Riders in this division may only cross enter into Novice Jumper, if eligible, and Low Jumper at the same show. OAK RIDGE MEDAL CLASS: Open to juniors and amateur riders. Over fences phase will consist of a USEF-type equitation, A-O/Jr. jumper course of at least ten fences at a height of with spreads to 4. Flat phase to count 50% & must run first. No martingales in the flat phase. Top ten riders will be called back for the over fences phase. Jump order is determined by judge. Judge may require additional tests from USEF tests Minimum of 3 to fill class.

Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 2 6 or 3. No cross entry between height sections. LOW HUNTER: Open to horses. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 3. WORKING HUNTER: Open to horses. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 3 3 or 3 6. HOPEFUL HUNTER: Open to all horses and ponies. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 2 3. OPEN/VHSA WORKING HUNTER: Open to all horses and ponies. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 2 6. ADULT HUNTER: Open to horses ridden by an amateur adult. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 3. CHILDREN S HUNTER: Open to horses ridden by a junior. Judged on performance, manners, and way of going. Fences 3. SWVHJA HUNTER SEAT MEDAL CLASS: Open to members of SWVHJA who have not reached their 18th birthday as of Dec.1. Riders to be mounted on horses to be shown over a course of fences not to exceed 3. The course will include 2 changes of direction, a combination, and at least 3 oxers. A minimum of 6 riders, if available, must be called back to work on the flat. Martingales may not be used in the flat phase. SWVHJA ADULT MEDAL CLASS: Same specs as for the SWVHJA Hunter Seat Medal Class, except open to adult amateur riders 18 years of age and older. Ponies may be ridden by adults, but may not be shown in the Pony Hunter Division at the same show. SWVHJA/VHSA JUNIOR EQUITATION ON THE FLAT: Open to junior riders who have not reached their 18th birthday as of Dec.1. To be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Judged on position, control, and guidance. USEF tests 1-19 may be used. A minimum of 3 entries are required to fill this class. If there are fewer than 3 entries, the class will be combined with the SWVHJA Adult Equitation on the Flat Class. SWVHJA/VHSA ADULT EQUITATION ON THE FLAT: Same specs as for the SWVHJA Junior Equitation on the Flat Class, except open to adult amateur riders 18 years of age and older. SWVHJA BEGINNER EQUITATION: Open to junior and amateur riders in their first year of showing. Fences 2. No oxers permitted. Riders are eligible for one horse show year and may not enter divisions with fence heights exceeding 2. This division not to count against rider s 2 year eligibility for the Intermediate Hunter division. To be judged on rider s position and control. INTERMEDIATE HUNTER: Open to anyone in his first or second year of showing following beginner equitation division. Fences 2 3. Rider may not jump fences higher than 2 6 at the same show. SPECIAL CHILDREN S HUNTER: Open to horses and ponies shown by juniors. Horse and rider combination may not compete over fences higher than 2 9 at the same show. Fences to be 2 6 or 2 9. SPECIAL ADULT HUNTER: Open to horses or ponies shown by adult amateur riders. Ponies shown by an adult may not cross enter into the Pony Hunter Division. Horse and rider combination may not compete over fences higher than 2 9 at the same show. Fences to be 2 6 or 2 9. LARGE PONY HUNTER: Open to ponies, over 13.2h not to exceed 14.2h, ridden by juniors. Fences to be 2 6. The same pony must be used for both phases of the class. To be shown over a minimum of 6 jumps at the appropriate heights. Martingales may not be used in the flat phase. RANDOLPH-COLLEGE MEDAL CLASS: Open to junior and adult amateur riders who have not qualified for the SWVHJA hunter seat medal, SWVHJA adult medal or the Oak Ridge Medal during the existing or the previous show year; quailifiers for the pony medal are still eligible. Winners of any of the 3 finals are prohibited from competing. SWEET BRIAR MEDAL Sweet Briar College offers a 2 9 medal for junior and amateur riders. To be eligible, riders may not have shown in a 3 6 or higher medal and/or a 3 medal finals in the current qualifying year. Riders cannot jump higher than 2 9 at the same show. Three competitors need to complete the course for it to count as a qualifying class.
10 GENERAL INFORMATION Schooling will be permitted after 1:00PM the day before the show, and before and after each show day as determined by the course designer. Six ribbons will be awarded in each class. Champion and Reserve Champion ribbons will be awarded in each division. All early entries should be sent to: House Mountain Horse Show; 487 Maury River Road, Lexington, Virginia (Fax: ) or enter free ONLINE at horseshowsonline.com The Horse Show Office will be located in the Anderson Coliseum and will be open the day before the show from noon to 6:00 PM. It will open one hour before the start of each show day and will remain open until the close of the show. The show office number is Upon arrival at each show, all exhibitors must show a copy of a current negative coggins report to the show secretary for each horse brought on the grounds. Current health papers (within 30 days) or appropriate equine passport are required for horses brought in from out of state. Exhibitors are asked to leave an open check rather than cash. Driver s license is required on check. The Virginia Horse Center, the House Mountain officials and staff, and SWVHJA & VHSA will not be held responsible for any accident or loss which may occur to any exhibitor, spectator, groom, or animal at the show. FEES Entry Fee: $20.00 per class. All Medal/Equitation/Warmup classes $25.00 per class. Stalls are $35 per day/night. Early arrivals and/or late departures must be arranged for in advance with the Virginia Horse Center Stable Office. Bedding may be pre-ordered, but must have an open check or a credit card. Stable office # Stall orders may be called in to Molly Moore at , before Thursday at 5:00pm. After that, call the stable office at Stalls will be available, but placement cannot be guaranteed. Tack stall splits are only available if done on the entry blank in advance. Please note that the total may exceed 100%. Anyone without a stall will be required to pay a $20 grounds fee per day. Non-showing riders and horses are welcome with a $25 schooling fee and a grounds or stall fee. Camper spaces will be available at a cost of $44.92 (insludes tax) per day/night.
