2 Special Awards HIGH POINT NOVICE AND HIGH POINT AOTR LGPHC/NEPHC Award to be given to the High Point Novice, by the LGPHC, and award to be given to the High Point Amateur Owner to Ride, by the NEPHC. Qualifying classes, for HP Novice, are 10, 17, & 28. Qualifying classes, for HP AOTR, are 32, 36, & 38 through a class competition. BEST GAITED LGPHC/NEPHC Qualifying classes are 33, 35, 37, and 39. HIGH POINT CRYSTAL (SENIOR) HORSE OF SHOW, AND CRYSTAL CLASS, AWARDS Graciously donated by Deb Morgan LGPHC Horses 14 years old or older. Points to be counted in ALL classes entered INCLUDING Championships. The winner receives a gorgeous and unique lead crystal award, etched with a Peruvian design, plus a $100 cash prize. Qualifying classes this year are 15, 24, 26, 30, 31, 32, 34, 36, 38, 39, and 40. Additionally, the winner of each Crystal Class (24, 34 and 39) will receive a glass award etched with a Peruvian design. LGPHC VERSATILITY AWARD LGPHC The LGPHC Versatility Award is given annually with the winner receiving both a trophy and prize. In classes qualifying for the LGPHC Versatility Award ONLY and not a breeding or pleasure award, horses may be any age and shown in bozal or bit. To be eligible for the LGPHC Versatility Award, a horse must compete in at least 3 of the qualifying classes. (TRAIL CLASS COUNTS FOR DOUBLE POINTS.) In the event the same horse wins the award 3 times, it is considered Laureado for the award and may not compete again. Qualifying classes this year are 15, 26, 30, 31, & 40. VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER FACILITY HIGH POINT & RESERVE JUNIOR AGE GROUPS: 6 12 AND LGPHC/NEPHC The High Point and Reserve High Point Junior Awards have been split into 2 age groups, 6 12 and years of age. The Junior High Point and Reserve High Point winners from each age group will receive an award. Qualifying classes this year are 12, 19, 21, & 45, for Juniors age 6 12, and 13, 20, 22, & 46 for Juniors age HIGH POINT AMATEUR AWARD NEPHC The Joann Preston Perpetual Award Intention to compete for this award MUST BE STATED ON THE ENTRY FORM or points will not be counted. Points are counted in ALL CLASSES except: Group entries (Get/Produce, Conjuntos, etc.), Championships, Best Bozal and Best Gaited Classes. NO JUNIORS! JUDGE S PICK - BEST HORSE OF SHOW NEPHC The Hilario Carrera Perpetual Award To be chosen solely by the judge s opinion as to his/her choice. This award will not be awarded through a class competition. HIGH POINT HORSE OF SHOW LGPHC Eligible are any, and all, qualifying classes.

3 VIRGINIA HORSE CENTER The Virginia Horse Center is a 600 acre state-of-the-art environment, for horse shows and other livestock events, located at 487 Maury River Road, on the northwest side of Lexington, Virginia. The Virginia Horse Center has eighteen show rings and arenas, including the 300' x 150' indoor Waldron Arena in the Howard P. Anderson Coliseum. There is The American Work Horse Museum, located at the VHC, a five-mile Olympic caliber cross-country course, and also an internationally recognized carriage driving marathon course on the Oak Hill property. The Center also offers such amenities as 2 campgrounds, a restaurant & catering service with banquet facilities, and more. Plenty of other activities, sights, places of interest, etc. are located nearby as well. Our show will take place at the New East Complex A self-contained indoor arena with attached barns, containing over 150 stalls, and a warm up ring. Directions: From the North: I-81 South to Exit 191. Proceed on I-64 West 1/2 mile to Exit 55. Turn right on Route 11 North, and immediately left on Route 39 West. The Virginia Horse Center is one mile ahead on the left. From the South: I-81 North to Exit 191. Proceed on I-64 West 1/2 mile to Exit 55. Turn right on Route 11 North, and immediately left on Route 39 West. 4 Information Concerning Your Horses Tack and Attire Information HEALTH REQUIREMENTS ~ MUST READ! All horses are subject to a physical examination by the Show Vet, free of charge, as a safeguard against communicable Equine Disease, if deemed necessary by the Show Committee. All horses must have a Health Certificate issued by an accredited veterinarian within 30 days of the show and proof of a negative Coggins (EIA) test within 6 months of the show. A CURRENT COPY OF COGGINS MUST ACCOMPANY SHOW ENTRY. ORIGINAL COGGINS MUST ACCOMPANY HORSE. - EIA HEALTH REQUIREMENTS: The Virginia Department of Agriculture, Division of Animal Health, requires that all horses assembled at a Show, Fair, Race Meet, or other such function, must be accompanied by an official negative coggins. Exhibitors MUST show their veterinary papers to the Barn Superintendent BEFORE unloading their horses. Any exhibitor arriving without the required veterinary papers will not be permitted to unload, unless and until given clearance by the Show Vet. BARN CHECK-IN Official