3 A M E R I C A C U P Given by Mrs. C. C. Ernst, 18 holes stroke play All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 America Cup (1954 small cup with base), presented on Presentation Night. 4 B A R T O N T R O P H Y Barton Trophy donated by Mrs. Florrie Barton, to be presented to the competitor with the best net score. She expressed the wish that this never be changed and that the Barton Trophy always be played as a 36 hole stroke play competition. 36 holes Stroke Play, off handicap All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 (In line with CONGU regulations, a player plays off the same handicap in both rounds of 18 holes, with no reduction in second round for a good first.) Ties: Ties to be decided by last card count back. Runner-up: Barton Trophy, given by Mrs. P. H. 5 B A R T O N - S M I T H S H I E L D Shield presented in 1962 by Mrs. P. H. (Florrie) Barton and Mrs. E. (Dot) Smith Annual matches - v - Harwich & Dovercourt Ladies Format: 1. Four ball betterball matchplay. Number of pairs to be decided by the Captains. If competition halved, each club to hold trophy for 6 months each. 2. Two matches to be played each season with the same number of pairs in each match. 3. The venue of the matches to alternate. 4. The aggregate score of the two matches to decide the winner. 5. Teams to play in handicap order starting with the lowest and where convenient Lady Captains and or Lady Vice-Captains to lead the field. 7 C A P T A I N S P A S T & P R E S E N T Given by Mrs. P. H. Barton & Mrs. L. H. Pink Stableford, 7/8 handicap Time Sheet to be prepared by The Lady Captain Lady Captain to invite all past Captains to join in the event All past Lady Captains and current Lady Vice Captain of Clacton-on-Sea Golf Club to be included, even if they are now members of other clubs. The present Lady Vice-captain is invited to participate in this competition as a guest as a introduction to her forthcoming office as Lady Captain and therefore is not able to win the Rosebowl Entry Fee: None Silver Rose bowl on base, given by Mrs. P. H. Barton and Mrs. L. H. Pink, presented on the day arranged with roses by the previous winner. Lady Captain to arrange light lunch, cost to be met by competitors.

All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 The competitor with the lowest number of putts on the greens. Trophy: Cut glass crystal club head on plinth, purchased by the Ladies Section in 2002 in memory of Mrs Carol Finch (presented at Ladies AGM.) 9 C E N T E N A R Y T R O P H Y Purchased by the Ladies' Section in 1992 to commemorate the Club's Centenary Year A par competition, with a draw for playing partners Open to all. All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Centenary Trophy, (dark metal lady golfer), presented on Presentation Night. Voucher presented at Ladies AGM. 10 C L U B C H A M P I O N S H I P 36 holes stroke play scratch competition Open to all (In line with CONGU regulations, players will stay in the same division for each round, even if they reduce their handicaps in the first round). The competitor with the lowest scratch score will be the Club Champion. Large renovated trophy with handles, presented on Presentation Night. Voucher presented at Ladies AGM. 11 D O R I S D A V A L L B O W L Miss Doris Davall left 200 to Clacton-on-Sea Golf Club The brick fireplace and the Doris Davall Bowl were purchased Open to all All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Cards to be marked by any lady member who need not be doing a card that day. One Stableford card each month, April to September inclusive. This competition may be played in conjunction with another stableford or strokeplay competition or as a separate one. Final result to be assessed on best three cards returned by each competitor. Entry Fee: See Information Sheet at the front of Competition Rules Book. Entry fee payable when first entering the competition. Ties: Best aggregate of last nine holes of best three cards. Neal 1967 Knock-out Singles Match Play Open to all Stroke allowance - Full difference between handicaps All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Knock Out Qualifying Round: Draw for matches. Game to be Included in golfing calendar or on an alternate day if necessary to be played within 3 weeks. Knock Out Rounds: Draw to take place of the winners matches to be arranged between the players. * If there is an uneven number of players from the Knock Out Qualifying Round, the player will get a bye into the next Knock Out Round draw. 21 L O U I S E B A R T R U M T R O P H Y Winter Eclectic Open to all Not to be played in conjunction with the High/Low competitions NAMES MUST BE ENTERED IN THE CORRECT BOOK BEFORE PLAY First card to be 18 holes Stroke Play A score on a temporary green will not be accepted. However, players should record their score marking their card with a "T" to denote that the green was temporary when played. Subsequent cards to be nine consecutive holes minimum starting at the 1 st or 10 th tees, any additional holes being played to follow on consecutively. Maximum of two cards per week but no limit on a day e.g both cards can be done on the same day if desired Cards may be signed by any playing member. 5/8ths handicap to be deducted from gross score at the end of the competition All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Entry Fee: See Information Sheet at the front of Competition Rules Book - payable when first entering the competition. 28 WINDFALL QUALIFIER The Windfall Trophy is an Annual Stableford Competition organised by the Essex Ladies County Golf Association (ELCGA) It was first played in 1999, and the trophy, a modern silver jug with lid, was purchased with the proceeds of the Windfall, which ELCGA received from their Building Society account. All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 This is our Qualifying round for the Windfall Trophy, and the winner of today s round goes forward to represent Clacton-on-Sea Ladies. This round must be played by August 31 st. The Club meets entry, and catering costs for player and her caddy, at the final, which is held at a different venue each year, usually in the first week of October. 30 E W G A C O R O N A T I O N F O U R S O M E S Formerly sponsored by Stuart Crystal Peugeot 18 holes Foursomes Stableford This is a qualifying round, and the winners (or the runners up if the winners are not available), go forward to the next round. The Ladies Committee makes the final decision on who goes forward to represent the Club. Date and venue to be advised annually by EWGA All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Stroke allowance: half combined handicaps (See EWGA Handbook for further details) Entry Fee: See Information Sheet at the front of Competition Rules Book. Part of the entry fees goes to EWGA Winners: One each, bowls with long twisted stems, donated in memory of Mrs. Iris Monk, presented at the AGM EWGA provides mementoes for the winners, which are either given when they go to the regional final, or sent to the Club. 31 EWGA MONTHLY MEDALS The EWGA Monthly Medals are run under guidelines as laid out in the current EWGA Handbook, and Tuesday is our main day. Ladies are also able to play a (or additional) Monthly Medal on the following Saturday. The Saturday Medal is a separate competition and not just an additional day to play for the Monthly Medal which is played on a Tuesday. This Medal is for handicap purposes only and is not counted towards the Division winner. No payment is required to play. For the Saturday Medal a marker must be a fellow competitor, who may or may not be playing in the Alternative medal that day. Competitions Secretary is responsible for nominating a marker. All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Non-competitors must not take starting sheet times. Medals may be played in conjunction with a Club strokeplay competition as authorised by the Ladies Committee. The winner will receive a voucher, which will be presented at the Ladies AGM. Winners and runners-up qualify to play in the May Salver. If a winner or runner-up has already qualified to play in the May Salver, the player(s) with the next best score(s) qualify. (No countbacks, all those on the qualifying score go into the May Salver). Other prizes are attached to medals as follows: Medal 1: Lilian Baker Trophy Medal 3. 33 I D A B U N T I N G M E M O R I A L T R O P H Y This competition is open to all fully paid up playing members (not social) of the Society of Lady Captains of Essex Golf Clubs - Past & Present. It was given by that Society in memory of Mrs. Ida Bunting. The qualifier from each Club will be the best scoring member of the Society in a designated EWGA Medal round, played any month from August to November as per the Ida Bunting rules. The qualifier then goes through to the knockout stages of the competition.

