4 2015 Ramah Navajo Fair & Rodeo 4-H Junior Livestock RULE AND REGULATIONS PURPOSE: To encourage young people in the feeding and raising of livestock and small animals. Inspire other community youth to participate in 4-H and FFA activities. ****All Entry Fees Must be Paid in Cash on Show Day**** Money Order Only, No Personal Checks on Mail-In Entries. Make Money Orders Payable to: Ponderosa 4-H HCR 61, Box 13 Ramah, New Mexico NO EXEMPTIONS 1. Entry Deadlines: All entry forms must be submitted with payment in full. a. All Mail-In entries must be postmarked by Friday August 14, 2015 b. Entries will close for the Junior Livestock Show at 9:00 am. 2. Entry Fees: a. Large Animals (Market: Lambs, Beef, & Swine) $10.00/animal b. Booster Market Lamb, Swine, & Goat FREE c. Pet/Dog Show FREE 3. Exhibitors are required to familiarize themselves with all the rules and regulations of this show, where applicable to their events. 4. GRIEVANCE: The Grievance Committee has the final and absolute right to interpret the rules and regulations and to settle and determine all matters, questions, or incidents of the show. The Grievance Committee decision will be final. 5. CONDUCT: Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of exhibitor, parents, or sponsors will disqualify the exhibitor from being judge; the owner shall forfeit their entrance and other fees. Any exhibitor, parent, or sponsor who attempts to interfere with judges in the performance of their duties or make false statements in regard to the animal competitions may be subject to other disciplinary actions. 6. MEMBERSHIPS: All exhibitors must be a member and in good standing of a 4- H Club or FFA Chapter. Any member is eligible to enter an exhibit regardless of residence. Any child 8 years and under is eligible to enter an exhibit in the Booster division. Enrollment shall be subject to verification. 7. OWNERSHIP: All exhibits must be the property of the exhibitors. All exhibits must be owned sixty (60) days prior to the opening of the Ramah Navajo Fair & Rodeo. A HAULING PERMIT MUST ACCOMPANY THE ANIMAL, WHICH CAN BE OBTAINED FROM A LOCAL RESOURCE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (RANGER). 5 8. The Junior Livestock Committee will record all livestock entries. 9. NOTE: washing and clipping area is limited. 10. All market sheep must be slick shorn. 11. Animals entered in the Market Lamb Classes may be wethers or ewe lambs and barrows and gilts for the Market Swine Classes. 12. ERRONEOUS ENTRY: An animal that has been erroneously judged may be transferred to their proper class, prior to the judging. The coordinator will determine the matter upon its merits. If such classes have been judged, however, they shall not be reopened. 13. Contestants must remain on fairgrounds to receive awards/payouts. 14. All exhibitors are required to tend to their animal(s) while on exhibit and present them to the judges when called for. Any exhibitor, who fails to present their animal in the show ring, when the class is called, will be barred from the competition. 15. Decisions of the judge(s) are final in matters of classification, and/or placing. 16. PREMIUMS FOR CLASSES: Based on number of participants. 17. The top two animals from each class will compete for Grand Champion and Reserve Champion in each division. 18. Showmanship will be awarded for each division: Market Lamb, Market Swine, Market Beef, Market Goat, Booster Market Lamb, & Booster Market Swine. 19. THE FITTING AND SHOWING OF ANIMALS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXHIBITOR. Each exhibitor must show their own animal unless they have more than one animal in that class or with medical excuse. The exhibitor s parents, brother, sister, 4-H Leader, county agent, or Ag Teacher may offer instruction, advice and limited assistance-the exhibitor must be present at all times while the animal is being worked on and readied for show. 20. Accidents and/or injuries to livestock will be the responsibility of the exhibitor. The Ramah Navajo Fair & Rodeo and Jr. Livestock Committee, Coordinators, and other personnel will not be responsible for loss or injury to any exhibit/exhibitor. WE WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS. 5