barn check-in begins Thursday, June 29 th, at 12:00 p.m. You must show your veterinary papers to the Barn Superintendent BEFORE unloading your horses! Early arrivals (prior to Thursday, noon, June 29 th ) are $20/day, for each stall, plus a $12.50 hourly security fee. If arriving prior to Thursday (June 29 th before noon) please contact the stable office at , or Chad Nicely at (c) , to make the necessary arrangements. Checkout time is by 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 3 rd. THERE SHALL BE NO ARRIVALS BETWEEN THE HOURS OF MIDNIGHT AND 7:00AM. Arrivals by exhibitors that have not made arrangements shall be deemed unauthorized and shall incur an additional stall fee. These costs will be billed directly to the exhibitors horse show account. Each horse must be stalled separately, with the exception of mares with nursing foals. No changes shall be made from assigned stalls without the Barn Superintendent s permission! Requests for preferred stalls will be honored on a first-come basis. Please send in preferred stall requests with your show registration, or contact the Barn Superintendent, Manny Brito, directly at (H) or (C) Bedding: To be purchased at the stable office, located in the Sundowner barn. Please remember to bring all necessary items for the care of your horses, including buckets, snaps, manure rakes, grooming items, water hoses, halters, leads, ties, etc. The show will not be able to provide these for you. Camping: Camping is allowed by permit only and in spaces designated by the Virginia Horse Center. This includes tents and self-contained units. TACK Show Management and/or Judges may eliminate those contestants who do not conform to the rules on gear, attire, and appointments. Peruvian, English, Western, or Plantation gear (tack) is permissible in any class except Tack and/or Attire Classes, which call for a specific type of gear. With the exception of the Peruvian bit and Peruvian bozal, combining or mixing different types of gear is not permissible. Any saddle (American, Australian, Peruvian, etc.), with a horn, is considered western. PERUVIAN Bozal gear is to consist of Peruvian bozal, halter, eye covers, saddle and corona, crupper, guarnicion, and wooden pyramid stirrups (Juniors 12 yrs. & under may use leather covered work stirrups). No pellon or spurs. In-the-bit gear to consist of Peruvian bridle, bit, & curb chain, halter, eye covers, saddle and corona, crupper, full guarnicion, and wooden pyramid stirrups (Juniors 12 yrs. & under may use leather covered work stirrups). Pellon (except in Peruvian attire classes) and peruvian-type spurs are optional. WESTERN Saddle must be Western type (saddle with horn) with western stirrups and any Western type headstall (without noseband), in conjunction with any standard Western type bit, as long as shank does not exceed 6 (or Peruvian bit & curb chain may be used). Curb strap or flat ½ width chain to be used. Prohibited is any device made of wire, chain, metal or rawhide in conjunction with or as part of the leather curb strap. In bozal classes, a Peruvian bozal without halter or eye covers. A leather type Western bozal (hackamore) is permissible. No mechanical type hackamore will be permitted. Split reins or closed reins with romal are equally acceptable. No roping reins, martingale or tie-downs. ENGLISH English, or dressage type, saddle with English stirrups. Bridle shall be show-type with either curb, ring type snaffle, single curb and snaffle, Weymouth, or pelham bit. Peruvian bit may be used. Girth can be leather, web, or string. No martingales or tie-downs. No bozals. PLANTATION Plantation type, or Spanish-Lite, or Peruvian Trail saddle with western or English stirrups. Bridle must match stirrup type. In bozal classes, a Peruvian bozal to be used without halter or eye covers. ATTIRE It is the tradition of the show ring that a handler/rider be correctly attired for the class in question, that attendants be suitably and neatly dressed, and horses be properly groomed and presented. No identifications shall be permitted on handlers, riders, or gear/tack except for the assigned horse show number. Attire shall be limited to: White long-sleeved shirt, white pants, white scarf (or tie or ascot with dress coats), brown or black boots and belt, and a Peruvian type hat; spurs may be worn at the riders option (except in bozal classes). Classes shown under Peruvian gear, and in the bit, will also require a poncho or jacket - white, beige, tan, or other solid neutral color. If Show Management determines the weather is too terribly hot, no jackets or ponchos will be required. Halter: Scarf tucked into belt, no spurs, hat optional, white athletic-type shoes optional. Trail Division: May include jeans, riding pants, headbands, etc. -- no ponchos. Bozal: No poncho or spurs. All American: No whites. Requires coordinated attire and tack styles other than Peruvian.