34 M A I L O N S U N D A Y Teams of five play in qualifying rounds leading to a national final. The team has in the past been chosen by draw from a list of those ladies willing to play. There is a handicap limit of 24, if the players handicap is higher than 24 the player must play off 24. Entry for the competition should be submitted online by the 31 st December.

36 B I R D I E T R E E Greatest number of Birdies scored in 18 holes Tuesday qualifying competitions only All competitors must have a maximum handicap of 36 Only Birdies scored on completed cards are eligible, and the card must be in the competition. N.B. The Two's Sweep will also follow this rule. (to validate your birdie please sign the Birdie Book and complete details for the Birdie Tree hanger) Outright winners only of two divisions will be awarded prizes as follows: Silver Division Prize 0-24 Bird ornament and 3 Golf Balls Bronze I Division Bird ornament and 3 Golf Balls Prizes are presented at the Ladies AGM

38 F L A G C O M P E T I T I O N 18 or 12 holes (at the discretion of the Lady Captain) Greensome stroke play competition. Draw for partners, high / low, (played in fours) The Game: The first two pairs each take a flag out, and when they have run out of shots, place them where their last shots land, writing their names on the flag. This marks the leaders and runnersup spots for the rest of the field Any pair who can go further with their shot allowance takes the flag with them and puts it where their last shot lands. The place where the last shot lands, must be recorded on each pair s card. If the last shot used lands on the green, an indication of how far from the hole the ball lands should be written on the flag and on the players card. The flag should not be placed on the green, but on the fringe. (Remember that if only 12 holes are played, Standard Scratch Score will be 49 not 72) The Winners: The Winners are the pair who take their flag to the furthest point on the course before running out of shots. The pair reaching the second furthest point, are Runners-up. Handicap Allowance: For 18 holes = 1/2 combined handicaps For 12 holes = 1/3 combined handicaps (to be rounded up or down to the nearest stroke). Prizes: Winners receive a Flag trophy each Runners-up receive 2 golf balls each

41 W I N T E R L E A G U E C O M P E T I T I O N S Points table accumulated on results of non-qualifying competitions held during the winter, i.e. High/Low competitions, draws for Partners, Strings etc. These competitions are held in November through to February with a couple of exceptions that might take place in October and March. 43 P I N K B A L L T E A M G A M E Stableford competition open to all with a handicap of 36 or less. Played in teams of 3, drawn from high, medium and low handicaps. Each team will have a pink ball to be used by each member every third hole ie 1 st, 4 th, 7 th... 2 nd, 5 th, 8 th... 3 rd, 6 th, 9 th... and scoring double points. There will be a spare pink ball for each team but it cannot be used on the hole you lost the first ball. No extra points for teams coming home with a pink ball. You may be penalised for being clever! Best two scores per hole including or excluding pink ball score whichever is higher - to count towards team score. Ties: Countback as in our Rules of Entry. Points for Winter League Trophy
