1 WINTER 2017 Indian Ridge Gets Better Every Year! Enhanced Entry on Club Drive One new member described his impression of Indian Ridge as the Goldilocks phenomenon. He said, We looked at a lot of different clubs and Indian Ridge felt just right. One of the many reasons for such a posi ve reac on was due to the crea ve work of Director of Golf Course Maintenance Steve Seils and his crew who con nue to work their magic throughout the property. You will no ce the newly enhanced landscaping on Club Drive s median as you first arrive on property. Most of the exis ng grass, flowers, trees, boulders and Bougainvillea have been le in place. The balance of the landscaping was removed and the transforma on was completed with the addi on of beau ful specimen desert-scape plants. Last season, we transplanted three large Saguaros and two groupings of large Yuccas while our day me temperatures were op mum. The final result of the lush foliage and the new desert plants paired with our Saguaros and Yuccas is an impressive welcome to Indian Ridge. This is one more reason that Indian Ridge feels just right! Con nued on page 3

2 FROM THE PRESIDENT We are now in February and our season is in full swing in the desert. There is so much more fun to be had as we cheat the cold winter weather here in our li le piece of paradise. Thanks to more precipita on than usual, our golf course and grounds have never been more lush and our greens are rolling at professional tour speeds. Along with excellent agronomy condi ons, our General Manager Hall Wade and his talented team started our season out with several great improvements for members to enjoy. We saw our first glimpse of this when turning into Club Drive and enjoying a spectacular update to our median landscape. The color and contrast of desert plants, annual flowers and ground cover provide a sense that the experience for those visi ng will be special. For golfers, our new short game prac ce facility has been built conveniently adjacent to the Clubhouse and driving range where members can sharpen their skills in chipping, bunker play and wedge shots. This addi on completes the total golf prac ce package that includes two prac ce pu ng greens and a two-sided esthe cally pleasing driving range with a sophis cated performance center. As we move into 2017, I am pleased to report that our membership con nues to grow. Our zero-financing three-year program for golf memberships, along with other a rac ve membership opportuni es, is working. And our On-Site Real Estate Sales Office con nues to connect home buyers to our membership team. All the Club events so far this season have been extremely popular with great a endance. And the best is yet to come with the social and sport ac vi es ahead of us, so don t miss out on the fun. 3 Con nued from Cover: Indian Ridge Gets Be er Every Year Short Game Golf Prac ce Facility How do you make a great golf facility even greater? The answer is our new Short Game Prac ce Facility. Located just north of the original pu ng green, the new area includes an elevated green with several levels and pin loca ons. It accommodates a wide variety of prac ce shots including chips and pitches from 40 yards and less, and from fairway or rough lies, uphill, side-hill or downhill lies, plus bunker shots. This project enabled us to transi on the former chipping green into a second pu ng green. Members can now prac ce pu ng on the subtle undula ons of the east green (similar to the Arroyo course greens) and the more drama c undula ons of the west green (similar to the Grove greens). Another improvement was the removal of most of the wall surrounding the Bocce Ball and Croquet Lawn to open the views. We then relocated the Bocce Ball courts to an improved loca on where the Croquet Lawn had been. Further, tennis players on courts 9, 10 and 11 now have an enhanced view of the beauty of the Club. New Tees on Grove Course Last season we installed new Yellow (forward) Tees as a trial on the Arroyo Course. Enough members enjoyed the op on of the shorter course, so we took the next step. A new set of Yellow Tees was designed and approved for the Grove Course. The length from the Grove Yellow Tees is approximately 4650 yards - about 250 yards shorter than the Red Tees on Grove, which is a benefit to a wide range of golfers. 3

