2 This is what you can look forward to in August in Cambodia» Saturday 4 August 2017: We assemble late morning at Johannesburg s OR Tambo International Airport for check-in at the Singapore Airlines counters, before boarding our 13:55 flight. For those wishing to fly from Cape Town, just add R1000 for the return add-on flights. Sunday 5 August 2017: Our flight lands around 6am in Singapore and we have a short layover just enough time to stretch our legs and have a quick browse at the great duty-free shopping in the world s best airport before boarding for our short flight to Siem Reap in Cambodia. Once in Siem Reap, we a short transfer in air-conditioned bus to our hotel the ever popular Royal Crown Hotel, which will be our home for the next 8 nights. This afternoon, after checking in and allowing time for a quick dip in one of the hotel pools or a power nap, we head off in a convoy of tuk-tuks for a short ride across town to the Angkor National Museum. Not only is this a great introduction to the town, but also ideal to give you a better understanding during the day outing to Angkor Wat. There are several halls, each taking you through a different stage in the history of Cambodia and the region. Once you re satisfied that you ve taken in as much as you can your evening is at leisure, and you re free to make your own way back once you ve taken a look around the museum. If you re looking for some close to the hotel, check out the Hard Rock Café (always popular with our groups) or head to Pub Street for a wide variety of restaurant options from pizza to snake! Monday 6 August 2017: Today we re up bright and early (but not too early) and head off on a full day, guided tour of the Angkor Wat complex. As the world s largest religious monument, the property stretches over 400 acres and is still the site of much excavation work as new discoveries are still being made. Originally constructed as a Hindu temple of god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12 th century. 3 Our guides will take us around some of the major points, and we will relocate via our air-conditioned vans twice to ensure you see the must see attractions in the complex. Tuesday 7 August 2017: Today is our first round of golf and we play at the impressive and immaculate Angkor Golf Resort. Since opening in 2008, this Faldo-designed masterpiece has claimed numerous awards, and you will see why when you play one of South East Asia s hidden gems! 4 CAMBODIA We know you will walk a lot at Angkor Wat, so buggies are included today as with all three rounds included in the package. The afternoon and evening are at leisure, so feel free to explore the town, restaurants and nightlife. Wednesday 8 August 2017: Today is your first day fully at leisure so we d totally understand if you wish to just put your feet up and relax in one of the hotel s pools. But there is so much to do, that we also don t expect to see you during the day. Either chat with us, or chat to the Activities Desk in the hotel foyer for some options and assistance with logistics. Thursday 9 August 2017: Today s golf takes us to Phokeethra Country Club. 5 Sweeping fairways and generous greens give the course a distinctive layout and feel. Natural lagoons and sand traps thread through the greens to challenge golfers of all abilities. The course provides a good mix of tricky par 3s, and individual par 4s and par 5s which require a combination of long drives and good direction control to score well. For those interested in attending the Phare Circus, we will arrange an optional excursion this evening for some entertainment of a different variety. Don t be put off by the name circus, there are no animals here! Don t forget to head to the hotel s roof top to enjoy a few cocktails or cold beers while enjoying the sunset. 6 Friday 10 August 2017: We return to the Angkor Golf Resort today, and you get to test your memory and perfect those lines that may not have been spot on during your first round. Saturday 11 August 2017: Today is completely at leisure, and we d recommend ticking off those outings you maybe haven t yet got round to. Check out the Landmine Museum, the Silk Farm, or Kulen Mountain & Beng Mealea a little further out of town. 7 Mid-afternoon we will gather at the hotel and board our bus to visit a local Artisans workshop before continuing to the river for a cruise amongst floating villages, local fishermen and a monastery on stilts. We watch sunset from the lake before heading back upriver, and returning to the hotel usually for a nightcap (or two) at the Hard Rock Café. Monday 13 August 2017: Whether it be sleeping late, doing some last minute shopping or going for that one last spa treatment, our last morning is fully at leisure. At lunch time we start loading the bus and head to the airport for our afternoon flight to Singapore. Our layover at Changi (voted the world s best airport) is just long enough to stretch our legs or do some duty-free shopping in the vast duty free selection and go explore the gardens and many activities dotted around the enormous airport. GENERAL INFORMATION AND TOUR CONDITIONS: Price: The price of the tour is subject to Standard Terms and Conditions, exchange rates and airfares and taxes at time of final payment. The price of the package is based on a minimum of 30 passengers and a reduction in this number may lead to a price adjustment for the tour package. Deposit and Payment: A deposit of R4 500,00 PER PERSON is payable on booking and is not refundable unless in the case of the cancellation of the tour by the tour operators. You are therefore encouraged to take out travel insurance which includes a cancellation clause. A final account will be ed to you 8 weeks prior to departure, or on a date shortly thereafter, and is payable within 96 hours (4 days) of presentation, No cancellations can be accepted after 8 weeks (56 days) prior to departure and the full relevant package price for the tour is payable if cancellations are received after this date. If the booking is made 8 weeks or less before said departure date, the full contract price is to be paid at the time of booking and may be subject to late ticket issue fees from the airline. A late payment fee of R250,00 pp will be charged on all accounts not settled by the stipulated date. Handicaps: All golfers will be required to provide a handicap certificate from their club. The NOMADS handicap system may be applied. Passport, Visas & Health requirements: We provide basic advice to South African passport holders regarding visa requirements. Clients travelling on a passport of a different nationality should check with their embassy or consulate and must make sure they have all the necessary valid travel and health documents to comply with the requirements of the country they are visiting or travelling through. Liabilities: The Golf Travel Company and/or their agents, in making arrangements for air and land services, act as agents only and on condition that they shall not be liable for any injury, death, damage, loss, accidental delay or irregularity that may be occasioned by any defect in any vehicle or form of conveyance or mishap at any place of accommodation, or for any reason whatsoever. Insurance: Passengers are advised to have travel insurance for injury, death, accident and medical expenses, enforced pre-tour cancellation and loss of luggage. Changes to bookings: In the event of a change being made to your flight arrangements, including post-tour extensions and breakaways, an additional fee will be charged by the operating airline. Please consult our office for this additional charge which varies by airline and destination. Cancellations and Refunds: No refund can be made for visits, sightseeing, meals, transfers, accommodation, golf or other services included in the tour price which were not utilized. Should the client wish to cancel for whatever reason, The Golf Travel Company must be advised in writing under the signature of the customer. No air tickets will be issued until full and final payment is received and the airline s late ticket issue levy will apply in the event of late payment. Medical Certificate: A doctor s certificate confirming good health will be required for passengers 65 years and older. Golf cars: The Golf Travel Company will book golf cars when requested to do so by clients but cannot accept responsibility for availability on the day.
