This year we have retained a few elite crossbred gilts to enhance our show pig offering. The boars in this catalog are used in our herd not just for semen sales.

2 WE APPRECIATE THE OPPORTUNITY to showcase our boars for use in your breeding program. Our program is based on sound, functional hogs that can stand up in all conditions. We are unique in that we farrow 110 purebred sows continuously and are able to offer purebred boars, gilts and showpigs year-round. This year we have retained a few elite crossbred gilts to enhance our show pig offering. The boars in this catalog are used in our herd not just for semen sales. This gives us the opportunity to evaluate boar performance and allows us the ability to advise how best to utilize these boars. THIS YEAR MARKS OUR 49TH YEAR in the purebred hog business. Purebred hogs are our passion and for more than 34 years, has been our full-time occupation. With the addition of Game Changer and Papi Grande, we felt we could add another dimension to our program by offering some top quality crossbred pigs for our customers. Benjamin impressed us from first glance on his super design, sound structure and excellent feet and legs. GAME CHANGER (Toxic x Fatal Attraction) 75/ Owned with Kelso and L&H Showpigs and bred by Robert Wehmer, Indiana. A great combination of proven genetics. Stress negative.

3 C R O S S B R E D PAPI GRANDE (Big Papi x Recovery) CHAMPION CROSSBRED BOAR, 2011 NSR FALL CLASSIC. Bred by Shane Brinning, Iowa. He is sound-footed and has a big rib, big top and big bone. He s PAPI GRANDE! Stress negative. He has gotten better with age and has already sired several champions and class winning barrows. Owned with Kelso, Holt, Doege and Sparks, L&H Showpigs, and Fey. Game Changer was our selection of the crossbred boars at the 2010 Summer Type Conference. He has been very popular and has generated excellent show pigs. We have bred him primarily to Yorkshire sows and the results have been phenomenal. Prestige comes with success. A flawless front end, plenty of shape, a big square hip and excellent muscle shape, he has already proven to be an excellent sire. He is wide, stout-boned and functional in his design and movement. He has generated more champion Yorkshires than any other Yorkshire boar we ve ever owned, including our class-winning boars at Belton that went to Sam Sparger in 2011 and to Chris Lee in Easily the most popular boar in our stud. The 42-8 dam (Leader X Persuasian) was our #1 York sow Top SPI in herd of 108 and produced more hersdires and champion York boars than any other sow in our herd.

5 Y O R K S H I R E CRE2 Top Gunn (Gunner x Leader) 75/ This was our Duncan entry, but we decided to retain him. Outstanding pedigree! Gunner was purchased from Kent Hahn and was sired by Battleship (Chuck Olsen s Champion York, Summer 10). The 42-8 dam (Leader X Persuasian) was our #1 York sow Top SPI in herd of 108 and produced more hersdires and champion York boars than any other sow in our herd. (Leader s littermate was Grimm s Hog College Boar in 09). Most important study his structure: Big even toes, massive bone, rib and body and super flexible on the move. Reg. # CRE9 Fifty Ten (Persuasion x Force) 50/ We retained this powerful Persuasion son out of our best Force sow. This combination has consistently produced stout, sound structured pigs with excellent eye appeal. Fifty-Ten is producing heavy-muscled, well-balanced, good-profiling pigs. He has that barrowmaker look that sets himself and his pigs apart from the others. This, coupled with plenty of bone, a bold and square rib, powerful forearm, and tremendous top shape, make his pigs winners. Owned with Sullivan. Reg. # BTC8 HAWG LEG 26-2 (Timber x Head of the Class) 75/ Bred by Brice Conover, Iowa and owned with Scott Sullivan. This boar showed the most mass in his structure and width through his skeleton of any of the boars his age at the 2008 NBS. His pigs are exciting to look at and are the most popular Berkshires we have had in years. One of the most influential boars in our herd. He has taken our Berkshires to another level by adding massive bone along with base width and rib-shape. This boar is extremely bold from end to end, with tons of muscle and power in a wide-chested, big ribbed package. He s heavy structured with big feet and wide, open toes. The most popular red boar on our farm in years. Beast pigs consistently dominate the top end of their classes, producing many champions, including the Reserve Supreme Gilt at Fort Worth, and the Reserve Duroc at World Pork Expo in At 3 ½ years of age, he is still the go-to boar for most of our customers.
