Any Swine farrowed before that date does NOT qualify.

2 OWNERSHIP and ENTRY DEADLINE FOR ALL SWINE IS October 31 We are pleased to present the Arizona National Livestock Show Junior Swine Show as a National Affiliate Show of the National Junior Swine Association (NJSA) and Team Purebred (TB). Arizona National is collaborating with both organizations to offer a Pedigreed Barrow Show, Pedigreed Breeding Gilt Show and Breeding Gilt Sale called the Grand Canyon Classic. These shows and the Gilt Sale will include Crossbred Divisions. JUNIOR SWINE SHOW SPECIAL RULES ENTRIES 1. Entries and all entry fees must be submitted online by October 31. See additional requirements in the General Rules and Regulations and in the Junior Division rules. FEES: Entry Fee: $25.00/head Exhibitor Fee: $15.00/exhibitor Drug Testing Fee (Barrows): $10.00/exhibitor 2. DNA registration is required for Market Barrows only. See specific requirements for DNA testing in the DNA section of this premium list and in the barrow and gilt sections of the Junior Swine Show. All DNA requirements apply. 3. Please note that a Bill of Sale may be requested at any time on any swine during the show. Swine that are bred by the exhibitor must be indicated as so on the registration papers, and crossbred swine bred by the exhibitor or immediate family must have a statement signed by the exhibitor s parents if the exhibitor is 18 years of age or less. Exhibitors over 18 years exhibiting crossbred swine that are bred by the exhibitor must provide a signed statement indicating such. 4. The breed or crossbred designation must be designated on the entry. 5. The ANLS is offering a single pedigreed barrow show for the breeds listed with crossbred classes offered as well, and a single pedigreed gilt show for the same breeds with crossbred classes offered. Original registration papers must be presented at time of processing for all pedigreed swine. All purebred swine must be entered and shown in designated purebred classes and have an official/original registration paper. There will be no All Other Breeds Division offered. All crossbred swine must be entered in crossbred classes. Any purebred swine not meeting registration requirements or breed standards may be reclassified into the Crossbred Division at the discretion of the Junior Swine Committee and breed representatives. 6. Exhibitors must bring original registration papers, registration paper copies, health papers and weight cards by the processing deadlines at the show as listed in this premium list. PENS, BIOSECURITY AND BEDDING 7. The Junior Swine Committee will assign pen space. Pens cannot be reserved in advance. The Committee will make every accommodation to house all entries. In the unlikely scenario where entries exceed space, entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and exhibitors will be notified of any entry cancellations in advance. 8. Exhibitors with one entry at the Show must provide their own pen divider and may be required to share a pen with another exhibitor s entry. 9. The Junior Swine Committee will supervise the unloading and penning of all swine. Upon arrival and before unloading, all trailers will be dispersed to a specific unloading location whereby veterinary health inspections will take place and health papers will be reviewed. All exhibitors must have official clearance from the Junior Swine Committee before taking any swine into the barn. Please review all health requirements in this Premium Book. Biosecurity protocol for swine will be provided for the purpose of dealing with any and all health concerns for all stakeholders of the swine industry. An updated procedure and any additional health requirements will be sent to exhibitors prior to arrival. Please note arrival time requirements. 10. Hogs must be bedded on shavings only (no straw). The Show does not supply bedding. Exhibitors supply their own bedding. A Feed store is located on the grounds and will be open on the day of arrival. Pens must be clean by 7:30am. Exhibitor will be assessed a $25 pen cleaning fee if not cleaned after they are warned. 11. Barrows may be tattooed by the Junior Swine Committee. Gilts may be paint branded by the Junior Swine Committee.

