4 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 14, 2014 Action Coalition for Equestrians> > Contact: Jaede Miloslavich ACTION COALITION FOR EQUESTRIANS (ACE) RECEIVES $20,000 GETTY FOUNDATION GRANT Will fund further development of public lands and trails mobile app The Board of Action Coalition for Equestrians (ACE) announced today that they are the recipients of a $20, grant from the Getty Foundation Fund. The money was given to the non profit organization in recognition of their work on public trail safety and environmental protection, particularly as a result of their web-enabled interactive database and website, Park Watch Report database and website was funded by Action Coalition of Equestrians six years ago in response to a demonstrated need for trail and natural resource preservation and safety data. No agencies tasked with management of public lands in northern California had instituted any formal data gathering or a centralized point for the public to obtain trail information. ACE raised the funds and directed the building of custom software to provide vital data for trail planning, safety, erosion control, law enforcement and public input. The website also provides trail alerts and news, a calendar of events on the trails, a links page for trail information, user groups and reviews, and sections for lost and found on the trails, volunteer opportunities and the trail incident reports. California State Parks Superintendents from Auburn and Folsom Lake State Recreation Areas worked closely with ACE and Park Watch Report testing the pilot programs. After a year of demonstrated success, Park Watch Report was expanded to five northern California counties and various county, state and federal agencies. Today, Park Watch Report is managed by volunteers from ACE. As a 501(c)(3) non profit corporation, ACE receives donations from private citizens, as well as funds and support from trail, safety and environmental groups. The Getty Foundation Grant will allow the upgrading of the Park Watch Report and the develop the mobile app so that public land and trail users will be able to quickly and easily report issues or access trail information via their smart phone or tablet.
