6 Head Pro Corner Want Lower Scores? Make More Putts! Better putting is the fastest and easiest way to lower your scores. Putting plays a large role in the success of the player at every level of the game. Golf is a Game of Distance and Direction Your putting practice routine should incorporate sound putting fundamentals while addressing your distance and direction concerns. Productive Putting Practice Drill: Look at the target while taking one or more practice strokes; allow your eyes to tell your brain how much energy is needed to stroke the ball the appropriate distance. Set up to the ball, take one more look at the target, then at the ball and recreate the energy that you rehearsed in your practice stroke(s). After you have learned to control your distance consistently on a level portion of the green, increase the challenge by putting to uphill, then downhill targets. Putts of this length usually have some break, improving your green reading skills during your practice session or pre-round warm up. A productive pre-round warm up on the putting green could include making a high percentage of four or five straight uphill putts building confidence in your direction control. Then stroke three putts uphill to a target 20 feet away, and three putts downhill the same distance determining the speed of the green, which will have an influence on your target (line of putt). Direction Control Place a tee at a straight uphill four foot putt. Work on a set up that allows you to aim your putter face at the target, creating a path that produces consistent contact on the putter face in the direction of the target. While you are mastering your direction control, be more disciplined in trusting your stroke; LISTEN to the ball fall into the hole. NO PEEKING!! This is a great arena to practice your set up, mechanics, and pre-putt routine allowing you to get more comfortable and confident over every putt. Spend five minutes of your practice time mastering direction control. By making many four footers, you are building your confidence as you groove your stroke. Distance Control Choose a level spot on the putting green that allows you to putt three balls to different holes at varied distances For example: ten, twenty, and thirty feet. Focus on controlling your distance putting one ball to each target. Find a routine that allows you to control your distance with consistency. June 6 Make More Putts!! Shoot Lower Scores!! 10 Dear Members, GM S Corner I feel like a high school principal when I have to go over the rules of the Club but someone has to do it. Better to get the information out now than to wait. As they say, weight broke the wagon wheel. Where are my golf clubs allowed? Definitely not in the Tavern. If you don t store your clubs at Hidden Creek, please take them to your car after your round. There have been several occasions where many sets of clubs are placed in the Tavern either before or after golf. Not only is it not permitted but the clubs are a tripping hazard as well. What is the dress code on the golf course? Proper slacks and shorts are permitted but no cargo pants or jeans can be worn on the course or the PRACTICE AREAS! This includes the indoor hitting area. Shirts are to be tucked in at all times. Do I need to sign a receipt for every transaction at the Club? The short answer is yes. This includes signing for a cart prior to your round of golf. There are too many instances where cart fees have been misapplied and it is very important that all charges are applied to the correct account. I think we can all agree on that! Are guests allowed at the pool? Of course but there is a guest fee and the guest fee is not new. I have been asked recently about the new guest fee policy at the Club. My best guess as to the reason for the confusion is we, as a Club had done a poor job in tracking or monitoring guest usage at the pool. Going forward, we hope to do a much better job. Also, we request that all members remember to sign in at the pool when you arrive. Can I wear my bathing suit in the Clubhouse? Um, no! Only around the pool and the locker room. If you are planning on spending any time in the Clubhouse after using the pool, please change into proper attire. The Club has also made some staffing additions to better serve your food and beverage needs around the pool, thus, minimizing the need to go into the Clubhouse. I hope you don t find these rules too oppressive and if you have any questions, please don t hesitate to ask. Sincerely, Stephen Lutz June 10

15 View From The Green Robotic Greens Mowers The robotic greens mowers are in action! After taking some time to set up the mowing equipment and iron out some wrinkles, we are confident in our ability to incorporate the mowers into the daily maintenance of the golf course. I have already noticed a big difference in the quality of cut and the resulting ball roll is also very noticeable. We will be hosting a demonstration on Wednesday June 10 th. Stay tuned for more details. The New Bathroom Is Operational! The new bathroom at the range is ready and waiting. We service the facility daily so it should always be nice and clean. Grass at the Practice Tee The grass at the tee is now open. We will monitor wear and tear and adjust the schedule accordingly. Please let me know what you think. See you on the course!
