2 Board Meeting Minutes March 6, 2012 Old Business: Pistol Range: Need signage on range and in club to show when range is closed to open shooting due to special shoots or classes. We desperately need Range Safety Officers (RSO) to work the Rifle and Pistol Ranges when Trap & Skeet is open. One RSO cannot cover the whole area. Sound System: The current sound system is not the correct type needed and bids will be accepted for a new system. Rental Agreement: The language in the agreement to rent the club needs to be updated to clarify what is expected of all parties in the agreement. Mark Wotruba will revise and present to the board for approval. Website: Don Simpson and other club members have been working on a new website for club info to be shared with the general public. He s seeking input from members of items that should be included. We may want to switch servers to the one Don uses for $7/ month locked for 5 years. This will also make it easier for Don to update data to the site. Calendar Raffle: The annual calendar raffle is an easy way to raise funds and keep Membership rates low. We have a total of 700 calendars for sale at $20 each. If all 700 are sold we make $8000 profit. The minimum sales needed to hold the raffle is 375 calendars, which generate $1500 in profit. We would like every member to sell 2 calendars instead of members selling 400, which is the usual amount sold. Until a new solution for increasing sales or a replacement raffle is created Please advise of any ideas by the Annual Meeting on April 10, Jeff Prescott made a motion to discontinue the Calendar Raffle. Seconded by Don Simpson and motion passed. Board Member openings: There will be 3 Board Member positions open for election at the Annual Meeting Tuesday April 10, New Business: Handicapped Chair: Member Steve McDonald made a presentation for a Action Trackchair handicapped chair to aid physically impaired people use the club grounds for shooting/hunting, and also for off club property for hunting. Steve will take the lead in fund raising $10,000 to purchase the chair and storage trailer. The club would store and maintain the chair and schedule its use. Randy made a motion to donate $1000 to the chair. Seconded by Mike, motion passed. Mike made a motion that the club be the owner of the chair and manages its use. Seconded by Don, motion passed. Trap/Skeet Machines: Jeff located 2 machines for $4295 vs. new cost of $8000 each. Mike made a motion to purchase 2 re built trap/skeet machines from an Alabama range that closed. Seconded by Don, motion passed. Hardwood Floor: Steve Green offered to refinish the hardwood floor in the upstairs of the club for his work ours. Craig made a motion to accept Steve s offer to do the floor for work hours vs. $1600 in actual cost. Seconded by Mike, motion passed. Club Audit: The club audit is completed and needs to be reviewed for action on it. The flag is the embodiment, not of sentiment, but of history.
3 2012 Annual Gun Club Banquet There are still 30 tickets left for the banquet on April 13th. More desserts are welcome. In addition there will be an opportunity this year to help with set up for the banquet. This will occur during the evening (6-10 pm) of Thursday, April 12. Contact Mike Craven if you are interested in volunteering and gaining work hours toward your 2013 membership renewal. Shotgun Trap and Skeet Summer Leagues Shooting in our traditional leagues starts April 15th and ends 16 weeks later on August 2nd. The first three weeks of shooting is the time team rosters are set, fees paid ($75 trap or $60 skeet), the first 75 birds can be shot anytime, handicaps are established and teams are placed in divisions that matches teams of like ability. Team sign up sheet are available at the club. Get your team organized. If you would like to shoot and are looking for a team to join, put your name and phone # on the easel in the clubhouse. Both 16 and 25-yard handicap trap opportunities are available. We are encouraging you to form a 25-yard trap handicap team if you are looking for a new challenge. Trap teams can have five to seven adult shooters and skeet teams can have four to five adult shooters. An additional shooter can be added to your roster if one person is 17 or less on April 15. Remember you can shoot ahead at any time during the 16 weeks. If you have a situation where you cannot shoot for a week due to health reasons or an emergency, contact the league secretary. For more details call Dave Orf or Bob Snegosky All Inclusive WI/MN/UT/FL Carry Class $ Bob Amey will be holding a Carry Classes on 3/31/2012, 4/21/2012 and 5/12/2012. Each class provides ALL of the training needed for permits from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Utah and Florida for a $ training fee and you re all done in one day. You may register (and pay if you like) online at: or or call Bob at any evening or at bobamey@aol.com for registration materials and information. The MN Stand Your Ground / Castle Doctrine bill, House File 1467 was vetoed by Governor Dayton on 3/5/2012 so the WI permit will continue to be invalid for carry in MN. Utah is dropping the fee on their five year non-resident permit to $51.25 effective 4/1/2012 and that permit is valid in MN. Utah continues to be a good choice for WI residents as it offers reciprocity with 33 states and is low cost. If you don't learn from your mistakes, there is no sense making them. Pistol Range Closed The pistol range will be closed on

6 Jr. B-B Gun Program Completed The 2012 program registered 79 kids, again as last year, a good share of them had no shooting experience. We finally prevailed in getting them to pay attention and quit talking. I guess that s what we re here for Our most improved shooter, Kenzie Johnson, was one of those first time shooters who had an awful time seeing the sights properly, but with extra coaching finally came around. She improved her final average 43.5 points over her 2nd week average. Kenzie s trophy and the rest of the trophies will be awarded at the annual April club meeting. Trophy winners and their average are as follows: Class A: 1 st Alex McNamara nd Kiera Wood rd Johnny Jendrejack Class B: 1 st Gabes Nelsen nd Angela Bonneprise * 3 rd Nathan Anderson * Class C: 1 st Bryan Dettman nd Zach Beer rd Kaiti Thome Class D: 1 st Hunter Sivek nd Nick McCarthy rd Liam Taber Class E: 1 st Ethan Faustioni nd Jimmy Czupryna rd Nick Shepard *Notice in Class B 2 nd & 3 rd place have the same average. This is not a scoring mistake, we had a tie. Angela beat Nathan by one point in a shoot off. As in past years, the trophy winners voted as a team to shoot against a parent. This year they picked their mothers. The mothers beat the kids 3076 to A couple small trophies were awarded to high mom, Suzie Dettman with a 291 and to high kid, Nathan Anderson with a 286. The evening concluded with cookies and pop provided by the instructors. In closing, I must thank the people who made the program possible. Jane George (before leaving for Florida), Rick Nelsen - range master, Jeremy Grezek, Andrew Malsack, Bill Zmuda - line coaches. Jo Hinchliffe - score keeper, Jeff Johnson and Kevin Lundquist - relay control, and Toby Thorsheim target scorer. Also, A big thanks to Jala Beer for filling in for Jo the last night of competition.