3 12. Limits: Exhibitors are NOT required to show a purebred in order to show a crossbred or vice versa. Exhibitors are not required to show a barrow in order to show gilt or vice versa. There are no restrictions on the total number of swine entered per exhibitor. You may enter as many barrows as you want; however, in the Barrow Show you may only check in, pen and show two (2) barrows per exhibitor. There is no limit on the number of gilts entered, checked-in, penned and shown per exhibitor. Only swine competing in the Show are allowed to be unloaded and penned. There is no restriction on the various combinations of hogs entered per exhibitor. There is no restriction on the combination breed or crossbred animals entered except with respect to those breed divisions offered within the show. All entries require complete entry and fees submission online by the entry deadline of October 31. REGISTRATION PAPER DEADLINE 13. Registration papers for all swine must have been transferred to or registered in the name of the junior exhibitor, the exhibitor s family name, or the exhibitor s farm name by December 1, All swine must have been owned by the exhibitor no later than October 31, Pedigrees that are simply signed off on the pedigree document by the breeder and not officially transferred into the name of the exhibitor by the breed association will not be accepted. 15. Substitutions: Substitutions may be made for gilts only. Substitution must be within the same breed only and must be requested through the ANLS Office ( ). Substitutions must be completed no later than 12:00 noon, December 15. Substitutions are limited to one substitution per exhibitor for the show, and must be submitted with a non-refundable $25 substitution fee. All substitutions must meet ANLS ownership requirements. An official ANLS Gilt Substitution Form must be submitted with required fees to the ANLS Office no later than December 15. Registration paperwork deadlines apply. No substitutions will be allowed after December 15. NO EXCEPTIONS SWINE SHOW ENTRY INSPECTION, BREED QUALIFICATION AND SIFTING 16. All swine (barrows, gilts, purebreds and crossbreds), will be physically inspected by the NJSA, NSR, and/or TEAM PUREBRED representatives. This will be done upon arrival, in the pens and at the show ring. Swine that do not meet individual breed registry guidelines will be given the opportunity (if approved by the Committee), to transfer into the Crossbred Division. This transfer must take place no later than 2:00 p.m., December 28. Breed registry standards can be found at the respective websites: The representatives will inspect each hog for soundness standards, breed standards, and quality standards (including but not limited to underline quality, cysts, late cuts, etc.). The association representatives may choose to disqualify swine not meeting overall or specific quality standards. The representatives decision is final. MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENT 17. All swine exhibitors must be a current member of the National Junior Swine Association or Team Purebred. Membership enrollment is easy to complete by going to: NSR (Duroc, Hampshire, Landrace & Yorkshire) Website: Phone: Team Purebred (Berkshire, Chester White, Poland China & Spotted) Website: Phone: Membership must reflect the breed(s) being shown by the exhibitor. Exhibitors showing crossbreds must also be a member of at least one organization or the other. EAR TAGS AND EAR NOTCHES: 18. All swine (barrows and gilts), must have secured in one ear, a tamper proof ear tag (designed for one time, permanent use), that is permanently numbered, imprinted with a nationally unique, official 840 identification number (unique to that animal), and possesses the USDA shield emblem. Any tag that meets these requirements is acceptable. One tag to consider is the Allflex Official USDA 840 Integra Hog Tag. Ear tags can be purchased from CCK Outfitters ( ; The ear tag number MUST be indicated and match on all health papers.

