4 MAEF to award 18 $3000 in Scholarships In keeping with the spirit of serving the equestrian community the Mid-Atlantic Equitation Festival is offering $3000 in Scholarship Awards in 2016 Our scholarships are made possible with generous support from Maryland Horse Industry Board Marion dupont Scott Medical Center VA - MD Regional College of Veterinary Medicine MAEF Silent Auction $ 1500 Maryland Horsemanship Scholarship First Place $ 1000 Second Place $ 500 Special prizes for Runner ups in two age groups under17 and This scholarship is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC including MAEF exhibitors under the horse show age of 26 (age as of 12/1/15). All equestrian enthusiasts from any and all disciplines (4-H, Pony Club, IEA, IHSA, dressage, eventing, western and breed disciplines) are encouraged to apply and are eligible upon submission of the Scholarship Registration Form and fee. Six candidates with the top scores from a multiple choice written horsemanship exam will proceed to a practicum of general horsemanship knowledge conducted by a veterinarian and team of experts. In the event of a tie the practicum evaluation will take precedence. The award presentation will take place before the Team Class in the evening on Saturday, Nov 12. There is no fee for this award. The award will combine the results of a multiple choice written horsemanship exam with their top two riding scores from the first two days of competition at MAEF. In the event of a tie the ride scores will take precedence. Candidates must be an exhibitor in one of the MAEF Championship classes and under the horse show age of 26 (age as of 12/1/15).
