Dear Members, From the GM s Desk Mother Nature had been giving us great weather this winter but she finally enacted her revenge. We measured nearly 40 inches of snow on the golf course Sunday January 24th. So the big question is...now what? Well, just because the golf course is closed doesn t mean that there is nothing going on at the Club. We shovel off the 15th green and tee for the Snow-Mageddon Dinner and par 3 contest on January 31st with 16 players vying to be the best. We have many new and exciting Social and Dining Events planned for February, there is something for everyone. We continue to put together a social committee that will meet monthly to brainstorm for new Social Events, come up with a Social Calendar and help spread the word and increase participation in the events we organize. The goal is to have something for everyone, not just a few. Our Membership is becoming more diverse every day and it is important to develop and host events that appeal to more than just one age or social group. The committee will help us steer the ship in that direction. We know you will see the difference in the coming months. The committee will be a fairly small group or 4 or 5 Members. If you have an interest in being part of the committee, please let me know as soon as possible. We have completed the first round of Focus Group meetings and the feedback and information from these groups is extremely interesting and will be very helpful in guiding the Club towards the improvements that the members want to see and enjoy. The first meetings were simply information gathering in broad strokes. We will now take that information, compile it into a useful form and meet again with the groups to better define the suggestions from the first meetings. The end result of this time and effort the Focus Group Members are putting in is to improve the Club in ways that the Members want and to have amenities and facilities that you will all be proud to call yours, proud to bring your friends to and, most importantly, feel you are getting the best experience possible. We can t wait for you all to see and experience the results. Lastly, the Ambassador Membership Referral Program continues to build momentum. Sharon continues to receive referrals daily and we are grateful for the participation thus far. Keep the momentum going, keep those referrals rolling in and keep increasing those monthly savings you receive by referring your friends. I look forward to seeing you at the Club!!! Eric Levin - General Manager
Blizzard of 2016 Arguably the largest snowfall in Hidden Creek history, the blizzard of 2016 put the Washington DC metro area into a state of chaos. Much of our staff and many of our members were trapped in their homes for upwards of 5 days. We measured nearly 40 inches of snow at the Club but were able to get some of our staff here quickly enough to have the parking lot and Clubhouse entrances cleared out by Monday, assessed the Clubhouse for damage on Tuesday and re-opened for business on Wednesday. We were lucky to have no significant damage! We hope you enjoy the images below now that most of the snow has melted.

Membership News February 2016 Membership Highlights We continue to move in a positive direction with the Ambassador Preview Membership Initiative with 13 signed Members and 26 referrals we currently are working with. We are regularly inviting the referrals to come visit the Club with a Member for a Day experience. Don t let your family, friends or referrals wait for spring, remind them they will not pay Dues until April. They can be a member now and use all of the Club facilities immediately. The Club will be hosting several upcoming Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce Events. February 11th in the Fairway Room from 4pm to 8pm. Educational and Networking event regarding transportation in Reston and the impact of the Fairfax County Master Plan. This will be Panel tentatively includes Reston Asscoc. CEO, Mark Looney of Cooley, LLC, Pete Ottoni, Boston Properties, Matt Valentini, JBG Companies & Cate Fulkerson. Reston Chamber s Young Professional Networking Event on March 17 th. This is a Lunch & Learn Series for the Young Professional Members of the Chamber. Hidden Creek Country Club s Ambassador Membership Preview Initiative There is no better time to invite your friends and family to join Hidden Creek. Club improvements are happening daily and the Ambassador Preview Membership allows your friends and family to try the Club with no upfront costs and, when they do join, you and they will receive the monthly credits and the social benefits that come with an active Club. We have begun working with the local Condo associations and developers to generate membership opportunities. With all of the new construction in Reston, there is unbelievable potential for new members. We are currently working with The Harrison where we are included in their welcome packages for new residents. They have invited our Golf Professionals to come to one of their resident s nights at their indoor rooftop driving range to give some instructions. They will also include any special events we are hosting on their resident newsletter. This type of exposure to young, family oriented residents is what will continue growing our Membership. There is an air of excitement at the Club, and your efforts are truly appreciated. We need your continued help and support! Happy Valentine s Day! Sharon Slavin
View From The Green.Golf Course Update The maintenance department has been steadily working towards our goals in reclaiming areas of the golf course. Objectives change with the weather as we move through the winter. We have seen unusually warm weather (topping off at 72 ) through December then faced record breaking snowfall amounts in January. We developed an action plan for the storm and initiated it with perfection. Everyone did an awesome job on clean-up and snow removal. Current Projects Preparations for the last storm included removal of all play supplies off of the golf course. This provided us the time to organize and refurbish them. We are also working on preventative maintenance on all the equipment. This will prepare us for the upcoming spring. As soon as we can get back out on the course we will continue to push forward with our projects listed below. 9 Golf News Head Pro s Corner January and February are typically months when the Golf Shop reorganizes for the upcoming season, sets up new procedures for every aspect of the operation, orders merchandise for the upcoming year, meets with committees to plan the calendar of events for the year ahead and begins to hire new staff for spring. We are doing all of those things to improve the products and services for our Members and Guests. A new Handicap Committee has been established per the VSGA guidelines to oversee and enforce the USGA handicap rules as they pertain to our Members. We have also begun searching for a 2nd Assistant Golf Professional to in place by April 1st to give us a full Professional Staff overseeing the entire Golf Operation; Golf Shop, Tee Times, Outside Services, Bag Storage, Driving Range and Golf Carts. We know you will see the difference that this will make in your 2016 Golf experience. Michael Farewell PGA Head Golf Professional Don t let the winter cold deter your golf game and practice schedule. The indoor practice area is yours to use anytime, no appointment necessary! Practice your full shots, short game, putting stroke and even use the Launch Monitor to see if you are performing at your peak!

Golf Instructor s Corner What to Practice and Why It is a simple question I ask to my players: what should you practice and why? The answers I receive are all too often complex and convoluted. I believe the most appropriate answer is simpler. It is whatever makes the player best, fastest. Why would it be anything else? You may need help figuring out what it is that would make you best, fastest. I would love to help. Now is the time to get started. Let me help.
