As we say goodbye to 2017, the staff and I are looking forward to a great year at CCP in With four months of experience under my belt and seeing the Club through a busy December, I have identified some areas where we need to improve the services we offer and have shared these with the Board of Directors and my management staff. In 2018, we will focus on enhancing service and amenity levels around the entire Club to increase member usage and satisfaction. Overall, 2017 was a very positive year for CCP. We met or exceed many of our fiscal goals and we are entering into 2018 with a very strong financial position. I would like to extend a thank you to the Board of Directors for their guidance and perseverance during a year that included a General Manager search and a major cart path project during that GM transition. Below are some updates I would like to share as we close out the year and look to the next: 2018 Operational Budget / Capital Budget The Board of Directors has approved a budget for The management staff and I worked diligently to present a budget that was fiscally responsible while still addressing the needs of our growing membership. I will highlight a few items of interest regarding the budget: - The budget was based on a total membership of 474. As of December 7th, the membership total was 49. We are anticipating this number to drop to 40 members at the beginning of the year due to attrition (relocation, lack of use, death, etc). Both the Board and I feel the 474 number is a good benchmark to reflect a healthy cashflow throughout our fiscal year. Our ultimate goal in 2018 is 500 total members. - The budget does reflect a 4% increase in both monthly and capital dues. We did budget for a 3% increase in club expenses while increasing yearly revenues by 5% for food and beverage. The budget also increases the cart fees by $2.00. This increase represents the addition of a new cart fleet and stays in line with golf cart fees in the area. 2 CLUB MEMBERSHIP GENERAL MANAGER continued from page 1 - The 2018 budget also addresses ascetics around the Club including: painting (clubhouse flag pole, fence around the pool, both pools); repairing the path leading to the pool; and lighting of the front entrance to the clubhouse. - The grounds maintenance department will replace two pieces of equipment that have exceeded their life expectancy: Toro rotary mower and Toro aerator. - The kitchen will replace aged and inefficient equipment: 3-door refrigerator and oven. - The parking area at the grounds maintenance building will be replaced with concrete. The path leading to that lot will also be repaired and resealed. We will see this work done in the early spring. Ryan Grant (Food & Beverage Manager) and Joe Jackson (Operations Manager) The beginning of the New Year will see some changes in the food and beverage management team at CCP. Ryan Grant will be leaving us the first week of January to accept a position with a previous employer. This is great move for Ryan and his young family as it will allow him more time to spend with his wife and daughter. We are sad to see him go and will miss his leadership. Good luck Ryan!! Joe Jackson will also be leaving us at the end of January to relocate to New Jersey. Joe has accepted the Assistant General Manager position at Upper Montclair Country Club. This move will provide Joe with more opportunities to develop his skills as a private club manager. The future looks bright for Joe and I am sure he will be running his own club in a few years. Good luck Joe!! With the departure of both Joe and Ryan comes the task of replacing them. I have started to reach out to many of my contacts in the industry and we will advertise these positions both locally and nationally. Chef Stephen will be very involved in the interview and decision-making process as we look to replace these key positions. In the meantime, I along with Chef Stephen and Abigail Rose (Events Coordinator), will handle the Club s food & beverage needs. Please feel free to contact any one of us with questions, concerns or comments. I will keep the membership up-to-date with the search progress. Easter (Sunday, April 1st) and Mothers Day (Sunday, May 13th) Reservations This year the Club will be implementing a new reservation system for our large holiday brunches. Reservations will be taken on the ½ hour starting at 10:30am. Room requests will be taken and the staff and I will do all we can to accommodate these requests. This change is to better accommodate more members at these events and create an even flow of members and their guests throughout the day. This reservation system will also allow us to better utilize areas of the Club that in turn will allow for a more enjoyable experience for everyone. January Events and February Shut-Down After the holidays we always see a lull in the month of January, but we are still open for business and want to encourage everyone to come out! In January you will see the following daily specialty events at the Club: Tuesday: Kids Eat Free Thursday: Homestyle Special Saturday: Prime Rib Special Sunday: Mimosa Brunch (Complimentary glass of mimosa or champagne) Wine-Down Friday (January 19th) Come out to the Club for a complimentary wine tasting. DAOU Vineyards will be at CCP from pm-9pm tasting out their portfolio of wines. We will also have live music from 7pm-10pm in the New Bar. Finally, the Club will close following the Mimosa Brunch on Sunday, January 28th and reopen for lunch service on Thursday, March 1st. I look forward to seeing everyone in January!! 