4 19. All swine must have permanent ear notches in both ears that reflect the universal ear notch purebred system utilized by the National Swine Registry. Ear notches must match ear notch numbers printed on any registration & health papers for the animal and also must be listed on online entry. GENERAL 20. ANLS swine scales will be available as determined by the Swine Superintendents. 21. All Junior Swine Exhibitors are required to be PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) certified in a program approved by the National Pork Board. Exhibitors will be required to present proof of certification at check-in or prior to showing (i.e., current PQA certificate). Online certification is available at If entries are submitted, there will be guaranteed classes for Duroc, Hampshire, Yorkshire, Landrace, Poland, Spotted, Berkshire, Chester White, and Hereford/Tamworth breeds, as well as Crossbreds for both Market Barrows and Breeding Gilts. There will not be any AOB classes offered in either show. NOTE: Hereford and Tamworth entries will show as one Division. All NJSA entries must be Duroc, Hampshire, Yorkshire or Landrace. All Team Purebred entries must be Berkshire, Chester White, Spotted, Poland, and Hereford/Tamworth. Crossbreds are eligible in both the barrow and gilt shows. 23. Exhibitors of All Breed Champions, Crossbred Champions, Supreme Champions and Reserve Supreme Champions (gilts and barrows) will be responsible for getting a professional photograph taken with their champion hog by the official swine show photographer, and will be required to pay a photo fee to the Swine Show photographer. These photos will be utilized for promotion of winners during and after the show. The exhibitor will also receive a photo from the photographer. 24. All premiums will be paid direct from the ANLS offices. NSR, NJSA and TEAM PUREBRED DNA PROGRAM 25. NSR, NJSA and Team Purebred reserve the right to randomly collect DNA samples for their intended purposes and specifically for the profile on any pedigree on any animal for parentage verification and breed purity at this event. This collection is supervised by their representatives. 26. All pedigreed swine are subject to the DNA policies, rules and procedures of the NSR, NJSA and Team Purebred organizations. Contact their offices to request detailed information. 27. All Breed Champions, Reserve Champions and/or randomly selected swine may be DNA tested for the presence of the stress gene, parentage verification and breed purity. 28. All exhibitors are responsible for reviewing the NSR and Team Purebred DNA program rules, regulations and policies. Any individual hog, from the NSR or Team Purebred breeds of swine, that fails a DNA test for the stress gene, parentage verification or breed purity will be flagged within the organization s paperwork and the exhibitor and breeder will then be communicated with to determine what steps will be taken to rectify the situation as per the policies of the organization. 29. Any premiums due will not be awarded until all test results are verified at the association office(s). 30. All Berkshire swine must be stress negative and the stress status must be on the pedigree (HAL- 1843* nm must appear under the pigs name on the pedigree).

5 PEDIGREED MARKET BARROW SHOW (Includes Crossbreds) General Featuring Stand Alone Feed 1. This is a pedigreed barrow show that includes barrows for the breeds offered and for crossbred barrows. It is the only barrow show offered at the ANLS. 2. All Junior Swine Show Special Rules, General Rules, Regulations, Junior Auction Rules, Health Requirements and DNA Requirements apply. 3. Open to barrows only. 4. A DNA sample must be registered for each barrow entered. All exhibitors must adhere to DNA procedures for barrows found within this Premium Book. 5. There is no limit on the number of barrows entered, but only two (2) are eligible to be checked in and shown. All fees and forms are required for all entries. All entries must be submitted online. ( 6. All barrows must be castrated and completely healed. Any appearance of late-cut or unhealed sores will be grounds for disqualification. Weight Limits 7. The minimum weight for market barrows is 220 lbs. and the maximum weight is 285 lbs. The maximum pay weight is 270 lbs. All underweight and overweight barrows will be disqualified. 8. Weight Card: Barrows will not be weighed by the Junior Swine Committee prior to check-in. Each barrow exhibitor must obtain an official weight card from the Superintendent prior to the weight card deadline. The exhibitor must submit the completed weight card with the designated weight and signature by the listed deadline. This weight shall be considered the official show and sale weight (maximum pay weight is 270 lbs.). Weight card changes will not be allowed. 9. Weigh Backs: Immediately before or after the time of judging (classes and champion drives), animals may be reweighed at the discretion of the Show Committee or judge. If there is a weight variance of more than 15 lbs. from the official weight turned in by the exhibitor, the animal will be disqualified. 10. Excessive shrinkage will not be tolerated. Any abuse will be deemed grounds for disqualification. 11. All exhibitors must adhere to the ANLS Wholesome Assurance Statement. By certifying the online entry form, the exhibitor and adults certifying the entry form agree with and understand the statement. CLASSING 12. Barrows will be entered in the following divisions: a. Berkshire b. Chester White c. Duroc d. Hampshire e. Hereford/Tamworth (combined showtwo breeds) f. Landrace g. Poland h. Spot i. Yorkshire j. Crossbred The breed MUST be indicated at time of entry. An original and a copy of registration papers for purebred barrows MUST be presented at time of check-in at the Show. There is no AOB division. 13. All barrows will be cataloged into classes based on weight within their respective breed or crossbred division, and classes will be divided as equally as possible. 14. Crossbred barrows will compete for Supreme Champion honors along with all pedigreed barrows. 15. Barrow Divisions (Purebreds and Crossbreds), will be divided by weight into a set of three equal classes for each breed and crossbreds. If a breed has less barrows at the show than is appropriate for three classes, they will be classed accordingly and still have their breed show. If a breed requires more than three classes, the total allotted premiums for the original three classes will be divided equally between all those classes for that breed. Payout will never exceed the total amount allotted for three classes and no class will pay beyond 5 th place. In some cases, the class may pay to less than 5 th place if numbers are low. If a breed has only one exhibitor, premiums will be reduced by 50%.

