3 GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS Gang Patches are not permitted on the Wairoa A& P Show Grounds, Ruataniwha Road, Wairoa. All Prize money is GST inclusive. ALL COMPETITIONS are run under ESNZ, RAS, and Wairoa A&P Society local show rules. All entries are subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Society which are deemed to be included herein, as if inserted at length. HEALTH & SAFETY AT WORK ACT 2015 The Wairoa A&P Society is required to conform to the Health and Safety at Work Act However, as a Show Participant at this venue you are also obligated to accept responsibilities in relation to the operation and use of our Place of Employment within the focus of this Act which is to Eliminate or Substitute. Minimise by Isolation, Engineering Control, Administration Control, Personal Protective Equipment Clothing. to Personal Health and Safety. The Wairoa A&P Society is responsible to present a safe venue for use. As user of these facilities you are required to take all practical measures to manage and supervise the health and safety of your event or exhibit representatives, agents, employees and servicing contractors, during the period of this event (including set up and disassembly). The Act embodies a considerable measure of sound common sense, with the key being to identify potential risks in advance by practical management application. Some obvious elements to note as potential hazards include: Leading livestock in public areas. Use of machinery, tools and equipment. Unstable stages, platforms and ramps. Riding Horses in public areas. Overhead Power Lines, BBQ / Gas Bottles, Marques / Guide Ropes & Pegs, The Wairoa River. You are invited to become a Member of our Society. Annual Subscription: 40 incl GST if paid before 30th October 2017 Subscriptions paid after this date will be incl GST. Members intending to add their subscription with their entry fees will pay incl GST. if the payment is after 30th October. Thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers. 4 Wool Section (Scott Maultsaid Phone ) Judging commences 9am Friday 19 th January Fleeces can be arranged to be dropped off in town on Thursday and a committee member will collect them. Entry Fee: 4.00 per fleece. If you donate the fleece to the Wairoa A&P Society, the entry is free. Champion Ribbons are presented to: Champion Hogget Fleece Champion Local Fleece Supreme Champion Fleece Fleeces to be labeled and showing classes, and to be delivered to the Society's wool room no later than 9 am Friday. Conditions: 1. Standard weights. All wool will be judged on a clean scouring basis. 2. Irrespective of classes in which fleece are entered, judges are authorised and directed to arrange fleeces in 3 classes; ie: Strong, medium and fine before commencing judging. 3. Fleeces carrying excess artificial stains are to be disqualified. 4. All fleeces to be from current seasons shearing. 5. All fleeces to be shown skirted, without bellies, neckfold or heavy conditioned points. This allows the selection of the fleece at the wool table during normal shearing procedure. Gift Wool: The Society appeals to farmers to make as many gift entries as possible, as the proceeds from the sale of this wool are being put into a special fund for improvements to the wool room and the wool section generally. If you donate the fleece to the Wairoa A&P Society, the entry is free. This is a Royal Show competition. There will be an entry form at the wool room, should you wish your fleece to be part of this competition. 4

5 Sheep Section Sara Bayly Phone COMPETITION SATURDAY ONLY All rules are run under the RAS. To be judged on Saturday of the Show. Law prohibits use of bloom dips. Bloom dips do not respond to scouring. Extracts from General Regulations 53 The giving of a prize to sheep shall imply that the judges are satisfied that such sheep is fairly shorn and fairly trimmed. 54 Lamb and dry ewes will not be eligible for championships. 57 Age marked accepted in flock sheep section. IMPORTANT NOTE Rams entered for the show are either: A: From a flock currently accredited Brucellosis free or B: Have no palpable lesions of epididymides or have received the negative blood test for ovine brucellosis. The competitor must bring the certification to the show and be able to produce on demand. Entry Fee: Non Members 5.00 Members 4.00 Champion Two Toothed Ewe. The judge nominates one ewe from the first three placed pens in that section. Flock Sheep Saturday, 20 January 2018 Open to Wairoa County Competitors only. Owners, members of family or employees are eligible to enter sheep with a registered earmark. Sheep to be in natural condition. Sheep Pens 08:00 AM 1597 Flock Sheep - Three two-toothed Ewes.