4 What s Happening Around the Ridge Opening Season Par es An ENORMOUS Hit! Our season opened up with a bang! The enjoyable and well-a ended Opening Season Par es consisted of two days of good music, delicious food and reuni ng with friends. The Clubhouse and Palmer Pa os overflowed with members and guests having a grand me. Chef Jim along with the Indian Ridge Culinary Team created an incredible menu, and California DJ rocked the house. Member Stun at Halloween Party The Club s 2nd annual Halloween Party was a blast! Members dressed up and competed for best costume. Dinner was delicious and a good me was had by all! That was just the start of a great season at Indian Ridge. Indian Ridge Travels Again The Indian Ridge Travel Club recently returned from their 4th excep onal voyage. This 10-day trip in September was a sensa onal ocean cruise on the brand new, luxurious Regent Seven Seas Explorer that began in Rome, then to the Amalfi Coast, up the Dalma an Coast to Kotor and finished in Venice. 4 The Travel Club will enjoy another great river cruise in Follow in the footsteps of Van Gogh, Cézanne and Gauguin and journey through southern France, reveling in the same sun-drenched scenery that cap vated the masters. 5 Annual House Walk Showcases the New & Improved The 5th Annual Indian Ridge House Walk featured a fun day venturing into homes in the community. We were graciously welcomed by the par cipa ng homeowners to view the crea ve interior and exterior upgraded designs of their homes. The House Walk was followed by cocktails and tasty hors d oeuvres at our Clubhouse. The Indian Ridge Tapitudes Tap Dancers with an A tude! This group of members began taking tap dance classes at the Club a few years ago. A er performing at the Club s Variety Show for two years, they took the show on the road. They audi oned for Open Call a major talent compe on at the McCallum Theatre. The dance troupe is shown here in the Green Room prior to their audi on. Tap Dancing classes are among the many group exercise classes offered at the Indian Ridge Health and Fitness Center. New Member Mixers Our monthly New Member Mixers are off to a great start! The December mixer was an Ugly Sweater theme. Members wore hilarious and fes ve sweaters to fit the theme. In January, the mixer was a Black and White Mustache Bash, with plenty of handheld mustaches to go around. We re looking forward to many more exci ng mixers with themes that will delight and surprise all, beginning with our next event, An Evening in Paris! 5

6 A Day at the Ridge On December 10th, 39 people joined us for an invita onal golf day for prospec ve members. This special event was designed to introduce poten al home buyers and prospec ve members to the ac vi es, facili es, services and people that make Indian Ridge Country Club such a special placed to live and play. New Year s Eve 2016 New Year s Eve at Indian Ridge is always a sensa onal celebra on! A sold-out crowd joined us for an evening of dinner, dancing and a memorable me with friends. The culinary team prepared a delectable meal, finished with exquisite chocolate and lemon desserts. The music was terrific and the dance floor was always full! This is one annual event not to miss! Indian Ridge Golf and Golf Professionals Interested in stepping up your golf game or learning more about the sport? Our Golf Professionals offer both individual and group clinics, from hourly lessons to full day golf schools or a comprehensive Golf Academy at The Performance Center. 7 Gala Casino Night to Benefit Employee Scholarship Fund Indian Ridge members have a great opportunity to make a difference and have a blast at the same me! Making a Difference April 1 and 2 is Make a Difference Weekend, suppor ng the Indian Ridge Scholarship Fund. The Fund provides scholarships for higher educa on for Indian Ridge employees and their children. Saturday night, April 1, is the Gala Casino Night. It will feature dinner, cocktails, gambling, prizes and live entertainment. Sunday morning is a fun nine-hole golf tournament with an enjoyable and popular eightsomes format, followed by lunch. APRIL 1 & 2, 2017 supporting The Indian Ridge Scholarship Fund A formal invita on to the weekend s ac vi es has been mailed to every Indian Ridge member. Details and reserva on forms are also available on the Fund s website, As Indian Ridge members, we are extremely lucky to have a group of dedicated and talented employees working at our Club. The Scholarship Fund is our opportunity to show how much we appreciate them. For many scholarship recipients, they will be the first in their family to be able to a end college. The Fund is currently providing grants to 14 students. You will be able to meet many of them at the luncheon on April 2nd. Indian Ridge Hosts the Rosie Casals & Jackie Cooper Team Tennis Pro-Am Indian Ridge resident and member Rosie Casals, winner of 12 Grand Slam events and Tennis Hall of Famer, will once again host the Team Tennis Pro-Am event benefi ng The Love & Love Tennis Founda on and Junior Tennis in the Coachella Valley. Last year s event honored Charlie Pasarell, a respected leader and spokesman for the game of tennis, as the first Recipient of the Jackie Cooper Award. The Pro-Am will feature Coachella Valley s top Junior and Pros teaming up with amateur players in a doubles round robin format. Teams will consist of one pro, one junior & two amateurs from all levels. The 2017 Rosie Casals & Jackie Cooper Team Tennis Pro-Am will be held on April 23rd. Contact the Tennis Pro Shop to sign up.
