1 Bosque County Expo LIVESTOCK DIVISION January 19 January 20, 2018 SUPERINTENDENT TBD GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS These Rules Are In Effect Through The 2018 Show No professional fitters will be allowed. Only Ag teachers, Adult Leaders, 4-H leaders, and/or family can fit animals. 1. The Bosque County Expo will be held annually in Meridian. 2. All exhibitors in the Bosque County Expo must be a bona fide member of a Bosque County 4-H Club or FFA Chapter, and not be a high school graduate. 3. All entries must be entered by November 15, If you have any questions on entries, please contact your Ag teacher or 4-H leader. Entry cost is $20 per project. Late entries will be accepted at $30 per entry through December 15, All exhibitors must own and exhibit their animal. Substitution of showmen are allowed only for exhibitor having two or more animals in the same class, doctor's excuse or note from principal verifying another school activity. The Bosque County Expo will enforce no pass-no play rule during the show. If the student is eligible to show he/she will be eligible to sell. It is the responsibility of the FFA Advisors and County Agents to check grades. There will be no substitutions of showmen for failing students. 5. The Executive Livestock Committee is made up of the Show Superintendent and the Superintendents of the respective divisions. 6. The Executive Committee will make last minute decisions on rules and protests and will serve as a sift committee for the fair. Livestock division superintendents will have the authority to make immediate decisions related to safety of the exhibitors and livestock. 7. The Bosque County Expo Executive Committee reserves the final and absolute right to interpret these rules and regulations and to arbitrarily settle and determine all matters, questions, and differences in regard thereto or otherwise arising out of, or in connection with, or incident to this show, with the exception of validation dates and ownership deadline. 8. Any protest to be considered must be submitted in writing and accompanied by $50 cash (non-refundable) to the Superintendent of the

2 show before the animal shows. The Executive Committee will consider the protest. The superintendent of the division being protested will serve as an alternate to the committee. 9. In no case shall the Bosque County Expo nor any of the Show Superintendents and officials be held responsible for loss, injury, death or disability from disease, or from theft, hail storm, fire or from damages from any cause to the person or property, while any person or property is on the show grounds. 10. Exhibitors may place a sign over each exhibit. Official organization cards should be used by members of such organizations. Tie areas will be assigned to each community. All exhibits will be tied in their respective areas. 11. All animals must remain in designated pen or tie-out area after weigh-in and no exhibitor shall remove his or her exhibit from show grounds until the animal is shown. 12. All cars and trailers will be parked in an area designated by the Superintendent of the show. The youth leaders will be responsible for seeing that the exhibitors drive in a manner that will be safe while around the show grounds. 13. Any exhibit erroneously entered may be entered correctly prior to show time by contacting the Superintendent of their division. 14. Scales will be provided at the show and all animals will be weighed and divided into classes according to these recorded weights. All animals will be weighed one time only. Show Superintendent interpretation of weights and classes is final. 15. An animal may be shown only in one class. 16. Steers, breeding heifers, swine, lambs and goats not in show condition, those not halter broken, or otherwise not desirable for show will be sifted by sift committee. If for any reason an animal cannot make its way into the show ring, it will not be eligible for judging. 17. Any comparable classes may be divided or combined at the Show Superintendent's discretion if the number of entries so warrants. 18. Within each market division 5 or less animals will constitute a class. 19. Showmanship buckles will be presented to a junior and senior participant in each division. Junior showmanship classes consist of exhibitors who are 13 years and younger. Senior showmanship classes consist of exhibitors 14 years and older. Ages as of the date of the show. All exhibitors are eligible to return to compete for showmanship.

3 20. No prize money will be given in market classes. Premium amounts will be determined by booster club s/buyers groups. 21. To compete for Grand Champion, the first place winner of each class will compete for Grand Champion of the Division. After the Champion has been selected, the second place animal of the class, from which the Champion has been selected, will compete for Reserve Champion. 22. Livestock may be fed, hayed and watered in barn. Stalls must be cleaned as needed and at end of show. 23. No one shall be allowed on show grounds after 11:00 p.m. Friday night. 24. All county market animals must be validated on the date designated for major shows. Those exhibitors not wanting to purchase major tags may validate with an Expo only tag. 25. All tag-in sheets will be turned into the General Superintendent by December 1, The Bosque County Expo reserves the right to test any animal officially entered in any division, for any foreign substance including drugs, chemicals or feed additives. Anyone found in violation will be disqualified and declared ineligible to receive premium money or sale proceeds. Carcass of disqualified animal will be disposed of per written instructions from USDA or FDA. 27. Exhibitors eligible for showmanship must own and exhibit their animal in that division. 28. Animal substitution rule applies in all market classes. 29. Drench guns allowed. Pumps not allowed. NOTE: If there are any questions about rules not mentioned all rules revert to Major Stock Show Rules as interpreted by the executive committee. 'PREMIUM MONEY RULES' 1. Animal premiums are not guaranteed, will be at the discretion of each booster club/ buyers group, business or individual. 2. Each exhibitor is responsible for his or her animal after the show.

