1 It s Club Time for all Fifth Grade Students We are excited that this year we are able to offer three clubs to our fifth grade students. The students can choose from Art, Chorus or Sports. Chorus and Art club will be held on Thursday mornings, and Sports club will be on Friday Mornings. All clubs will be before school, starting at 7:30 am and ending at 8:20 am. This opportunity is reserved only for our fifth graders. Attending a club is a special privilege, and choosing a club is to be taken as a serious commitment. Therefore, students attendance and punctuality are expected. Club sponsors also expect appropriate behavior to be shown at all times. If a student is absent and or tardy two times they may be dismissed from the club. Parents are responsible for providing transportation to the school. Students can be dropped off at the front of the school starting at 7:25 am (no sooner). They may then wait in the atrium area until 7:30 am at which time the students will be released to go to their club. On the back of this letter you will find a brief description of each club being offered. Students need to select their club choice, and then write a thoughtful, well written paragraph explaining why they would like to join the club they listed as their 1st choice. The club sponsors will be reading each application to select members to their clubs. Unfortunately, the clubs are limited in the number of students each can take. Every effort will be made to place each student in their club choice. We are excited about clubs, and are looking forward to a great year! 2 Clubs Offered Below is a brief description of each club offered. Read them carefully to make your choice. Art Club Is the club where you will enjoy developing your skills as an Artist, while creating your own works of art. You will have the opportunity to explore many different art mediums; such as, pastels, charcoal, paint, clay, and many more. Art Club is also an opportunity for you to explore and develop the artist within yourself, finding your own unique art style. We will have fun so come join us!! (club fee is $25.00 and covers art materials and T-shirt) Intramural Sports Club Intramurals are a fun, exciting way to start your school day. We play a variety of sports throughout the year, such as modified softball, downer ball, handball, scooter board hockey and backboard bombers, just to name a few! Sports club is like advanced physical education class in which we use sports skills in a variety of different sports. We play hard and have a great time! (club fee is $25.00 which includes a club t-shirt) Chorus is a performing group for those who have a great love for singing. Performances include a short performance at the school for Eagle Day, a holiday performance at a Gwinnett Gladiators Hockey game, a patriotic selection at a Gwinnett Braves game and a possible field trip in December at a location within the community. We culminate our year with a Spring Finale incorporating singing, choreography, costumes, and special character parts. A few after school rehearsals will be scheduled the week prior to our spring performance. Regular

NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24th Name: Teacher: Please write a paragraph explaining why you would like to be in the club you listed as your 1st choice. Take your time and put some careful thought into writing your paragraph. The club sponsors will read each paragraph to determine who will be selected to participate in the club.
