EC is committed to:! Upholding the welfare of the horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities;! Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment;! Ensuring that owners, trainers and exhibitors or their agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose;! Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure;! Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare;! Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition;! Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane.

2 GENERAL RULES and REGULATIONS! The 46 th Alberta Morgan Show is an Equine Canada (EC)-sanctioned Silver Competition. An EC SILVER membership WILL be required for all riders, drivers, handlers & owners entering the 2015 Alberta Morgan Horse Show.!You are cordially invited to join Equine Canada (plus provincial levy on each membership and Amateur Status) Bronze Licence-$35, Silver Licence-$75, Gold Licence-$120. Membership to EC is now called a Competitive Licence. All exhibitors, owners, trainers, drivers and handlers must join EC with a competitive license to be able to compete in any EC sanctioned show. -call EC at (613) of fax (613) with any questions or apply to: Equine Canada- 308 Legget Drive, Suite 100, Ottawa, ON. Every class offered herein which is covered by the current Rules and Specifications of the current EC Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith.!per Article A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition (A602.7)! Exhibitors, Judges, and Show Officials are responsible for knowing appropriate EC and Breed Association Rules. Both a complete knowledge of and compliance with the rules are essential, and all participants must be fully cognizant of all rules as well as class specifications in the division in which they compete. See current EC Rules and Amendments. Every individual is eligible to count points won at recognized EC shows for Annual and Provincial Championship Awards. The current EC Rules and Amendments are presently in effect and have been used to compile the Rules and Regulations for this prize list. Passports are not required in a recognized BREED competition.! The Show Committee reserves the right to add, amend, or delete any point not covered by the rules and to correct any error or make any necessary changes in the Prize List or Program.! The Show Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry at any time. AMATEURS! An Amateur rider/driver must be at least 18+ years old.! Seniors competing in EC Amateur classes must possess a current Amateur card. This must be applied for at the same time as the Competitive License. All exhibitors in Classic Pleasure classes are required to have Amateur certification. ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES! Entrants may move in no earlier than 10:00 am. on Thursday, September 3 rd.! Early move-ins violate the Alberta Morgan Horse Show s contract with the Ponoka Agricultural Events Centre and will jeopardize future stabling assignments. Any person placing any items in or on the show grounds prior to the advertised move-in time (10:00am Thursday, September 3rd) will be required to remove all items and stabling may be reassigned.! Stalls must be vacated by 11:30 p.m, Sunday, September 6th..! Anyone who requires stabling over the night of September 6th, 2015 MUST arrange this with the Show Office and must pay a fee of $21.00 per horse and tack stall. If tack stalls are vacant no charge. ASSOCIATION/FEDERATION MEMBERSHIP and FEES! Every entry must pay a $7 per horse drug testing fee.! All participants (rider, driver, handler, owner, trainer, coach, agent or lessee) must present to the Show Secretary a current EC Competitive License or copy thereof. There are exceptions for competitors from other countries, children in Lead Line, headers/grooms, and handlers in Breeding Line classes. EC Section A. Article A214.! A copy of the appropriate, current EC Competitive License must be sent with entries.! In the event a participant is not an EC member, he/she can buy a temporary, one-event EC Sport License for $40 and does not cover accrue points. Single Event Sport Licence Upgrade is for a competitor arriving at a competition without the correct Sport Licence. The competitor pays a fee of $20.00 to the competition to compete at a level higher than their current licence. This upgrade is valid only for that competition and does not accrue points. Permanent upgrade must be done directly through the EC office. Contact inquiries@equinecanada.ca with any questions regarding this ruling.! Since the Alberta Equestrian federation (AEF) and EC have resolved their recent differences, once again, An AEF membership must be purchased by every Alberta resident - EC sport license holder.! Effective