9 GENERAL RULES EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT WSH/USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. 1. Entries must be signed by the owner or authorized agent and accompanied by entry fees and NON WSH membership fees (if applicable). Failure to sign entry form may constitute a $50.00 fine. Parents or guardians must sign entry for any junior exhibitor, 17 & under, as of December 1, No show fee refunds without a veterinarian certificate, which must be presented to show management prior to first class entered. An exhibitor (horse owner/equitation rider/handler/driver) competing in B system shows must be a member of WSH or a pay a $3.00 per judge non member fee. A $45.00 NSF fee will be charged for all returned checks and all WSH and Zone points will be held until reconciled. 2. Management of Star Spangled Horse Show, members of the Show Committee and their Associates, WSH, its members, Clallam County Fairgrounds will not be responsible for any accident and/or loss that may occur to exhibitor, agents, horses, or equipment. Each exhibitor will be responsible for any injury that may be occasioned to person, whomsoever, by any horses owned or exhibited by him/her and indemnify the Star Spangled Horse Show, members of the Show Committee and their Associates, WSH, its members, Clallam County Fairgrounds. Signed entry is acceptance of rule. 3. AMATEUR: WSH Horse Shows accept ApHC, ABRA, AQHA, AMHA, APHA, PtHA, NRHA, WSH, USEF Amateur Cards/Non pro Card. To enter classes for amateurs, current amateur certification is required, or applications may be lodged with the show secretary at least one hour prior to the class. WSH will issue Amateur for an annual fee of $ Fee is waived if participating in (2) WSH Annual High Score Awards WSH membership and Amateur cards MUST be presented for inspection unless a photocopy is included with entry. Every person who has reached his/her 18 th birthday, individual age is reckoned as of December 1, 2016, and competes in amateur classes must possess an amateur card. 4. The sound system may not be heard throughout the show grounds. It is the responsibility of the exhibitors to be on time for their classes. Failure to show constitutes forfeiture of entry fee. 5. Management may reserve the right to combine classes, if there are less than three (3) participants. All classes must have a minimum of three participants for points to count for WSH. Exceptions: any class where two participate will count for points providing three were entered, Lead line class, any Walk/Trot, Driving, Easy Gaited Pleasures, All Other Breed Classes, In Hand Trail, Adolescent Trail, OTHT, English Pleasure OTHT, Saddle Seat & Saddle Seat Pleasure Equitation and Evelyn Huff Saddle Seat Equitation Medal Jr. & Sr. AM, Reining and Ranch Riding which require a minimum of two entered and participating for points to count. If three (3)
10 horses are entered prior to a class entering the ring and only one (1) entry comes to the gate, the class will be worked and the participating entry will receive half points for the class. 6. Show management reserves the right to substitute another judge if necessary. The Show may refuse any entry due to discourtesy or objectionable behavior to the show, judges, or show officials, and will result in disqualification from the entire show and forfeiture of fees and awards. 7. The judge s decision in any class shall be final. No one shall approach the Judge with regard to a decision unless permission is obtained from the Show Committee or Steward, who shall arrange an appointment at a proper time and place. No exhibitor has the right to inspect the Judge s cards without the Judge s permission. 8. Any rider, driver, handler, exhibitor, owner, agent, trainer or parent of a junior exhibitor may file a protest. The protest must be made in writing, signed by the protester, accompanied with a deposit of $50.00, addressed to the secretary of the competition at which the alleged violation occurred, within 48 hours of the alleged violation, or be made directly to the horse show director, accompanied with $50.00 deposit and received within five business days following the last recognized day of the competition. 9. Registration number, full registered name and a copy of the registration papers for all horses entered in breed classes at the Star Spangled Horse Show must accompany the show entries. 10. All Juniors riding in Lead line, Hunter, Jumper, and Hunter Seat Equitation sections must wear an approved ASTM/SEI Protective Headgear while mounted. Spurs, crops or bats are optional except, spurs are prohibited in Lead line Equitation and Lead line Trail. Judges may penalize those who do not conform. When the show management and/or judge permits, Hunter or Hunter Seat Equitation riders may ride without jackets, riders must wear traditional short or long sleeved riding shirts with chokers or ties. Polo shirts are not permitted except in un judged warm up classes. Management or judge may eliminate an exhibitor who is inappropriately attired. It is mandatory for all riders (including 18 & over) in Hunter Seat Equitation over fences, where jumping is required and when jumping anywhere on competition grounds to wear properly fastened protective headgear, which meets or exceeds ASTM/SEI standards. 11. Stallions are prohibited in Junior Exhibitor and Half Arabian classes. Jr. Exhibitors 16 years and older may show yearling and under stallions in open in hand classes only at B System shows. 12. Each horse will be given a number to be clearly visible at all times when in competition. Numbers must be worn on the back with pins or yarn ties or on each side of the saddle pad. Any In Hand classes, the exhibitor can pin the number on the front. Those without a correct entry number or not visible from either side will not be judged. Riders, handlers, drivers and horses are to be correctly attired (as applicable). Attendants are to be suitably dressed and horses to be properly presented. Chaps are optional in all classes. Women/girls, when riding astride, all allowed to wear split skirts. 13. A horse becomes one year old on January 1 following foaling. 14. A five to twenty minute break may be called for by the show committee at any time. 15. Gate holds of three minutes may be allowed if absolutely necessary. The office or in gate must be notified two classes in advance. The in gate may not be closed sooner than two minutes after the last horse exits the ring from the previous class unless all entries for the next class are present.
11 16. Children must be under constant supervision. Exhibitors and horses must not trespass on neighboring property. Dogs must be on a leash and under control of an adult or otherwise contained at all times. 17. Juniors staying on the grounds overnight must be accompanied by a responsible adult. 18. AWARDS 1 st 6 th place; placings to 8 th. Championship awards and high point awards. 19. NO HOOF PAINT OF ANY COLOR ON THE BARN PAVEMENT. MUST PAINT HOOFS OUTSIDE IN GRASSY AREA. 20. I am fully aware and acknowledge that horse sports and competition involve inherent dangerous risks of accident, loss and serious bodily injury including broken bones, head injuries, trauma, pain suffering or death ( Harm ) I AGREE to release Washington State Horsemen, the Competition and Clallam County from all claims for money damages or otherwise for any Harm to me or my horse and for any Harm caused by me or my horse to others, even if the Harm resulted, directly or indirectly, from the negligence of Washington State Horsemen or the Competition. I AGREE to expressly assume all risks of Harm to me or my horse, including Harm resulting from the negligence of Washington State Horsemen or the Competition. I AGREE to indemnify (that is, to pay any losses, damages or costs incurred by) Washington State Horsemen and the Competition and to hold them harmless with respect to claims for Harm to me or my horse and for claims made by others for any Harm caused by me or my horse at the Competition. I HAVE READ the Washington State Horsemen Rules about protective equipment, and I understand that I am entitled to wear protective equipment without penalty, and I acknowledge that Washington State Horsemen strongly encourages me to do so, while WARNING that protective equipment cannot guard against all injuries.
