT payments are accepted (NO credit card payments). The price of the package is based on a minimum of 20 passengers and a reduction in this number may lead to a price adjustment for the tour package. Deposit and Payment: A deposit of R4500,00 PER PERSON is payable on booking and is not refundable unless in the case of the cancellation of the tour by the tour operators. You are therefore encouraged to take out travel insurance which includes a cancellation clause. A tour package statement will be ed to you approximately 2 months (60-70 days) prior to departure and the full package price is payable within 72 hours (3 days) of presentation. No cancellations can be accepted after 10 weeks (70 days) prior to departure, and the full relevant package price for the tour is payable if cancellations are received after this date. If the booking is made 10 weeks or less before departure date, the full contract price is to be paid at the time of booking and may be subject to late ticket issue fees from the airline. A late payment fee of R250 per person will be charged automatically on all accounts not settled by the stipulated date. By signing these Terms & Conditions, the passenger confirms he/she understands that the Land Arrangement portion of the package will be deductible from the travel allowance which forms part of their single discretionary allowance of R1-million per annum, as per Soith African Exchange Control rulings. Itinerary: The itinerary details are subject to airline timetable changes, as well as weather and technical influences. Handicaps: All golfers must be able to provide proof of handicap if required by golf clubs while on tour. We may apply the Nomads adjustment system if and when required. Passport, Visas & Health requirements: We provide basic advice to South African passport holders regarding visa requirements. Clients travelling on a passport of a different nationality should check with their embassy or consulate and must make sure they have all the necessary valid travel and health documents to comply with the requirements of the country they are visiting or travelling through. Clients are advised to travel on one passport for the duration of the tour to ensure compliance with the latest travel regulations. All passports must be valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled date of return home. Liabilities: The Golf Travel Company and/or their agents, in making arrangements for air and land services, act as agents only and on condition that they shall not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accidental delay or irregularity that may be occasioned by any defect in any vehicle or form of conveyance or mishap at any place of accommodation, or for any reason whatsoever. Travel Insurance: Passengers are advised to have travel insurance for injury, death, accident and medical expenses, enforced pre-tour cancellation and loss of luggage. Changes to bookings: In the event of a change being made to your flight arrangements, including post-tour extensions and breakaways, an additional fee will be charged by the operating airline. Please consult our office for this additional charge which varies by airline and destination. The Golf Travel Company shall not be liable for any claims of any nature whatsoever resulting from non-notification of the and/ or street address changes. Special requests and contact with hotels and airlines: The Golf Travel Company shall forward all special requests received to the relevant hotel and / or airline / golf club when requested, but cannot accept responsibility for non-delivery on the part of the supplier. Under no circumstances may the client make contact in any manner with hotels and airlines as this is expressly forbidden by hotels and airlines in the group booking contract. All requests must be routed via The Golf Travel Company for forwarding to the relevant party. Cancellations and Refunds: No refund can be made for visits, sightseeing, meals, transfers, accommodation, golf or other services included in the tour price which were not utilized. Should the client wish to cancel for whatever reason, The Golf Travel Company must be advised in writing under the signature of the customer. No air tickets will be issued until full and final payment is received and the airline s late ticket issue levy will apply in the event of late payment. Medical Certificate: A doctor s certificate confirming good health will be required for passengers 65 years and older. Golf cars: The Golf Travel Company will book golf cars when requested to do but cannot accept responsibility for availability or restrictions on use on the day due to inclement weather or club restrictions Bookings: The Golf Travel Company reserves the right to decline any booking, at the time it is made, without stating the reason for the nonacceptance of the bookings. Any deposit made for a declined booking will be refunded in full. Acceptance of terms & conditions: This signed booking form will be deemed to be acceptance of these Terms & Conditions.