January 1, 2014 exhibitors who show in Morgan Classes at EC sanctioned shows must hold a current CMHA membership. All owners of Canadian Owned Morgans who show in Morgan Classes at EC sanction shows must hold a current CMHA membership.! A copy of the appropriate, current CMHA membership card(s) must be sent with entries.! Alberta residents who are owners and/or exhibitors of Morgans showing at the Alberta Morgan Horse Show are required to hold a current year membership with the Alberta Morgan Horse Club and show proof of membership upon entering. All exhibitors entering Arabian and/or Half-Arabian/Anglo- Arabian classes at this show must hold a valid AHA Competition Card or pay a Single Event Membership fee of $35.00 US funds/ $40 CDN per person per show. This includes any owner, trainer, driver, rider or halter handler who exhibits horses in the show ring or signs the entry form as the responsible person for any individual s horse.! ATTIRE AND ENTRANCE TO RING! All riders/drivers/handlers, grooms, attendants and awards presenters are asked to be appropriately attired to enter the show ring for all performances. COMPETITION NUMBERS! A reminder that competition numbers must be worn and visible at all times in the schooling and exercise arena s as well as in the competition ring. AWARDS! Championship classes - In Hand: Ribbons to the first and second place horses. Results reported to 3 rd place. Other prizes to be determined by the Show Committee.! Championship classes - Performance. Ribbons to 5th place. Results to be reported to 6 th place. Other prizes to be determined by the Show Committee.! Regular In-Hand and Performance classes - Ribbons will be awarded to 5 th place, results reported to 6 th place.! Stakes classes - Ribbons to 5 th place, results reported to 6 th. Other Prizes to be determined by the Show Committee.! CMHA Medal classes - Ribbons will be awarded to 5 th place, results reported to 6 th place. Medal awarded to first place if more than three exhibitors in the class.! Futurity classes Ribbons to 8 th place, results reported to 9 th. Payout and other prizes determined by the AMHC Futurity Committee.! Cheques will be issued to the owner or registered lessee of the horse. CAMPING / RV HOOK-UPS! A limited number of camping"rv sites with power hook ups are available on a first-come, first served basis and MUST be booked on the Entry form. The cost is $30.00 per night. Passes issued by the Show Office are mandatory for the power hook ups and will need to be displayed on the camping"rv unit throughout the Show.

3 CANCELLATION OR COMBINING OF CLASSES! The Show Committee reserves the right to combine or cancel any class. Entrants will be notified. CROSS-ENTERING! Cross-entering between Morgan Classic Pleasure and Morgan English Pleasure is allowed, provided the toe and shoeing requirements of the horse are met. DOGS AND OTHER PETS! Pets must be on a leash and are allowed in stabling ONLY.! Owners of dogs and other pets are responsible for the behaviour of their animals. Owners bear sole responsibility and liability for incidents resulting from the presence and behaviour of their animals. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. DRUG TESTING! Any horse entered in any class at a competition may, while on the competition grounds may be selected for equine medication control testing.! Every entry must pay a $7 per horse drug testing fee. ELIMINATION OF HORSES! If a horse is eliminated after the placings have been computed, the horses placing below the eliminated horse will move up in sequential order. ENTRY FEES Performance and In-Hand classes $15.00 Stake classes $30.00 Championship classes (except In-Hand) $30.00 Morgan Futurity classes $25.00 Parkland Futurity classes $ 5.00 Dressage Classes $25.00 TBA CLASSES! These classes may be purchased for $25 plus your regular entry fee.! TBA - Arabian Participants may purchase TBA classes from the list of Arabian and/or HA/AA classes included in TBA CLASS section of the Classes listed by the AHA Handbook Class LIst. All classes may be purchased until the Show Office closes on Friday, September 4, The show committee reserves the right to approve the class proposed for purchase. ENTRY FORMS! Photocopies of entry forms are allowed or entry forms may be printed from the AMHC s web site at: Entry forms must be completed in full, signed and accompanied by full payment, copies of horse registration papers and copies of current EC Sport License, AEF, CMHA and AMHC membership cards. Entries may not be processed without the aforementioned being complete. Resubmitted entries arriving after the entry closing date will be assessed a post-entry fee.! Horse(s) must be entered under the name of owner(s) or lessee of record with CMHA or