7 PEDIGREED BREEDING GILT SHOW (Includes Crossbred Gilts) 1. This is a breeding gilt show that includes pedigreed gilts for the breeds offered and for crossbred gilts. 2. All Junior Swine Show Special Rules and Gilt Sale Rules apply, as do all Rules and Regulations of this Premium Book. 3. All gilts shall be open. Gilts may be subject to pregnancy tests and if bred, will be disqualified. 4. There is no limit on the number of gilts entered or shown. 5. ANLS does NOT require DNA samples to be submitted for breeding gilts prior to the show for ownership verification. 6. The following gilts are required to sell at the Grand Canyon Classic Gilt Sale on December 29: Supreme Champion, Reserve Supreme Champion, all Breed Champions, and Grand Champion Crossbred. 7. Additional gilts required to sell at the Grand Canyon Classic Gilt Sale: The Judge and Sale Committee shall determine which additional gilts MUST sell. Any gilt selected for the Sale MUST go through the Sale. Exhibitors will be notified after the Gilt Show and any selected gilt MUST sell. Exhibitors of selected gilts must prepare and present these gilts at the Sale. See Grand Canyon Classic Gilt Sale rules for full details. CLASSING 8. Breeding Gilts will be entered in the following divisions: a. Berkshire b. Chester White c. Duroc d. Hampshire e. Hereford/Tamworth (combined showtwo breeds) f. Landrace g. Poland China h. Spot i. Yorkshire j. Crossbred The breed MUST be indicated at time of entry. The original and a copy of the registration papers MUST be presented at time of check-in at the Show. There is no AOB division. 9. Pedigreed Gilts will be cataloged into classes based on age (farrowing date) within their respective breed, and classes will be divided as equally as possible. 10. Crossbred Gilts will be cataloged into equal classes based on weight. The maximum weight for crossbred gilts is 375 lbs. Exhibitors of Crossbred Gilts will declare the gilt s weight on weight declaration forms. Completed weight declaration forms will be submitted to the Swine Superintendent based on the printed deadline. This shall be the official show weight. The Junior Swine Committee shall weigh back Crossbred Gilts during the Show as they determine necessary. Crossbred Gilts shall be within 15 lbs. of the declared weight or be disqualified from the show. 11. The Grand Champion and the Reserve Grand Champion Crossbred Gilts will NOT compete in the Supreme Champion Drive for Supreme Champion Pedigreed Gilt honors. 12. Pedigreed Gilt Divisions will be divided by age (farrowing date) into a set of three equal classes for each breed. Crossbreds will be divided into classes by weight. If a breed has less gilts at the Show than is appropriate for three classes, they will be classed accordingly and still have their breed show. If a breed requires more than three classes, the total allotted premiums for three classes will be divided equally between all classes for that breed. Payout will never exceed the original amount allotted for three classes and no class will pay past 5 th place. Some classes may pay to less than 5 th place if numbers are low. If a breed has only one exhibitor, premiums will be reduced by 50%. 13. PACKER GILTS: Gilts not selected for the Grand Canyon Gilt Sale can be sold at the posted market price as established by the Show Committee. A 7% commission, as well as any check-off fees and transportation cost, is deducted from the exhibitor s sale proceeds for any animal sold in this group. NOTE: All animals sold in this program MUST be free of any drug or chemical residue. All exhibitors who want to consign their gilt to ANLS designated packer will be required to sign an ANLS residue-free statement prior to the sale of the animal. To sell non-auction gilts, exhibitors must sign consignment sale paperwork in the ANLS Office no later than 4:00 p.m., December Gilts consigned to the packer will be tagged with an ANLS ear tag for identification purposes. 15. Exhibitors consigning gilts to the packer are required to care for their animals until they are loaded on the packer truck.