5 Class Information Special Events ALL AMERICAN CLASS The All American Class requires coordinated tack and attire styles other than Peruvian. See "Tack" for specific information. GELDING STAKES CLASS Entry fee will be $75 (if entered prior to June 16th) or $100 (if entered after June 16th). Distribution to the first five places as follows: 1st Place - 40%; 2nd Place - 30%; 3rd Place - 15%; 4th Place - 10%; 5th Place- 5%. MUSICAL FREESTYLE Three minute exercise to music (bring your pre-recorded music on an audio cassette tape, or *CD). CHAMPAGNE CALCUTTA Bidding will take place as to which horse/rider will be the winner. All bid money is to be divided between the 1 st place rider/horse, highest bidder on winner, and the club/s. This class will be run as a Champagne class. Contestants may be asked to stop, reverse, and/or maneuver through a set course. Any tack/attire. SODA CLASS Open to Junior Exhibitors 17 years and under. NOVICE CLASSES Applied to Riders. Open to riders who have not won more than two blue (1 st place) ribbons, at a Peruvian Horse Show, prior to closing date, of entries, for this show. TRAIL CLASS The class will be conducted as described in the rules of Peruvian Horse Showing, Part V, Section 7, with the same percentages in judging. Gait... 25% Condition... 15% Performance and Disposition... 60% The following additions and modification will apply: 1. No poncho will be worn in Peruvian Attire. 2. Show Officials will select the obstacles. 3. The Trail Class will count double points toward the LGPHC Versatility Award. Friday Night Dinner - $30/person Directly following the last class on Friday. To be held at the Virginia Horse Center, at the East Complex. The Pasobilities is an all-peruvian horse drill team. Combining precision maneuvers with exacting choreography to music. Making them unique, visually attractive, and entertaining. The Pasobilities perform exhibitions around the country and will be making their appearance, at this show, as well. The best adjudication officials to be found have been selected and they will place awards on the horses as they see them presented in the ring without regard for previous records or performances. The LGPHC & NEPHC are desirous of fair treatment for all exhibitors and in return asks for the cooperation of all in helping to make this show a successful and enjoyable event. Every person who participates in this show is responsible for knowledge of and is subject to the current rules and regulations of: 1. The LGPHC, NEPHC and NAPHA By-Laws 2. The Blue Book of Peruvian Horse Showing 3. The Peruvian Horse Breed Standard 4. The NAPHA Code of Ethics All showing procedures and judging percentages as well as definitions, class descriptions, descriptions of gear and attire, rules and regulations, conduct and ethics, and conditions for this show are described in the above named publications. All exhibitors, handlers, riders and other persons participating in the show are responsible for a thorough knowledge of ALL rules and regulations. SUBSTITUTION OF JUDGES OR OTHER OFFICIALS In the event that the Judge (or other official designated herein) is unable to perform his/her duties, the LGPHC/NEPHC reserves the right to substitute an equally qualified Judge (or other official). JUDGES AUTHORITY The Judge has the authority to place any horse in whatever position he/she thinks the merit of the horse justifies. Any exhibitor desiring to discuss his placing with a Judge must FIRST obtain permission from the Show Steward. No horse, rider, or handler may leave the ring without the permission of the Judge. The rider/handler must request permission through the Ring Steward. RING ADMISSION STEWARD The Ring Admission Steward shall call to the attention of the Show Steward or the Show Veterinarian any entry not, in his/her opinion, conforming to the Blue Book of Peruvian Horse Showing requirements regarding hoof length, appearance, tack, attire, and soundness. The Show Steward and/or Show Veterinarian shall investigate and handle such matters in accordance with the Blue Book of Peruvian Horse Showing. VETERINARIAN EXAMINATION All animals are subject to a physical examination by the Show Veterinarian, free of charge, as a safeguard against communicable Equine Disease. ALL HEALTH REGULATIONS WILL BE ENFORCED. HORSES ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE CURRENT COGGINS (within 6 months) AND 30-DAY HEALTH CERTIFICATES PRIOR TO ENTERING THE SHOW RING. DRUGS AND ARTIFICIAL APPLIANCES The use of artificial appliances and forbidden substances shall be prohibited in all phases of horse exhibition in or out of the show ring. The exhibitor is to advise the Horse Show Manager or Secretary of all drugs administered within 72 hours prior to or during the event (in writing). This information is to be made available for inspection by anyone interested. No horse shall be eligible for competition in any class if it has been administered a forbidden substance, i.e., any stimulant, depressant, tranquilizer, local anesthetic, and etc. that might affect the performance of the horse. Any horse entered in a class is subject to examination by a licensed veterinarian. Such examinations may include physical, saliva, urine, and blood tests at the discretion of the veterinarian