3 CLUB ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES FROM THE GOLF SHOP BY SCOTT BROWNFIELD Happy New Year!! Hopefully the Holiday Season treated you and your family well. As we enter the off-season, the Professional Team is gearing up for the 2018 season and preparations for the 2018 Grandview Invitational are already underway! This year the ever-so-popular event will be held June 21st 23rd, For those of you who played in 2017, you will have until March 15th, 2018 to reserve your spot for this year s event. Currently we have twenty-three members on the waiting list, so please make sure you send an to sbrownifeld@ ccofpeoria.org to reserve your spot. Moving the tournament to these June dates will allow us to add twelve teams to the field. The top twelve on the waiting list will receive the initial letter later next month. The winter months are a great time to get some swings in with the Professional Staff. Both Scott and Andrew will be teaching during January and February. Please call the Golf Shop if you are interested in taking a few winter lessons. Andrew will be reaching out to the Junior PGA Team to organize off-season practices. The Junior PGA sessions will be designed with an instructional focus, but will have a fun/fitness component as well. Times and dates to be announced soon. Both Andrew Braun and JC Ingold will be returning for the upcoming season. Both did an excellent job in 2017 and we look forward to their continued contributions in Later this month, we will be heading down to the PGA Industry Show where we will be learning about the latest and greatest products golf manufactures have to offer. This year s theme at the show is geared towards Youth and Family, so we look forward to bringing home new ideas to share with our membership. Thank you for a great 2017!! 4 CLUB ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES FROM TEE TO GREEN BY ANDY MORRIS Here comes 2018! It feels like every year goes by faster and 2017 was no different. December provided some actual golfing weather before turning cold mid-month. It also was a very dry month with limited precipitation or snowfall. Not much winter activity on the course yet, but that can always change in January. The Golf Maintenance staff finds January to be a busy time for the small staff that remain through the winter. All of the equipment goes through routine maintenance and any bigger mechanical projects are in the works. Towards the end of the month the focus becomes putting all the equipment back together and getting ready for the seasonal crew to return in mid-march. Snow removal can enter into the equation in January, so it can become interesting if Mother Nature decides to step in. Every year we find ourselves rushing by the end of the month to complete our equipment repairs and get things organized for the upcoming season. We have course projects on our plate during the winter so January keeps us jumping! The holiday decorations come down shortly after the New Year and that is a monumental task. Annette Hollaway heads up the project with the assistance of the Golf Maintenance staff. There is a lot of work that goes into decorating the clubhouse annually and an equal amount of effort that goes in to taking it all down and storing it for next year. Annette and the Golf Maintenance crew do a great job of getting it done and put away in an orderly and timely fashion. Great job folks!! Hopefully January will bring some moisture in the form of snow so some winter activities can be enjoyed on the course. Remember, if you plan to come out to the course please follow the winter guidelines and check the flag on the 10th tee by the Pro Shop parking lot. A blue flag is good for activities and a red flag means the course is closed to winter activities. The flag color decision is based on soil conditions and the amount of snow cover on the course. We try to keep turf damage to a minimum on the course during the winter. Your efforts are much appreciated and go a long way in helping us keep winter damage to a minimum. We thank you for the assistance! With the New Year behind us and 2018 ahead, the Golf Maintenance staff would like to wish all our members a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. January is always appreciated by our staff as it provides one of the last chances to spend time with our families and friends before the busy golfing season returns. Hard to believe that mid-march is just around the corner and seasonal staff will be returning! It might be a good time to at least get the clubs out and look them over. It won t be long until the 2018 season is in full swing (no pun intended)! Until then, I hope you are somewhere warmer than Peoria! See you on the course! FROM THE FITNESS DIRECTOR BY MICHAEL BUHS Winter is just around the corner and that means colder weather, shorter days, and great holiday food. One great way to battle the effects of this winter trifecta is strength and cardiovascular training 2-3 times per week. Introductory rates start at just $20 dollars per session for the first 5 sessions. So sign up today!!! Jump back into fitness and fight the holiday bulge. I am here to help you get a head start on your New Year s Resolution! Holiday gift certificates also available! Contact: or Michaelbuhs@ymail.com 4 JAN/FEB 2018 GRANDVIEWS

5 CLUB ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES Winter Activity Guidelines The following guidelines have been established for winter activities on the golf course for this upcoming winter. The Golf Maintenance Staff and the Greens Committee want our members to enjoy winter recreation on the course while minimizing impact on the turf. In order to protect the turf from damage, we ask that the following policy be followed. 1. Sledding will be allowed on # hill in front of the middle tee box, on #9 hill in front of the back tee box, and on the driving range in front of the practice tee. Please keep sleds off of greens and tee areas. 2. When sledding please use only flat bottom saucers, sleds and toboggans. NO RUNNER SLEDS ALLOWED. Runner sleds have the potential to cause serious turf damage. 3. Cross country skiing will be allowed around the perimeter of the course. Flags will be used to mark the designated trails to be followed. DO NOT SKI OVER GREENS AND TEE AREAS. 4. A flag will be placed on #10 tee at the Pro Shop parking lot. If the flag is BLUE then sledding and skiing are allowed. If the flag is RED then winter activities are prohibited. The amount of snow cover and ground conditions will dictate if activities are allowed. You may also contact the golf maintenance staff at or the clubhouse at to check current conditions. 5. No snow mobiles or four wheeling is allowed on the course at any time. If these guidelines are followed there will be minimal impact to the course and the membership will be able to enjoy winter recreation on the course. Utilizing designated areas and trails will help control and monitor use of the property by non-members. As always, we appreciate your help by following the above rules for the winter season. Thank you. RECIPROCAL CLUBS If you are traveling this holiday season or making plans for early 2018 vacations, consider our network!
