1 2017 National Golden Fleece Exhibition Hosted by the Upper Clutha A&P Association Friday 23 & Saturday 24 June 2017 Lake Wanaka Centre, Wanaka Venue: Lake Wanaka Centre, Ardmore Street, Wanaka 10am 5pm Event open for viewing Displays, Stalls, Working Exhibits. Stall Highlights. Further information Martin Paterson or Jane Stalker Classes and Conditions of Entry Conditions of Entry (from RAS) 1. The competition is open to all fleeces which fall into one of the classifications noted below. 2. The definition of a fleece for showing purposes is all body wool minus belly and skirtings. It must be able to be moved about during judging without falling to pieces and not resemble a blend looking like loxs. 3. All fleeces must be skirted to the highest commercial standard and must be of the normal season s growth (max 12 months) 4. There will be no maximum greasy weight. 5. Name of Breed to be stated on the entry form. 6. Fleeces can be transferred between classes at the judge s discretion 7. The four Supreme Champion Fleeces (fine, strong and black & coloured wool (fine & strong)) become the property of the Royal Agricultural Society, and will be displayed at any appropriate venue. 8. Supreme Champion Fleece Prize Money for the Strong & Fine Wool fleeces - $1000 for each fleece; Black & Coloured Fine & Strong Wool - $500 for each fleece. (RAS provided) 9. Supreme Champion Ribbons for the above four fleeces (RAS provided) Notes: Entry forms available from RAS Website: ras.org.nz. or Wanaka A & P Show Website: wanakashow.co.nz Fleeces entered in each class must be packed separately along with a separate entry form, and be clearly marked with the class number. All fleece entries must be accompanied by the correct entry fee. Fleeces not required to be returned will become the property of Upper Clutha A&P Association and will be sold to defray expenses. MORE DETAILS WILL BE ON IN DUE COURSE. ENTRIES MUST BE IN BEFORE 11am Thursday 9th March 2017 AND MUST have entry fee with entry form. Rules & Conditions F1a. Wool MUST be in the Wool Pavilion by 11am Thursday 9th March 2017 for micron and yield testing on site. PLEASE use Gate # 5 entrance, Stone Street. Entry Criteria F2a. All Merino Stud and Flock Fleeces are to be micron and yield tested on site. After testing, the fleece will be placed in the correct breed class whether F2b. All fleeces to be properly skirted as required by trade. F2c. All fleeces must be the property of a bona fide farmer, but it is not necessary that the exhibitor be the breeder of the sheep. F2d. Fleeces to be judged on the Society s recognised score-card and a card will be placed on each fleece by the judge. Competitor s name will be added but only after completion of all judging. F2e. Exhibitors to forward with each fleece a card approximately 10cm by 15cm showing the exhibitor s name and fleece type eg x-bred hogget fleece or stud merino ram etc. F2f. F2g. F2h. All Fleece Wool entries close with the Livestock Secretary before 11am on Thursday 9th March Fleeces nominated for National Golden Fleece Competition will be entered by the Society, who will not be responsible for fees or exhibiting. If no notification that wool is to be returned, or as to how to return, the wool becomes the property of the Society if not collected by lunchtime on Monday 13th March Protests, Judges & Committee s Rights F3a. Wool may not be removed from the Wool Pavilion without a delivery order from the Steward in charge. Record to be kept by Steward. F3b. The Judges are empowered to withhold the prize-money in any department in which there are not sufficient entries. F3c. In the event of low entries, the Committee has the discretion to combine classes to create better competition. F3d. The Stewards in the various classes are enjoined and empowered to prevent any persons interfering with the Judges during adjudication and no exhibitor or other person other than the Judge, Stewards and Livestock Secretary will be permitted to go inside the Wool Pavilion while the exhibits are being judged, except in such cases as the Stewards may deem necessary. F3e. All Protests to be lodged with the Livestock Secretary accompanied with a deposit of $50, within half an hour of adjudication and if, in the opinion of the committee such protest is deemed frivolous, the deposit to be forfeited. F3f. Any person infringing the rules of the Society will be liable to a penalty not exceeding $50. The attention of exhibitors is particularly directed to the foregoing provisions which will be strictly enforced, or will revert to the funds of the Society. F3g. Any exhibitor or person in any way interfering with or using improper language to the Judges or any officer of the Society in, or as to, the execution of their duty, or being guilty of improper conduct on the Showground, may be disqualified upon exhibiting in future shows of the Society, and if exhibiting at this Show, may forfeit all prizes he or she has won. 3 F3h. F3i. F3j. Any person having been expelled from membership, or disqualified from exhibiting, riding or competing by any kindred association shall not be allowed to become a member, or to exhibit, ride or compete at this Society s exhibitions, until such expulsion be rescinded or such disqualification be removed, provided such expulsion or disqualification be confirmed by the Executive of this Society. Arrears: No person who is in arrears with regard to entry fees, subscriptions or any other Show charge is eligible to compete at any A & P Show. Proof of payment will be required before any restriction will be lifted. The decision of the Committee shall be absolutely final on any subject on Show Day. Entry Fees, Prize Money, Points & Admission F4a. The Committee may reserve the right to allot Specials in lieu of prize money mentioned in this schedule. F4b. Admission to the Showground: Two-day adult pass - $20; One day Adult pass (18 and over) - $15; Youth, 13 to 17 years - $5; AND school children 12 years and under FREE. F4c. Entry Fees must accompany ALL entries. F4d. In the event of a single entry in any class, the competitor will be awarded half the first prize money. F4e. All Livestock prize money will be directed credited after the show. Please include your name and bank account number on your Entry Form. Responsibility & Liability F5a. The Committee will not under any circumstances hold itself responsible for any loss, damage or mis-delivery of stock or other exhibits at the Show. F5b. Police and security will protect property as far as possible. Security staff will be on duty from Thursday 6pm 7am Friday; Friday 6pm Saturday 7am; Saturday 6pm Sunday 8am till Sunday 9am. Disclaimer of Liability Neither the organisers of the event to which these rules apply nor any agent, employee or representative of these bodies accepts any liability for any accident, loss, damage, injury or illness to horses, owners, riders, spectators, land, vehicles, their contents and accessories or any other personal property whatsoever whether caused by their negligence, breach of contract, or in any other way whatsoever. NB. Under law it is not possible to sign a waiver which would protect a facility owner, farmer, employer or other person from liability should an accident occur as a result of neglect to take all practicable steps. The facility owner, local authority or farmer etc cannot contract out such responsibilities by requesting a waiver of liability. All practicable steps have been taken by the organisers to ensure your safety and we ask you to take particular heed of hazard signs that have been posted, and avoid these areas.