the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) or appropriate non-morgan Breed Registry. COPIES OF THE REGISTRATION PAPERS SHOWING RECORDED OWNERSHIP OR PROOF OF LEASE MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH ENTRY FORM AT THE TIME OF MAKING THE ENTRY.! If an open cheque is sent with entries, the cheque will be filled in and deposited immediately for the full amount owed. No post-dated cheques will be accepted.! If the owner or exhibitor is less than 18 years of age, the entry form must be signed by a representative who is of age and who, by such a signature, individually assumes responsibility and risk as stated above the signature.! Entries will be accepted after the closing date, but will be required to pay a $50 post entry fee, in addition to all other fees. If for any reason the officials deem reasonable cause, and in accordance with EC Section A. Article A805, entries will be refused for members not in good standing with EC, AEF, CMHA, AMHC or the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) or the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF). FACILITIES! The Calnash Trucking Ag Events Centre is located off Hwy 2A just south of the Hwy 53 intersection in Ponoka, AB.! The ring is approximately 300 feet (92 M) long by 175 feet (54 M) wide with a large warm up ring adjacent to the main ring within the same building.! Wash racks are available.! Indoor use of motorized carts, scooters, gators etc., except by persons with disabilities, is strictly prohibited. FEED and BEDDING! Shavings will NOT be provided AFTER first bedding (3 bags per stall). Bagged shavings will be available for purchase on site.! Feed will NOT be available for purchase on the grounds. GATE HOLDS! Gate holds will be allowed. Please inform the Show Office before the beginning of the session that you will require a gate hold.! The Show Committee will make every effort to accommodate tack changes. The time allowed will be restricted to 3 minutes. Tack changes are to be completed in the hitching area. HEADERS! All headers should be a minimum of 16 years of age. HEADGEAR! Riders must wear protective headgear in all classes where jumping is required.! It is mandatory for all riders in Hunter Seat Equitation to wear properly fitted and fastened approved headgear. Article A905, Headgear.! Protective headgear is acceptable in any division or class without penalty by the judge.! It is mandatory for all riders in English Dressage to wear properly fitted and fastened approved headgear. Article A905, Headgear. JUNIOR and YOUTH EXHIBITORS!Junior Exhibitors in Morgan Division Classes must not have reached their 18 th birthday as of December 1st of the previous year. The age of an individual on December 1st will be maintained throughout the following competition year.!junior Exhibitors in All Breed classes are deemed until the end of the calendar year in which they reach the age of 18.!Youth classes in the Morgan Division are to be judged in accordance with Open class specifications, open to competitors 21 years of age and under. A youth rider or driver may exhibit stallions, mares and geldings.!arabian/ha/aa New 2013-Individuals are AHA Junior Exhibitors if they have not yet reached their 19th birthday prior to December 1st of the previous calendar year. Individuals are Juniors, according to EC, until the end of the calendar year in which they reach 18 yrs of age. i.e. JOTR,JTR - 18 yrs & under AATR, AAOTR - 19 yrs & Over HORS CONCOURS! Horse may be entered in performance classes at the same entry fee and are subject to the same conditions and rules as regular entries to the class.! Hors Concours entries are not placed and are therefore not eligible for any awards. MEASUREMENTS! All Champions and Reserve Champions must have one foot measured by the Show Steward immediately upon leaving the ring. PADDOCK ANNOUNCEMENTS! Paddock calls and announcements regarding classes are provided as a courtesy to exhibitors. Checking in and showing up for a class remains the responsibility of the individual exhibitor. PARKING! All parking regulations must be adhered to. Non-compliance will result in vehicles being ticketed or towed. PARTIES! Please watch for details about parties posted at the Show Office.! Any individual or group wishing to host a party please contact the Show Committee. POST ENTRIES! Post entries will be accepted after August 18, 2015 if accompanied by the appropriate post-entry fee of $50.00 per horse.! Horses entered in the Show may be may post-entered into classes at the Show without an additional post-entry fee. No post-entries will be accepted after the end of the afternoon session on Sunday September 6th, Make sure you enter your evening Championship classes before the afternoon session ends.