7 Rules and Regulations Show Schedule DRUG FREE This is a drug free show and random blood draws, for testing, will be conducted. Refusal to submit a horse, for sample to be drawn, &/or failure to cooperate with the veterinarian or technicians, until samples have been taken, constitutes a violation and subjects the responsible person to penalties under NAPHA rules. MEDICAL & SHARPS DISPOSAL IMPORTANT! The Virginia Horse Center provides special containers for medical waste disposal in each barn for exhibitor use. All medical waste (needles, syringes) must not be discarded in stalls, manure pits, garbage cans or on the grounds. NEEDLES, SYRINGES AND OTHER MEDICAL SUPPLIES MUST BE PLACED IN THE APPROPRIATE CONTAINERS LOCATED IN EACH BARN. RESPONSIBILITY All entries will be accepted with the understanding that the LGPHC, NEPHC, NAPHA, and Virginia Horse Center will not be held responsible for any loss, personal damage, or injury to horses exhibited, or, for any article of any kind or nature that may be lost or destroyed or in any way damaged. All horses shall be under the control and direction of the Show Manager but solely at the risk of the exhibitor who will be responsible for any injury that may be occasioned to any person or animal or damage to any property while on the grounds by any horse owned or exhibited by him and shall indemnify the management against all claims or damages of any kind or nature, including attorney fees and court costs, that may arise out of an injury occasioned by any horse owned or exhibited by him or arising from any cause whatever including the negligence of himself or any other person in charge of any such horse. CONDUCT AND SAFETY The NEPHC/LGPHC Double Show expects the highest standard of ethics from its exhibitors and those persons under their authority and will tolerate no act of disobedience or discourtesy toward any show official, under penalty of disqualification or expulsion from the show. Courtesy toward fellow exhibitors and the viewing public is compulsory at all times. Cruelty to any horse, by any person, at this show will NOT be tolerated. Exhibitors shall at all times take whatever steps are necessary to protect themselves, their horses, and the viewing public. Smoking and parking signs will be adhered to. Any member who disregards these requirements may be immediately excused from the show grounds by authority of the Show Manager. No person will be permitted to enter the arena except class participants, the Judge/s & his/her assistant/s, and show officials. Attendants will not be permitted in the arena unless summoned by the Judge. PETS ALL DOGS ON THE GROUNDS SHALL BE CONFINED OR BE ON A LEASH NO EXCEPTIONS. Per VHC: All pets must be kept on a maximum 6 leash at all times and are the owner s responsibility. This is a county ordinance. Failure to comply will result in notifying Animal Control. Enter into the qualifying classes for that division (competing) BUT MAY NOT DO BOTH. 2. Laureado in one show, Not a Champion in the other. A horse that is Laureado in any division in one show but NOT a Champion in that division in the other show CANNOT enter directly into the Champion of Champion classes for that division. IT CAN ONLY enter the Champion of Champion class for that division, in the show in which It is not Laureado, as a Champion of the current year. If it is entered in any class in that division, it will not appear on the class sheet of the judge for the show in which it is already Laureado. CHAMPIONSHIP CLASSES IMPORTANT!!! First and Second place horses in qualifying classes will be AUTOMATICALLY ENTERED in their respective Championship Class. However, they will NOT BE REQUIRED TO COMPETE in the Championship Class. If competing, THERE WILL BE A $40.00 FEE for the Championship Class. 9 Additional Show Information Fees PLEASE NOTE: 1. Junior classes have been split into two age groups. 2. We have also added a luxury geldings stakes class with pay-back as follows: 1 st place 40%, 2 nd place 30%, 3 rd place 15%, 4 th place 10%, 5 th place 5%. 