4 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS FRIDAY, JANUARY 19, :00-8:00 p.m. All market animals may be in place and weighed-in. *Heifer papers may be checked at this time as well. SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, :00-7:30 a.m. Market animal weigh in and heifer paper check. 8:30 am Show starts with showmanship, followed by market show. Species order: Heifers, Steers, Rabbits, Goats, Lambs, Hogs DIVISION I - BREEDING HEIFERS Superintendents: TBD First Specie Shown- Saturday, January 20, All breeding heifers must be at least 6 mos. of age. Entry fee - $20.00 per animal. 2. Animal must be owned by exhibitor prior to November 1, Animals in this division must be registered. 4. Breeding heifers will be shown with no glues or adhesives-"blow and go." Division I- Breeding Heifers (continued) 5. Cow/calf pairs must be shown with natural calf. Heifer Divisions will be- American, British and Exotic. Age divisions will be based on entries. GRAND CHAMPION BREEDING HEIFER Buckle RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION BREEDING HEIFER Buckle

5 DIVISION II - STEERS Superintendents: TBD Second Specie Shown - Saturday, January 20, Only steer calves will be entered in this show. Pure bred, grade or cross bred of any recognized beef breed is eligible. 2. Each exhibitor must fill out an entry card on each individual steer. Entry fee - $20.00 per animal. 3. Steers will be weighed and placed in their proper class according to weight and breed. 4. Market steers will be shown with no glues or adhesives- "blow and go." Steer Divisions will be- American, British and Exotic. 5. Steers will be shown by division and divided by weight as determined by the superintendent. Weight classes within divisions determined after weigh in. GRAND CHAMPION STEER Buckle RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION STEER Buckle DIVISION III- RABBITS Superintendent: TBD Third Specie Shown- January 20, Rabbits will be validated. Validation will be held December 18th from 4:30-5:30 pm at Meridian Ag barn 2. Entry fee - $20.00 per meat pen (three rabbits). 3. Rabbits will be judged according to ARBA rules and standards. 4. Meat pen will consist of 3 rabbits, all the same breed and variety. Pen will be eliminated if more than one breed or variety is in the same pen. Age limit is not over 10 weeks or 70 days. Max weight 5 lbs. per rabbit. The Pen will be disqualified if a rabbit in the pen weigh over 5 lbs 2oz. 5. Breeding rabbit - Entry fee is $ Bucks or does can be shown in the breeding division. No validation required for breeding rabbits. 6. There is no limit on entries per person. Each exhibitor can receive premiums on only one pen.

6 7. Rabbits with ear mites will be disqualified. Class 1 - Meat Pen Rabbits Breeding classes will be determined based on entries Champions and reserves from Meat pen division and Breeding Divisions will be considered for Grand and Reserve overall. GRAND CHAMPION RABBIT - Buckle RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION RABBIT- Buckle DIVISION IV - MARKET GOATS Superintendents: TBD Fourth Specie Shown - Saturday, January 20, Entry fee - $20.00 per animal. 2. All entries must have tipped horns 3. Un-bred does and wethers may be shown in the market goat show. 4. This division is open to any breed or crossbred goat. 5. There will be no tooth rule. 6. Restraint: Exhibitors will be allowed to use halters or collars in the show ring. 7 2. Market lambs will be slick shorn prior to being weighed. 3. Ewe or wether lambs may enter this division 4. Lambs may be reclassified by predominant breed as determined by the judge. MARKET LAMBS Classes- Finewool, Finewool Cross, Southdown, Hair Sheep and Medium Wool. GRAND CHAMPION MARKET LAMB - Buckle RESERVE GRAND CHAMPION MARKET LAMB Buckle JR and SR SHOWMANSHIP- Buckle DIVISION VI MARKET SWINE Superintendent: TBD Sixth Specie Shown - Saturday, January 20, Entry fee - $20.00 per animal. 2. Market swine may be either barrows or gilts. 3. There will be a designated wash area. No washing of swine in individual pens. No clipping in barn. 4. Swine will be shown by breed and divided by weight as determined by the superintendent. 5. Market Swine that are being held for Grand or Reserve Champion showing will be allowed to go back to their assigned pens until superintendents need them back for showing.