All rules of the Junior Swine Show and this Premium Book apply. 2. Sale Order: Sale order will be determined after the Gilt Show by the Judge and Sale Committee. 3. The following gilts are required to sell: The Supreme Champion, Reserve Supreme Champion, all Breed Champions, and the Grand Champion Crossbred Gilt. Exhibitors of these gilts MUST prepare and present these gilts at the sale. 4. Additional Gilts required to sell: The Judge and Sale Committee shall determine which additional gilts MUST sell. Exhibitors will be notified after the gilt show of gilts selected for the Grand Canyon Classic Gilt Sale; if selected exhibitor s gilt must go through the sale. NO SUBSTITUTIONS. 5. Gilt Sale commission is 12% for all animals. This amount will be deducted from payment amounts made to sellers. Any and all buyers must pay the full bid price. 6. If an animal is selected and cataloged for the sale by the Sale Committee and the animal does not go through the sale ring, the exhibitor will be banned from exhibiting at the ANLS for three (3) years and will be charged a 20% commission fee of the average sale price. The exception to this rule is if the official Show veterinarian provides a written statement releasing the gilt from going through the sale due to injury or illness. The veterinary statement must be provided to the Swine Show Superintendent no later than 1:00 p.m. on the day of the sale. 7. The ANLS acts only as the agent between the buyer and the seller. If proper payment is made by the buyer in a timely manner, the ANLS will make settlement with the seller within 30 days of payment received. 8. The Show Veterinarian will be available to provide necessary vet inspection papers and other required health documents. The vet fees become the responsibility of the buyer. 9. After the successful sale of an animal, the new owner becomes responsible for the care, management and removal of said animal. All animals must be removed from the grounds no later than 4:00 p.m., January All buyers must be registered with the sale clerk. All payments must be made in full on the day of the sale or animals will NOT be released to the buyer. All gilts must have an official release before leaving the grounds. Terms are cash, check or credit card (Visa or Master Card only). Checks and credit cards require a valid and current driver license. Credit card transactions are subject to a 4% credit card transaction fee. Buy backs by the exhibitor or exhibitor s family will only be allowed if payment is made in full by the exhibitor or exhibitor s family. 11. If time permits, ANLS will post Sale Gilt photos on its website for public viewing before the sale and day of, if and only if the exhibitor pays a osting fee per gilt to the official swine photographer in advance. Each exhibitor who pays the fee will receive one 5x7 print from the official swine show photographer. 12. All gilt exhibitors with gilts selected for the Sale MUST attend a mandatory sale meeting following the Gilt Show. The meeting will be held at the Swine Show Ring and the start time will be announced immediately following the Gilt Show. 13. NOTE: ALL Gilt Sale Exhibitors MUST submit registration papers with signatures by 3:00 p.m., December 29 to the Show Superintendent s Office. 14. Gilts sell as is. 11 Page 11 LIVESTOCK SHOWMANSHIP The objectives of Showmanship are to reward outstanding junior exhibitors and to provide an opportunity to learn proper showmanship techniques. Contestants are judged on attitude, appearance of exhibitor and animal, handling of animal, correct showmanship techniques, skill and knowledge. All General Rules and Junior Division Rules Apply 1. Entry fee is $15 for each Showmanship Contest entered. 2. Entry deadline is October 31 for Market Livestock Showmanship. Entries must be completed online the same way they would enter their livestock entry( 3. Eligibility/Age Requirements: Junior Exhibitors must be at least 8 years and less than 22 years as of January 1, 2016; and must be a member in good standing with a 4-H, FFA or national livestock association. 4. There are five Showmanship Contests: a) Beef Showmanship for animals entered in Market Cattle and Junior Heifer Divisions b) Sheep Showmanship for animals entered in Market Lamb and Breeding Ewe Divisions c) Swine Showmanship for animals entered in the Market Swine and Breeding Gilt Divisions d) Prospect Steer Showmanship for animals entered in the Prospect Steer Division e) Market Goat Showmanship for animals entered in the Market Goat Division 5. Contestants are divided into three age groups: a) Division I - Junior 8 to 12 years on January 1, 2016 b) Division II Intermediate - 13 to 16 years old on January 1, 2016 c) Division III Senior - 17 to 21 years on January 1, Only Junior Exhibitors with animals entered in the Arizona National Junior Division are eligible. 