3. Entry fee for the gelding stakes class is $75 (if entered prior to June 16) or $100 (if entered after June 16). The NEPHC & LGPHC would sincerely appreciate donations to the gelding stakes class. This class has always been a great asset to our show/s and a good opportunity to win back your entry fees. 4. Class entries close June 16, After June 16, 2006, there will be a post entry fee of $10/horse in addition to the regular class entry fee. This fee is a one time only fee, not a per class fee EXHIBITORS: 1. Jackets are encouraged for Breeding and Performance Classes. The NEPHC & LGPHC gives you the option. At the show management s discretion, if the weather is terribly hot, no Jackets or Ponchos will be required. 2. Call to classes: Classes will be called promptly, and with advance notice, before each preceding class enters the ring. Three minutes will be allowed after first horse enters the arena. 3. Tack Change: If a tack change is required, a request in writing must be submitted to the secretary at least 3 classes in advance. ALL STALLIONS ENTERED Stallions four (4) years of age and over will be required to have two descended testicles. This rule will apply to all horses EXCEPT (1) Those registered as breeding stallions with veterinarian certification of two descended testicles and (2) Those for which veterinarian certification can be provided in a form acceptable to the NAPHA Board of Directors showing that the horse was normal but lost one testicle through non-hereditary causes, such as accident, disease or infection. POINT SYSTEM FOR VERSATILITY AND HIGH POINT AWARDS The number of entries in each qualifying class will determine the POINT SYSTEM for the LGPHC Versatility, High Point Crystal and High Point & Reserve High Point Junior awards. First place will receive the same number of points as entries in the class and so on down to final place. To be eligible for the LGPHC Versatility Award, a horse must compete in at least 3 of the qualifying classes. CHAMPIONSHIPS: A horse may enter the Championships under the show/s (either the NEPHC, LGPHC, or both) in which it has qualified under. 1 st and 2 nd place winners, of qualifying classes, will be eligible for their respective Championship classes. We have added Crystal Classes to encourage exhibitors to show their older horses. First and second place winners in Crystal Performance, Crystal Breeding and Crystal Gait classes will also be eligible for their respective Championship classes. 10 Funds And Finances Misc. Info FUNDS All payments must be made in U.S. funds. All prize money will be awarded in U.S. funds. All refunds are given in U.S. funds. PAYMENT POLICY The 2006 North East and Lagos Grandes Peruvian Horse Championship Double Show cannot extend credit of any kind to anyone NO EXCEPTIONS. All entries must be paid in full by cash, good check, money order, or cashier s check, at the time the entry is submitted. A late fee of $10.00 per horse will be assessed on any horse entered after June 16 th. This fee is a one time only fee, not a per class fee. Any entry received without proper payment and/or copies of registration papers will be considered incomplete and may therefore be subject to Late Fees. REFUNDS & SUBSTITUTIONS Valid, written veterinary excuse required for all refunds! For pre-entered horses: All fees are refundable with valid, written veterinary excuse prior to the start of the show. For horses at the show: Refunds will be given ONLY for pre-entered classes with valid, written veterinary excuse. If a horse is pre-registered for a class but then is unable to perform, another horse may be substituted for a $10.00 fee. THE GAITED JUBILEE will be taking place on the same weekend, as the NEPHC/LGPHC show, at the Virginia Horse Center. For those, who may be interested, some participation is possible in the Gaited Jubilee. Participation would be in Open Breed Classes, which includes: Costume class Juvenile Equitation Three-gait 18 & under - walk, pleasure gait and canter Open Country Pleasure EquiTheater (See URL- Country Pleasure Two-Gait Championship Best Gaited Horse of Show Stake Classes that state "Championship": There is a requirement that a horse must qualify in a preliminary qualifying class. They do not have to place first or second (or even get a ribbon), but they must have been shown and judged in a preliminary qualifier. For any class that says "Stake": There is no requirement to qualify in a preliminary class. So a Peruvian could enter the Best Gaited Horse of Show Stake without going in any other class.