4 PROTESTS! Protests must follow procedures outlined in the EC Rules. See EC Section A. Chapter 12 REFUNDS! If a refund request is received by registered mail prior to the closing date of entry, all fees will be refunded less the $25.00 Show fee.! Exhibitors cancelling their entries after the closing date shall forfeit their entry fees. If a certificate of disability from a qualified doctor or veterinarian is provided all class fees will be refunded, the $25 show fee will not be refunded and if the facility charges The Alberta Morgan Horse Show for your stalls this also will not be refunded.! After closing date you may substitute another horse but will be required to pay another $25 show fee.! If for any reason the Show is cancelled, monies will be refunded less the $25.00 Show fee. REGISTRATION! All Morgan horses that are owned by a Canadian resident for longer than 12 months must be purebred and registered with the CMHA under the Canadian Livestock Records Corporation or if under 1 year of age, be eligible for registration, and must be entered under their full registered name. SECURITY! You are urged to take precautions in the stabling area and on the show grounds with purses, billfolds and other valuables.! The Ponoka Agricultural Events Centre reserves the right to take all precautions and reasonable steps necessary to ensure the safety of the public, exhibitors and animals SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS! Stallions are prohibited in Junior Exhibitor classes.! It is the responsibility of all exhibitors to scratch entries in the event they do not plan to participate.! The All Breeds Lead Line class is open to riders who are at least 2 years old and less than 7 years old. Leaders must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. Safety is of the utmost importance in presentation, tack and attire. It is required that equipment fit the rider with rider's feet in the stirrups. Failure to comply will result in elimination and the entry will be asked to leave. Stallions are prohibited. Entries will be led both ways of the ring, only at a walk. Attire of the rider shall include Saddle Seat, Hunter Seat, Western Seat, Dressage Seat, Side Saddle, or Roadster silks. Riders in lead line classes must wear properly fitted and fastened approved headgear while mounted Article A905, Headgear. Rider and leader's apparel does not have to match. The rider should be in control of the reins, but the leader must hold a lead that is attached to the bridle/headstall appropriate to the saddle used. Riders may be lined up side by side or head to tail. Not to mount or dismount. Entries will not be asked to back.! Walk-Trot Classes. Conduct of walk-trot classes where more than one Division is combined is up to the discretion of the Judge and may include partial use of the ring, working Divisions separately or asking headers to assist at any time during the class to ensure the safety of all exhibitors. STABLING! Only horses which are entered in the Show will be allowed on the show grounds. Every horse on the show grounds must be assigned a stall and be entered in at least 1 class. Horse stall for show... $ Tack stall for show... $ Stall charge per day... $50.00! Arena will be open to work horses starting Thursday afternoon and then between sessions. Arena will close 20 minutes before the start of a session. Please check with the show office for how long the arena will be open following the evening session and when it will be open before the morning session.! For safety reasons, blocking or partial blocking of aisles is prohibited. Sufficient room must be left open to allow for 2-way horse traffic.! NO stall panels may be moved or removed.! The stalls are 10 feet tall and the doors open out, so plan accordingly. NO nails or adhesives may be used to hang curtains and other decorative materials.! Tack stalls will be limited if stalls are needed for assignment to other exhibitors.! Early move-ins violate the Alberta Morgan Horse Show s contract with the Ponoka Agriculture Events Centre and will jeopardize future stabling assignments. Any person placing any items in or on the show grounds prior to the advertised move-in time (10:00 am, Thursday, August 28 th ) will be required to remove all items and stabling may be reassigned.! The stall chart will be available at the advertised move in time and absolutely NO changes can be made without being approved by the Show Committee.! Stalls must be vacated by 11:30 p.m., Sunday, August 31st..! Anyone who requires stabling over the night of Aug 31, 2014 MUST arrange this with the Show Office and pay a fee of $21.00 per horse and tack stall. If tack stalls are vacant no charge. STRIPPING