7. Showmanship animal must be owned, entered and shown by the contestant. 8. Junior exhibitors represent their Club or Chapter as well as youth in Agriculture. Junior Exhibitors are required to wear appropriate attire in the Show Ring or Junior Market Auction. Attire must be clean and neat and include a collared sleeved shirt with tails tucked in. 9. 13 Page 13 MASTER SHOWMANSHIP Friday, December 30, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. The Master Showmanship contest is designed to showcase multiple proficiencies of the livestock exhibitor. Master Showman contestants will be evaluated beyond their show ring ability, and have their knowledge and communication talents tested as well. The Master Showmanship Contest is sponsored by Show-Rite Feeds CONTEST QUALIFICATION NOTE: This contest is NOT open to entry by exhibitor. 1. First place winners (overall), in the Senior Division (17-22 years), and Intermediate Division (13-16 years old) from the showmanship competitions for Beef, Sheep, Swine, and Market Goat are eligible for the Master Showmanship contest. Prospect Steer Showmanship Winners are NOT eligible for Master Showmanship. 2. Each of the eight winners (four in each Division), must compete in Master Showmanship. In the extreme case that the first place winner of a species is unable to compete because of injury or management approved (in advance) conflict, the second place winner of the respective division is eligible. If an exhibitor wins first place showmanship in multiple species, he or she must notify management of their specie of choice and intent to compete as the representative of one species no later than 8:00 a.m., December 30. In this case, the second place winner(s) of the vacated Division will also qualify for the open position(s). CONTEST FORMAT 3. Part One of the Master Showmanship contest shall be as follows: each exhibitor will show a steer or heifer, a sheep, a hog, and a market goat. Species rotation shall be determined by the Chairman; however, all exhibitors within an age group will show the same species simultaneously. 4. A separate judge per species will be assigned. In addition, one of those judges will act as Chief Judge. 5. All livestock and show equipment will be provided by ANLS. 6. Part Two of the contest will be the extemporaneous response judging. a. An official will ask two (2) questions of the contestant from one of the following subject areas: Animal Welfare, Livestock Marketing, Food Animal Genetics, Nutrition, Show Ring Ethics, and Animal Health, Stewardship-Based Production Methods used in Food Animal Production, or Public Relations. b. Each question will require a response over the microphone (response to be completed in 2 minutes or less), and the question will be framed as a problem-solving scenario. c. Each contestant will answer different questions. No single question will be asked of more than one contestant. d. All contestants and the audience will be able to hear the question and the response. e. Contestants will be judged on content, poise, solution suggested and time used for response. All contestants are to compete in this category simultaneously. 7. Part Three of the contest is the Master Showmanship Skill-A-Thon. a. This hands-on category is the laboratory section of the competition. b. Four sections will be featured and one of those sections will be selected for each species.

14 Page 14 c. The four sections are Meat Cut Identification, Animal Nutrition Scenario Word Problem, Pedigree Analysis, and Livestock Equipment ID. d. All contestants are to compete in this category simultaneously. 8. Tie Breaker: Cattle Weight Estimate SCORING 9. Showmanship will be based on a 40 point scale awarded per exhibitor for their skill. A combined score of 40 is the highest possible score. No more than 10 points may be awarded per exhibitor per species. Questions should be asked of exhibitors and taken into account for scoring. Points may be given in tenths if necessary. The extemporaneous response judging is worth a total of 40 points with 20 points available per question. The Skillathon is also worth 40 points (10 points per section). The total points available per contestant are 120 points. 10. Winners will be announced at the start of the Junior Livestock Auction on December 30. All contestants MUST be present.