IN CHAMPIONSHIP and Morgan 3 year old FUTURITY CLASSES! No Stripping in Championship classes but the Morgan 3 year old Futurity Performance class will Strip. CLASS SPECIFICATIONS MORGAN DIVISION All classes within this Division are as per EC Rules Section B Part 6. CLASSIC PLEASURE DRIVING SECTION- B5704! Cross-entering is allowed between the Classic Pleasure Driving and Pleasure Driving Sections, provided the toe and shoeing requirements are met.! To be shown by an Amateur in appropriate attire. Headers must be a minimum of 16 years of age.! To be shown to an appropriate vehicle at a walk, pleasure trot and road trot. It is imperative that the horse give the distinct appearance of being a pleasure to drive, with emphasis on the walk and smooth transitions. Horses must stand quietly and back readily. To be judged on manners, performance with proper cadence and balance and gait 60%; type and conformation 40%.! Championships to be judged 50% - 50%. CLASSIC PLEASURE SADDLE SECTION- B5702! Cross-entering is allowed between the Classic Pleasure Saddle and English Pleasure Saddle Sections, provided the toe and shoeing requirements are met.! To be shown by an Amateur in saddle seat attire only. In Ladies classes, the rider must be 18 years or older.! It is imperative that the horse give the distinct appearance of being a pleasure to ride with emphasis on the walk and smooth transitions. Horses must stand quietly and back readily. To be shown at a walk, pleasure trot, road trot and canter. To be judged on manners, performance with proper cadence and balance and gait 60%; type and conformation 40%.! Championships to be judged 50% - 50%.

5 ENGLISH PLEASURE SECTION -B CH 56! To be shown under English tack at a walk, pleasure trot, road trot, and canter, with light rein but still maintaining contact with horse s mouth. Horses may be asked to back.! In Open classes, horses to be judged on manners, performance with proper cadence and balance, quality, presence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure ride 60%; type and conformation 40%.! In Junior Horse classes, horses to be judged on manners, quality, performance with proper cadence and balance, presence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure ride 60%; type and conformation 40%.! In Junior Exhibitor classes, horses to be judged on manners, suitability, performance with proper cadence and balance, quality, presence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure ride 60%; type and conformation 40%.! In Ladies classes, rider must be 18 years or older. Horses to be judged on manners, suitability, quality, performance with proper cadence and balance, presence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure ride 60%; type and conformation 40%.! In Amateur classes, rider must be 18 years or older. Horses to be judged on manners, performance with proper cadence and balance, suitability, quality, presence, and apparent ability to give a good pleasure ride 60%; type and conformation 40%.! Championships to be judged 50% - 50%. EQUITATION SECTION CMHA SILVER MEDAL! To be conducted as EC Section B. Chapter 64. Article B HUNTER SEAT! Formal Hunt attire is not permitted in Hunter Seat Equitation.! All competitors must wear properly fitted, approved, headgear with safety harness fastened. Class to enter the ring at a walk or trot. A reasonable length of time should be allowed before the class is called to order, after which the gates will be closed and no further entries admitted. The class will proceed at least once around the ring at each gait [a flat-footed four- beat walk, diagonal two-beat trot, and threebeat canter], and, on command, reverse and repeat. At the canter, entries must always be on the correct lead. The reverse may be executed by turning either toward or away from the rail. Light contact with the horse's mouth is required. At least the top four riders must perform two or more individual tests. When individual tests are called for, the Judge's decision should be a analysis of the railwork and the individual tests. SADDLE SEAT! Any or all riders may be required to execute any appropriate tests included in the requirements for specific classes. Entries are to enter the ring at a trot turning to the right and proceeding counterclockwise. Horses must work both ways of the ring at all three gaits to demonstrate their ability with different leads. At the option of the judge, horses may be asked to extend the walk, jog, or lope, one or both ways of the ring. The judge may ask all or just the top 12 horses to extend at the jog, however, never more than the top 12 horses may be asked to extend the lope. Riders should sit the extended jog.
